Winter Emergency Kit + Vehicle Breakdown Safety Kit Plus

I've never understood why so few people in the UK have things like this in their vehicles, as with a fire extinguisher... you might never need it but you'll regret not having it if you do.

Both products don't take up much of any space in the boot, they have velcro on the bags which prevents them from sliding around all over the place (which also means it keeps my mini refrigerator from doing the same).
They are good standard little kits, all self-contained inside the bag and fits inside the car without taking up much space, the bags are bright yellow and easy to see.
If you're a newer driver, like myself (I only got my licence in 2018) then it's a good standard go-to set of kits for you.

Better to be prepared and not use it than to be unprepared and need it.

Breathalyser not included!!

Although the ‘NF Approved Breathalyser’ is listed as one of the products required to travel in Europe, and the kit claims to insure against all spot fines, the breathalyser is not included in the pack!!!

This marketing I found highly misleading and not up to the standards I would expect of Amazon or the AA.

WARNING! These review are for the whole AA product range not just the item you're looking at.
Initial breakdown kit was ok however I purchased a Euro Travel kit for another vehicle. Out of this kit the bulbs were useless as none of them fit a modern day car. The first aid kit was barely sufficient enough to treat one person with a splinter, not multiple casualties at an RTC.
If you're after something to stop yourself getting a penalty in the EU this won't help as it's missing the all important breathalyser required in France. False advertising!
Let's just hope we don't need to rely on this kit in an emergency situation.
Fortunately I've got additional kit to fill the gaps but the AA should be a more responsible here. The only useful items are the GB sticker, light reflectors and high vis jacket. All of which can be purchased at a fraction of the cost.

Overpriced and over valued

Package arrived and immediately had to order an extra high-vis vest as there was only 1 in the pack. That was an extra £5.99.
When I tried to prise off the adhesive cover to the UK sticker, try as I might I could not separate the adhesive cover from the label itself. My wife succeeded but meant using a very sharp knife and a pair of tweezers.
Furthermore, the information regarding the new regulations about the national identifying sticker was wrong! Since September 2021 the only acceptable identifier is the "UK" sticker!! You can have the old GB and EU stars all you want, but they no longer suffice.
Keep up at the back there AA!!

Tow rope broke

The bag is full of some good things but when it came to using the tow rope it was very disappointing.
The tow rope is very short leaving very little reaction time for stopping if you are in the towed car. When you get a bit of slack on the rope due to having to slow down and the tow car pulls off, it can jerk the rope. The first time the hook broke and on two other incidents the rope actually broke. We ended up using the AA tow rope from my sons car and then our own AA tow rope. Both broke!
We finally tied the remnants of the two ropes together so we could get to the garage, so glad there wasn’t much traffic on the road.

Overpriced branded product

Apart from the GB sticker (the only non-magnetic one I could find that complies with UNECE rules) and the handbook (which is quite informative), the rest of the kit is cheaper to buy individually unless you really want a AA branded carry bag.

The medical kit is poor and doesn't include the items required to comply with DIN 13164 standard.
The spare bulb kit is pointless - just buy the correct spare bulbs for your car.

Bit disappointing and doesn't really provide piece of mind since the description disclaims itself about other requirements. Just research the actual requirements and buy the stuff separately for actual piece of mind.

Tyre inflator has dodgy cable and won’t work!

Thought this kit was great until I went to use the tyre inflator and it appears to have a dodgy cable and won’t work unless the cable is in a certain position. Luckily we were only pumping up my bike tyre when we realised it doesn’t work! So much for a breakdown kit!!!! Hoping for a replacement but I purchased it 4 months ago and can’t find any contact details of the seller so not sure I will get one!

This product arrived fast, in good condition and appears outwardly as per the product photo. However, the kit contents do not match those of the product description. The description lists the contents as: Pair of Beam Converters, Universal Bulb Kit, First Aid Kit, Warning Triangle, Adults' High Visibility Vest (EN 471 Approved), Magnetic GB Plate, AA European Drivers Handbook. In reality, the GB sticker is a cheap self-adhesive version (not magnetic) and the first aid kit is a waste of space. Furthermore, if planning on travelling in certain European countries (e.g. France) then breathalyser kits are now also required, so this "Euro Travel Kit" is outdated and does not contain everything needed.

Very poor quality triangle

Unfortunately during our trip we had to use the triangle, during the dark hours of the day, it was made of poor quality plastic and was blown away by the other passing vehicles and run over, leaving us in dangerous situation.
The triangle was the only reason we got this kit.. i know it is a cheep kit, but i’d rather the triangle was not included at all and i needed to find it separately.
It is about safety after all, not the the fact that you have one..

Received today ahead of a trip to Europe. Rather disappointed with the quality of the product. GB stickers don’t stick, the first aid kit is very poorly equipped.
Will get both items separately to better standard.
Breatherliser is missing, after checking in detail now it’s indeed not included but advertised as important travel kit included…

Warning triangle and warn vest as well as the booklet about driving in Europe are the only useful bits of this kit.
