Wobbling, uneven base. Way too much plastic in the packaging.

It’s a shame, this could have been not 5, but a 7-star product, but it came with two unforgivable issues.

1. The base is evidently slightly uneven, so it wobbles every time I touch the screen. I had to use some blue tack to compensate for that and stabilise it. This is very inconvenient because it sticks to the desk when I need to move it, so I can never forget about issue. What does all the rest of the features matter if something like this gets past quality control?

2. The package is padded with an amount of plastic which would have been overkill 10 years ago, and completely out of touch and offensive in this day and age when we seem to have grown a shred of collective environmental awareness at last.

Having to buy a stand for my iPad Air 3 after being told by my chiropractor, as my neck was giving me a lot of bother. I decided to go with this one instead of the foldable one also by Lamicall, purely because of the height of the stand, and not just about the angle. As I sit on my bar stool at my kitchen island, my body and eye level are so elevated, I needed a stand tall enough to lift my head to a natural position, rather bending down all the time. This stand is perfect!! It’s very sturdy and I also like the fact that I can ( potentially ) adjust the height up and down with one hand. Why did I say potentially? Maybe because the stand is brand new, and the height adjusting mechanism is still quite stiff ( or, maybe my hand is just not strong enough? ). I tried to adjust the height with one hand ( in the product description ) with a little difficulty when I first set it up. In the end, I needed to use both hands, One to hold the stand, and the other to adjust the height, Now the stand is at a perfect height for me, there’s no need to adjust it constantly as I’m the sole user for my iPad. The relief on my neck was absolutely instantaneous. I should’ve bought one long ago!! It’s also really good for using to watch YouTube videos when I’m pottering about in my kitchen. I’m 5’7” tall and the screen is now at the right position that so I don’t have bend down my neck any more. It has stopped the pain and strain in my neck! A little bonus for me is the height of this stand also mean that I can hang my headphone on the stand behind my iPad when not in use, so it’s not left on the surface of my kitchen island. I would recommend this product to anyone who is considering buy a stand. The Lamicall foldable stand which I originally was going to buy that has loads of 5 star review will be on my shopping list before I go on holiday in the future, knowing now how good their product is.

Let me start by saying i have 2 portable stands and wanted a more stable one for home. My needs for the stand was a stable heavy base and a lockable height adjustment. Looking at the specs this ticked the boxes and i ordered it.

I would say this is currently the best stand you're going to get. In a market filled with cheap tat with a high markup. If they reduce the price i would 100% recommend you buy it for home use.

Why 4 stars and not 5 stars because i think for a little better thought and redesign it could be a best seller.

PROBLEM 1: This is not a portable stand so the base should be 2x more heavy. It feels around 300g i think it should be 600g. It's definitely the most heavy base i have ever had so don't misunderstand me.

PROBLEM 2: The middle metal stem should also be threaded onto the base NOT just the thin outer part. This is clearly a weak spot to the whole stand and if it was going to break it would be here.

PROBLEM 3: The 2 hooks for the device cradle are way too long and block some of the screen on all my devices. Compared to my portable stands that also cradle all my devices just fine. (Samsung s10 & 10.3" Eink reader).

When video conferencing from home I've been propping up on my iPad Pro on books etc to get the right angle, so I wanted a stand where both the height and angle were adjustable. I started looking at the cheaper stands (from £12 upwards) but they all had limitations (mainly that you couldn't make them taller).

I noticed the reviews for this item were really good, but felt a little cynical when I saw they were all effectively from professional reviewers (who get the item for free). But this looked so good I decided to take a punt.

And I'm glad I did. Yes, it's expensive, but it's classy. Really easy to assemble (you just screw the upright into the base), it is sturdy and takes the weight of my iPad with no wobble (I have a plastic protector case so the total weight is 527g). There's a gap for the charger to plug in.

During the day I use it for video conferencing. In the evenings my family fights for it - often to hold a phone/iPad to view a recipe when cooking.

Two minor things to note, although neither should deter you from choosing this: (a) you can't adjust left-to-right without moving the base (b) this isn't designed to be packed down for travelling

First off like you, I too was a bit skeptical. I took a chance on this thinking it was a tad expensive and I have to be fair it's decent.

I bought this for a family member to help with their back problems. They like to read articles on the ipad in the kitchen but are always hunched over. This immediately helped her posture.

Notes:
1. Higher than expected, although you can't really adjust it it's actually a decent height.
2. It's sturdier than expected. The bottom is weighted and the piping and cradle are tight.
3. Rubber keeps the ipad secure and plenty of space to fit Ipad with thick protective cover.
4. Although it looks like plastic it's actually a heavy metallic material.

It is a sturdy stand which can make me feel safe when I put my iPad on it. The height is good but only one thing I would like to suggest - I hope it can lie down more so sometimes if you are standing (cooking etc) and wish to watch a video there won't be any problem and still easy to watch.
