How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsA wonderfully light hearted read.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 February 2022
The book description to this book as well as the gorgeous and colourful cover, totally had me sold on and I knew I had to read it. What an absolute joy to read!

Kitty and Jenny couldn’t be anymore different. Jenny is married with an adult son and very prim and proper. She seems to look down on her sister Kitty who is single and carefree. I warmed to Kitty as soon as we meet her and I knew things would never be dull with her around. Jenny took me a while longer to warm too.

The setting of the house in a rural part in France, even though in desperate need of some tlc, had me won over and I could see so many wonderful possibilities with this property. I wanted to pack my bags and jump on the next plane! As we get further into the story, I so enjoyed getting to know both sisters and seeing the wall that Jenny had built round herself, start to crumble.

There is so much to love about this book from the idyllic setting as well as the relationship between the two sisters. There are some colourful characters of which some come in the way of animals of which I never thought I would ever have a soft spot for chickens before but I do now!

Sisters Behaving Badly was a wonderfully light hearted read that whisked me away and transported me to rural France. It was both a fun and entertaining read with some genuinely funny moments. It was also sweet and endearing and was great to see these two sisters rediscovering who they are and what they really want from life. My first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more!

3.0 out of 5 starsSome good ideas but not at all special
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2022
I enjoyed another book by this author - The Old Ducks’ Club - and this one had some nice ideas, but they lacked in-depth development. What I particularly disliked about this book was the French … English phrases had literally been put through Google Translate ! This was a real irritant ! Do not read this book if you speak reasonable or better French.

4.0 out of 5 stars sweet autumn years rites of passage tale

It’s never to late to start living the life you want for yourself to the fullest. That’s the tenet of the book.
The title is misleading. There isn’t the big reveal or rambunctious shenanigans you might expect from the title or any mysteries for us to solve.
The start is a little flat, like a ‘what I did on my Summer Holidays’ essay from a very articulate adolescent schoolgirl, but, it is worth persisting as it improves by the page.
It is like going out with an old friend and remembering why you liked spending time with them.
It’s nice to read a novel of hope and fresh starts for those of us facing our autumn years.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the rare books that made me laugh out loud.

I’m always wary of comments of laughing out loud but this book was so dry and funny. It was lovely that it was mature people and beautiful surroundings. It was a delight to read of the ups and downs , recriminations and solutions.
This book would make a fantastic T V series.
I hope there are other books to come from this talented author

A really fabulous read.
Kittie is very likeable and such fun, so different to Jenny. I was so wishing that Jenny would see her husband for what he really was, a controlling unpleasant man. I also wanted Leo and Kittie to get together and was delighted that it worked out for them
Reading this really made me want to go back to France, it’s been a while, the French way of life is captured so beautifully in the book and brought back memories of great holidays there.
Looking forward to reading more of Maddie’s books, they are uplifting and fun but we also feel we get to know the characters well.

I needed a book that was easy on the brain and light-hearted. Maddie delivered the perfect read for a dismal Christmas. I loved her descriptions of characters and French surrounds and felt very immersed in the story as though is stepped in amongst the characters. Beautifully told story.

An excellent light read, I couldn't stop laughing - and the wife thought I'd gone nuts!!!!

2 elderly sisters haven't spoken in years. They inherit a farm house in France. Can this bring about a reconciliation? What could go wrong?

Highly recommended 👌👌👌

I absolutely loved this book. One of Maddie Please's very best. The relationship between Jenny and Kitty is so real. We don't always see eye to eye with our families but sisters must stick together.
A heart warming story of older women putting their differences to rights, and making new lives for themselves...all in a glorious France.

Having lived in Brittany for some time this reminded me how much I loved it. There was a lot to make me smile I loved the wine references, the author knows a bit there, and the frenzy of renovation, I could taste the dust. All in
All, it's a nice feel good read, didn't expect much from the book cover, thought I would give it a try and glad I did, I look forward to reading another Maddie Please book.

As the saying goes you can choose your friends but not your family! This was so true of the main characters until they talked things through. Felt so proud for what they both achieved & wish I had the courage to make my life better…..
