4.0 out of 5 starsNot just a change in packaging, different wipes
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 April 2021
The last two boxes of WaterWipes I've purchased came in different packaging, and had a very prominent "new look - same great wipes" on the box. I assumed this meant that the packaging designed had been refreshed (to now also d more prominently say that they are biodegradable), but that the wipes themselves were exactly the same.
However, this is *not* the case: the new wipes are definitely not the same as the old wipes. A few differences (see photos):
- each packet of 60 wipes is physically slightly smaller
- the new ones weigh about 10% less than the old ones
- they are made of a slightly different material (or the production process is different): the new wipes rip easily in one direction, but the old wipes do not. (Of course this is not a problem for most use cases, however it does indicate there's a difference.)
- (more subjectively) the news ones don't seem to "dispense" quite as well: you're more likely to get two or more come out when you only wanted one. (Annoying and wasteful.)
The height and width is the same. I'm not sure why they weigh less--I guess because they're thinner?
They're still a good product, but I'm not sure how they're allowed to say "same great wipes" on the box, or carry over their existing reviews. If you're remembering WaterWipes being better (or at least different in the past), you're not imagining things!
