My old Samsung Galaxy Tab A2 is really good. I treated myself to this. Wow! Fast, fast, great size & aspect ratio, great battery life, great screen. 100% recommended, no debate. The split screen function turns it into a very small laptop. A game changer.

Read the fine print

I'm sure the tablet is fine, but the technical spec is wrong and contradicts the fine print (see attached). The 32GB comes with 3MB RAM/memory and not 4MB. I missed another review that highlighted this 2 weeks ago. Clearly, Amazon has not updated the page as implied in the additional comments of the one-star review.

It's a great looking tablet and works well apart from the memory. By the time you add your apps you're left with less than 10GB and further updates keep eating into your remaining memory until before you know it it's ground to a half. I've got a 128GB SD card and tried downloading and while it does transfer onto the SD card it drains also drains the tablets memory. There's also nothing that I can see on the tablet that let's you manually swap downloads onto the card from the tablet to save the systems memory . So a word to the wise pay the extra money for more storage. Myself I'll look into the problem further and if it still plays up I'll put in for a refund and pay extra for more GB.

I purchased this to replace an old IPad which I could not replace due to the shortage of iPads via Apple as the global shortage of processor chips bites. The resolution of the screen is excellent and the sound also good. Mine has the 64gig storage but it can be increased by adding a micro storage card. You can add a sim and use it as a phone. (I just use it via Wi-Fi). This runs rings around my old iPad also it’s a dam site cheaper than the £319 Apple wanted…. Would recommend to anyone who needs a good platform for viewing films/you tube etc.

Bizarre: no instructions at all. Avoid if not computer-literate

I bought this to replace an old Samsung Tablet which has done good service. This A8 is a decent general-purpose Tablet. But strangely there are absolutely no instructions - even the so-called quick start guide is just a load of unwanted 'elf-n-safety rubbish. Even more oddly the manuals are not available online but just on the device itself.

Having had a similar device before I managed to set it up without problems but was thwarted by the cover to the microSD slot, and even seeing videos online could not get the microSD holder out without applying what I thought tremendous force using the little pin enclosed in the packaging.

I am no fan of 100-page manuals but the complete absence of anything is really unacceptable.

This means the Tablet is fine for computer-literate people but really utterly useless for those not.

After getting lots of replies from people who already bought it on amazon regarding my question of using the latest apps I decided to purchase it as my old one doesn't run the new workout JRNY app for the bowflex Cross trainer. Arrived yesterday and straight away works well, for this price and Technology with android 11 and expandable memory this is just perfect for what I need without breaking the bank as my Samsung s22 does everything else so don't really need a tablet. However it also plays my Netflix in the larger 10.5 inch screen with the quad speakers. Super buy at the price. Up and running in minutes.

Update....Well night after writing this review....unexpected update happened and now all seams ok....all apps installed but only used 17gb....and have free space! Thanks whoever sent the update...trust restored in Samsung!.will keep and not retrurn.........update.....first review...The worst tablet ive ever had.... more storage on my supermarket basic tablet! Bought extra SD card but wont let me add Apps to it! Ive added just 5GB to tablet and its full! 31.5 of the 32gb! My samsung mobile has far better system! Shame on Samsung for making such a useless tablet. Very disappointed bought it to replace old laptop but cant do basics required. Shame as sound and picture quality great for video etc....but not enough space to download!

Poor storage space

We bought the 32gb model and were really disappointed. By the time you download a couple of apps your storage is gone. So much taken by Samsung system that you can't really get too much. We even got a 128gb SD card which you can transfer external apps onto but you can't get rid of any of the apps on the device that you don't need or use. Go for a different brand or larger storage.

Good hardware, dodgy software

As a piece of hardware, it is good, but not any better than the 10' Amazon Fire I still use. This one has Android 11 and while I do not know what bit is Android and what bit is Samsung, I find it very unwieldy. Going into 'settings' I find that there are a plethora of settings which really need a bit more explanation, before you can start to understand what they are - or why they are there? Add to this the overbearing Google Security settings and things get a bit too complicated if like me, you only want to see what holidays are on offer. I know life is getting more and more complicated, but how much security do we really need?
Google told me I couldn't use Password manager unless I added a screen lock (I got fed up having to key in a Pin every time the thing decided to lock me out, so I disabled it)
It seems to me that Software developers have run out of things to do, and have therefore added reams and reams of code with functions only they understand.
I bought this thing to have fun, not headaches!
So while many professional reviewers might froth at the mouth over the wonder of this current offering, I remain destinctly unexcited.
Like the Curate's egg - it is only good in parts.

Massive step down from the A7. Slow tablet with bad build quality, Bezels were misaligned with the base, felt sharp around the edges where they stuck out. Marketed as 4GB of RAM only had 3GB. Battery charging can freeze when using a samsung fast charger. Worst value for money of any samsung product I have ever seen.
