It is a good reading, the type of reading that makes you interested to see what will happen next. It is set during the Second World War. An enjoyable book. This time I was prepared to write a good review, as this book is quite enjoyable and it’s the type of book that you can’t put it down. The characters are well described, the places also.
When you watch a film that is set during the First or Second World War, or any war that took place in the past centuries, you do NOT see explicit scenes of a sexual nature, at all! There is some indications but not the details shown explicitly. I mean, little, little details. How inappropriate that would be in any 18 rate films. No, not at all. Wartime fiction books should not have detailed sexual activities. You name it, and it’s there. Why not be brief at certain situations? Why all the details of what happens during a sexual encounter? I did not buy a book expecting to read about sex at all!!! I just wanted a relaxing wartime book, to discover how people used to live, and at the same time find out how they felt, what they did to survive. I have read a few fiction books set in the war times because I find it fascinating to see how they actually lived. But to read some disgusting passages in this book just made me feel aghast. Just because some stupid comedians swear all the time, it doesn’t mean people are going to sell more books because the books can be crude! The British Comedians who are some of the highest-grossing comedians in the world do not swear! I wonder why they are so very famous and millionaires? Well, they are intelligent and decent people. Summarizing, it’s a good story and crude also. No need to include crudeness. What a shame! It lacks skills.
