Made from sustainable, eco-friendly bamboo - but a little pricey...

Sometimes quick wins seem to have been gained in the war against plastic. One minute plastic stemmed cotton wool buds were there, the next they weren't. The plastic variety were cheap but I haven't found paper stemmed versions - which have largely replaced them - any more expensive.

Some people have felt that paper stemmed cotton buds weren't sufficiently robust. If this is you, you will find this pack of 200 bamboo stemmed cotton buds in a recyclable kraft card dispenser pack has stronger stems that won't bend. They're not flexible which may matter to you. Cotton buds appear to be used for a myriad of purposes from cleaning out ears to model making - and everything in between.

These Divchi cotton buds work well and have a decent amount of 'bud' at either end. Bamboo is sustainable and biodegradable, so eco-friendly. However, the £5.99 asking price at time of writing is a little steep, hence the deduction of one star.

Way overpriced environmentally friendly cotton buds

So it is a simple cotton bud for personal hygiene or other stuff for which you can use these. The only difference they are made from organic bamboo, instead of plastic. And the packaging is made from recycled materials as well. So it's a purely sustainable product. And this reflects on the price. Which for 200 earbuds are really too much. I am all for the sustainability and environment as my field where I work are attached to this, but 6 pounds for 200 cotton buds are just too much. And I think in the market there is the same product for a lower price.

These are excellent quality Cotton Buds from DIVCHI but at an eye-watering price compared to their plastic counterparts. They're nicely sized, smaller than many supermarket brands and with a modest but effective amount of cotton wrapped around the tips. The size makes them handy for precise work or cleaning awkward nooks and crannies, wherever you find them. I mainly wanted them for cleaning electronic gizmos and they're great for that and shed fewer cotton fibres than some.

My conscience is also a bit clearer when throwing them into the recyclable waste too but I have a question about how eco-friendly industrial cotton farming might be? I've seen this mentioned as a problem and there's no mention of the source of the cotton that's been used to make these. They're certainly a step in the right direction but why do they have to be so pricey?

I like these, super Eco friendly in that they use organically grown cotton and bamboo so infinitely a better choice than ones with plastic shafts - they also come packaged in cardboard so no plastic anywhere. They seem a little narrower in the shaft than the paper ones I usually use but they are still stronger compared to them. I tend to use these quite a lot for cleaning things especially old hi-fi gear I might be sprucing up - so the narrowness and strength is great - the only thing I can't do with these is bend them a bit to get into difficult areas, but in all honesty flexibility it's not what most people look for in a cotton bud so maybe I'm being a bit picky. They are also a touch pricey - but you have to weigh up their eco credentials too (plus they look nicer!).

These are much better quality than typical ear buds, which I find tend to be flimsy and bend too much in use. They are also 100% biodegradable as far as I can tell, including the packaging. The price seems way too high - bamboo should not be an expensive material to grow - but maybe if these get more popular there will be more competition and the price will come down. If I were factoring in the cost, I might knock these down to four stars, but since there may be a legitimate reason for the high cost (other than fleecing people who want to avoid unnecessary plastic waste), I’ve left it as five stars.

These eco friendly cotton buds are a bit pricey but when you consider that the packaging can be recycled they are biodegradable and compost able and with unbleached cotton tips that are also hypoallergenic and longer lasting than normal buds I think it's a price worth paying, I've used them and they are durable also the cotton tips don't easily come apart as with the bog standard ones, I'm not an environmentalist, but every little bit helps, especially where plastic is concerned, so I would definitely buy this product.

These are very good cotton buds with particularly strong though still flexible sticks which are environmentally friendly. Terrific.

I’m quite prepared to recognise that sometimes such ‘earth friendly’ options can cost more and am ok with that. However, there are alternatives on this site with similar credentials which are significantly less expensive, about £9.00 for 800. Assuming that manufacture conditions for workers are equal, then it’s hard to whole-heartedly recommend.

These are excellent cotton buds. The bamboo stems don't ever bend under pressure, unlike plastic ones. Apart from cosmetic use, I use them for cleaning hard to reach areas on silverware and often have to press really hard.
Cosmetically, the cotton ends are well-covered and no stick pokes through and they are a good, rounded, comfortable shape. The only gripe I have is the price. Nearly £5 seems a lot for only 200 buds.

These are super cotton buds made of bamboo instead of plastic.

I don't have an issue with the plastic ones, at all, but these are certainly prettier - there's a lovely rustic aesthetic here, and they come in a kraft box. We've tried other bamboo earbuds that came in a kraft tub which is preferable, but this is still great.

They cost £5.99 for 200 which isn't ridiculous, really. All in all, highly recommended.
