At first glance i figured £60 was alittle excessive to spend on an almost 5 year old, but hey it's her birthday right? I didn't realise, until setting this little panda up that she comes with a years subscription of amazon kids, I downloaded the app onto my daughters iPad which keeps her entertained in the car on the journey to her grandparents.
Once I'd set the panda up my daughter took great pleasure in calling her nana and granddad which she now does every night to tell them goodnight and she will see them at the weekend. Poor Alexa is harassed on a daily basis from Alexa do the cake song to Alexa get funky, honestly if you have children they will love this, personally as a single parent I enjoy telling Alexa I love you for her to sing me a sweet little tune.
I paired this with a smart lightbulb which is pretty good as my daughter will now turn off her light before bed, previously this was a constant battle with me sneaking into her room like some member of MI5 just to turn the light off once she finally fell asleep.
Alexa has also come in really useful for things like asking the weather, dropping in on my daughter to tell her to come down for tea and asking Alexa to tell us a random fact!
For someone who thought this would be another ornament sat on her desk I have been pleasantly surprised.
Edit: I've noticed people asking if this can be used as a regular device rather than kids, the answer is yes, if you go onto the Amazon Alexa app, click on the device settings, scroll down to Alexa kids, click on it and click disable.
