Although GHD make some of the best hair care products on the market, these straighteners lack their usual refinement and are pared down from the quality I would expect from the brand.
Controls are basic, just on and off and no heat mat is included in the box. They reach working heat quickly and are ready to use in no time. Hair goes from a frizzy mess to nicely smooth and shiny with little effort. The lack of a mat is a bit of a pain both before, during and after use whilst they cool down for storage.
They do arrive in a lidded box with a plastic shaped enclosure holding the straighteners in place, so you could use that for storage in the absence of a bag or heat mat wrap, which has often been supplied by GHD. However, the temptation would be to wrap the lead around the straighteners despite the warning not to do so as there is nothing to hold the plates shut when not in use. I would have expected something to be included in the package for that purpose, such as a cap or a lock on the main body.
The straighteners work well on hair and leave it kink free and shiny. A good box means they are gift ready. However, there isn’t anything to keep the plates together so storage is tricky and there is also no heat mat provided, so this doesn’t strike me as the standard I would normally expect from GHD.
