Quite a good start to this series good characters an interesting storyline and a climatic ending so all good. Britt the heroine is a strong feisty female given a bad start in life by her witch counterparts driven out of her coven as a child because her magic was different forced into becoming an assassin to survive and ultimately becoming a slave to the ruling vampires. Finally winning her freedom to be threatened by a scheming group of magic workers. Her relationship with the future vampire king is dangerous but she is resisting her future is far from safe. A good start with lots of potential.

Annabel gives characters a great backstory which she gradually reveals. I'm obviously a fan of her writing and this book, the first of a new series, delivers on all fronts. The downside? Waiting for the next one!

What’s not to love about an epic journey across monster filled wasteland while unknown enemy is trying to kill you. It’s so well written, loved the suspense and twists.
The sexual tension was hot, although constantly interrupted by attacks from all sides. The will they / won’t they element was perfect.
The monsters and the fight scenes were so well described, the detail had me completely mesmerised - I could put the book down.
Was surprised with the ending, so not sure what will happen next. Overall a fantastic read, can’t wait to read more.

This story is about Britt who is an outcast witch that is indentured to the House of August. She is in love with Prince Alaric but was hurt by him when he callously turns his back on her because she is not a vampire so when the Queen asks her to bring the Prince back to New York from Florida it takes a toll on her heart. The Queen offers her freedom if she brings the Prince back to New York to take the thrown. Britt encounters monsters, human children & a plot to bring 2 vampire houses down along the way.
This is not a HEA story for Britt & her Prince but the beginnings of a prophecy that she & 2 other people are written about to bring back the sun & end vampire rule.

Other creatures they were already on the earth but living in the shadows also came out. Vampires soon came out of the shadows and became the rulers of the earth as the night was continuous. Witches and wizards also came out of the shadows and without them earth would’ve died. With her magic they help plants grow food be raised and keep the human population alive. Intern the human population helps keep the vampire population alive. Without all of them everything on earth would eventually die. This is the story of one particular which that has a unique skill. Read on and follow the adventure and see if she is a part of what one day may return the monsters to the middle of the earth and evil back into the darkness.
