How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsA Brilliant Smart TV Upgrade
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 September 2021
I have a five-year-old 60” 4K Samsung smart TV, however, the smart functions have never been the best as they are slow and temperamental, and as a frequent user of the in-built apps, the slow loading and occasional crashing of Apps became frustrating and sometimes infuriating. Instead of going to the expense of buying a brand new TV, I decided to spend just £50 on the new 4K fire TV stick, and its transformed my TV, it now actually does what it’s supposed to do.

Setting it up was a doddle, it’s pretty much plug and play, I was even able to connect the USB for the power supply to an inbuilt USB port on the back of my TV, it prevented having another cable hanging down the back of the TV cabinet and using up a power socket. The only time consuming part is entering your user names and passwords into each of the apps (except Amazon Video which is done automatically) and it could become frustrating if you have forgotten some of your login details.

The remote control is great, it has all the buttons I need to control the functions on the TV including power on/off and volume, and as I don’t watch terrestrial TV, this has replaced my TV remote completely. The shortcut buttons for Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+ are handy, but I would have preferred a button for YouTube instead of Amazon Music. The Alexa button also works well for opening apps with voice control, although this is a bit of a novelty and will be rarely used.

All of the apps that I frequently use are included, which are; Amazon Video, Netflix, YouTube, Now TV, Disney+ and BT Sports. They all open quickly and effortlessly, it’s a huge improvement on the inbuilt apps on my TV, and I haven’t experienced any crashes like I frequently did with the in-built apps on the TV. The only annoying thing was a clicking noise when scrolling through the apps, but this was immediately and easily sorted by turning off the sound effect in settings.

The UI is great, I can’t fault it, it’s easy to navigate and simple to add apps to the Home Screen as well as changing the order of which they are displayed.

Overall, it’s a big improvement to what I was using before and it’s saved me a lot of money. I’m very pleased with the lasted Fire Stuck and would 100% recommend it to anyone who wants to upgrade or add smart functionality to their TV.

1.0 out of 5 starsI detest the new remote control!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 September 2021
Operationally this is a great device; I have 5 of the previous version (seriously) so why the one star review?
I don't use Netflix.
I don't use Amazon Music.
I use Amazon Prime but I get to that with one click through the U.I!
I not only don't use Disney+ but I also find the Disney company offensive and intolerable.
QED why are purchasers being forced to accept vulgar coloured buttons for all of the above when the old remote control is elegant and near perfect? I HATE the new controller; I HATE these horrible buttons for services I don't need and I HATE the presumption by Amazon that customers will accept this repulsive branding which no doubt Amazon has been highly paid to do!
Disgusting!

Bought this product because of the dolby atmos support, only to find out that the netflix app does not support atmos. Was then told by customer service that I'd miss read the advertisement and should of checked the reviews and questions section. Tidal
App needs to be uninstalled and installed after every use. Good product but terrible software. I thought I'd try something other than Google products for once but I will be once again be purchasing another google replacement today.

My old fire tv stick stopped working and amazon wanted to exchange for the new 4K one. I bought this one and it was so easy to set up. All my settings, purchases and apps from my previous fire stick were transferred onto this one. This is a really lovely fire stick. Very slick and not so clunky and easy to set up. The picture quality is gorgeous and it hasn't cut off. I haven't had any problems with it thus far. Really happy with it and worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a cost effective system. Much better than Sky.

Extremely easy to set up. HDMI extension was a great feature included of your HDamI ports are located in an awkward position. Remote and setup are very intuitive. Best of all is the cost, £49.99 one off for the 4K stick gives us access to an amazing amount of services. Opposed to the £50 a month for unreliable Sky TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars So easy even I could do it

This was really easy to install. I’d been putting it off for ages but I can’t get Apple TV or Disney+ on my old Samsung smart TV and I was desperate to see Foundation on the big TV screen so I took the plunge. Should have done it ages ago. Just had to plug it in and off it went. The worse thing was typing in long passwords but some of those were made easy by scanning.

Cristian Stoica
1.0 out of 5 stars Additional external memory
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 October 2021
Style Name: Fire TV Stick 4KVerified Purchase
Dear Amazon Developing Devices Software Team,

I bought my Fire TV 4K Stick two years ago and I was one of your most happy customers until one month ago when I decided to install a great game on my stick - Asphalt 8 4K.
Since that day, my life completely changed.
On one hand, I was thrilled by the quality and the performance of this beautiful car race game, but on the other hand, I started to receive daily messages that my stick memory is not enough for all the applications I had on it, and the cache memory can't save my actual progress on my favorite game.
These are some very troublesome messages from my beloved Fire TV 4K Stick.
So, I ordered ASAP a 1TG memory stick, with my sincere belief that this is the best solution to keep my favorite game going.
But actually, I was wrong, and after many tentatives to make this external memory visible for your device, like pre-formating the USB stick on FAT32, or trying to install first a 500GB USB stick, I took my phone and I called your call center.
And I was really surprised when your colleague told me that actually the Fire TV 4K Stick was not designed to support additional external memory.
What?
Are we in the 21st century, or not?
Is not Amazon the No 1 company on this planet?
So, what is this, guys?
Amazed by the fresh information received from your colleague which, by the way, was excellent and provided a very professional support, I asked her to check the ultimate Amazon TV device which is the Amazon TV Cube 4K.
All my hopes were ruined one more time.
Even on that top-of-the-line device from Amazon, the additional external memory is not supported.
So, what's happened with keeping up the good work, guys?
Asphalt 8 4K needs 2.5GB of memory in order to run properly.
And there are more and more 4K apps on your Apps Store which will require more and more memory space on your TV devices.
For the benefit of all of us, lovers of Prime TV and Amazon TV devices and apps, can you move a little bit the things with some new software and keep the pace with the trend of the market in memory devices?
If you can do that, I will remain always grateful, and I will be again your biggest fan!
Thank you very much.

Cristian

1.0 out of 5 stars Why advertise Netflix Atmos when it's not present??
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 November 2021
Style Name: Fire TV Stick 4KVerified Purchase
I'm sorry Amazon, but the advertisement of this device is very missleading and needs to sorted as soon as possible....

I have the old 4k firestick which didn't play Atmos on Netflix, but does on Disney and Amazon Prime... Though Amazon prime is incredibly limited in this capacity and finding Atmos content is akin to finding chicken teeth.

So on seeing the advert for this (please see picture) which stated it played Atmos on prime, Disney and Netflix I purchased it... And yes I have an Atmos capable device and have Netflix 4k

Amazon and Disney play Atmos and Netflix does not!

I'll add, I have updated the firestick in the faint hope it would sort it.... Restarted it and even reinstalled the app and signed back in.... But nope, no Atmos on Netflix.

Amazon, if you read these reviews.... Take the missleading information down... It's incorrect and grossly unfair to your customers.
I now have to send the firestick back, wait for the refund and try the Max.... Does it work on the max version as it claims it will??

I have a few Amazon devices and this is the first that has let me down... Though to be fair, it's not the device at fault it's Amazon's false advertising!

Not a happy customer Amazon, and it will be interesting to see how they respond.... If they do of course??
