Have got multiple echo devices in the home as well many smart gadgets running from Alexa. I like the size of this screen and has great potential but there are glitches which will hopefully be ironed out. One of which is the facial recognition works but won't display my avatar no matter how many times I take a new pic or reset facial recognition. The device recognises it's me and my profile but just a blank avatar. Tried speaking to support who knew less about the device than I did. After spending several hours setting up the device, adding events to calendar etc, their only response was to ask me to factory reset. Standard. Early adopters be aware it's not working as the fancy advertising videos show it as yet. Hopefully will improve.

*update* I've spent 2 hours on the phone with numerous Amazon tech experts who have clearly never even seen an echo show 15, let alone understand the issues I'm facing. Amazon - do not launch an expensive product unless its a) fully tested and ready and b) you've trained your experts on how it works. It's so frustrating and time wasting when you have to explain simple issues numerous times to someone who claims to 'understand your concerns' when they clearly don't.

Amazing technology! Design… not so much.

First of all, this thing’s huge! I mean, it’s tank sized and weighted compared with an Echo Dot or Fire HD Tablet.

The picture quality is superb (not too sure about the whopping 3cm bezel) and the sound quality is good. The features are plentiful and smart home stuff is wonderful too but…

There’s only 2 cable routing options on the back. You can either route the power cable to the bottom or to the right and that’s your lot.
*I flipped the photo, looking from the back the channels are left and down. I also left the can of pop in for scale

And the mounting bracket, it’s too thin at the bottom. No way you’re getting 4 Command strips on there (they hold 7.2kg with 4 strips attached).

You’re only option is to table stand or wall mount this thing using the supplied bracket or by purchasing the additional stand. You can’t even mount it directly onto a surface, like a fridge, as the cable channels don’t go all the way to the edge of the device. You have to have it sitting 3-5mm off the surface, by using the supplied bracket which, is way to thin for attaching hanging strips or magnet strips to.

It looks very pretty and is absolutely lovely but, hardly any thought has been given to mounting the damn thing in any position except wall and stand. I so desperately wanted it to replace my existing Echo Dot and Fire HD 10 Tablet on the side of my fridge.
*yes, I’m aware that’s not the intended purpose but, that’s where we keep all of our organisation stuff and is the centre of our household.

On the whole good - but with flaws

So my initial impressions....

1. It's thicker than the marketing images suggest - There's a 1cm deep beveled section on the back so the black frame isn't flush with the wall. Given what an iPad is capable of, I do wonder why it's so bulky - speakers?

2. The screen looks like slightly old-school LCD with a backlight, rather than OLED or similar. Looks fine, but maybe some cost saving going on. I've had it on for an hour and it's not even warm though.

3. Touch screen is very responsive - far better than my 2nd Gen Show 10.

4. Widgets selection is limited, and the Calendar doesn't seem to refresh very often if I add things.

5. The power supply isn’t USB-C but old school cylinder style - Strange to see these days.

I'm keeping it and trusting the software will improve. On the whole I'm pleased.

I wouldn't mind a larger model though - Echo Show 25 anyone?

The Alexa device that I have wanted for years

Here is my review after 1 day with Echo Show 15 - hopefully this will help if you are on the fence about getting this Alexa device.

I have the Echo Show 15 in the hallway. I plan to mostly use it as a family organiser and first impressions are that it will work well for this.

1) It has so much potential and I expect it will get new features in future firmware updates
2) Setup was very easy. Choosing the best place to mount the Echo Show is the hardest part.
3) The wall mount is great and allows you to swap between portrait and landscape without unscrewing the mount.
4) All the family love it so far.
5) The screen is good quality and allows it to be used like a TV. This needs to taken in to account when selecting the place in the house for Echo. Some trying out of places to have the device, over a few days, may be required.
6) The interface is clean and has some useful widgets for lists, calendar and photos. I am happy with what is available so far but also hope extra features become possible with future updates.
7) Range of voice recognition is simply amazing.

Overall, it can do so many things that I think it is great value. It is going to work well for lots of different people and situations. Well done Amazon 🎉

I bought this to put in the kitchen to replace an original echo that finally gave up! I was so excited to unbox this and to be fair it looks beautiful - but I can't ignore the bugs that amazon have failed to iron out on this!

It was advertised as being able to switch between accounts on the fly for each user - this hasn't been my experience so far. It doesn't change the home screen, the Spotify accounts or the pictures or widgets, so if my partner asks to resume Spotify in his account, it still resumes mine.

It also for some reason selects to randomize all my playlists. Also when I'm trying to use the home control features that are quite seamless on the other echos, for some reason it doesn't want to work on this. When I ask it to go into photo frame mode that doesn't seem to work either, and when I select it manually it blasts through the pics really quickly, no matter what duration I set it to.

I have home monitoring enabled but I'm yet to be able to stream it to one of my other echo shows. Drop-in works so I just use that, but frankly I shouldn't have to. It just seems that the features that really sold me on this device just aren't working correctly. I've reset it and updated it to the most current firmware but the issues are still there.

It seemed ok at first so I've drilled holes in my wall for a product that, in my opinion , needs some rapid work on a software update! When this is updated properly I think it'll be an awesome bit of kit, but as it is right now I can't really recommend getting it. It's £240 for a product that feels like it's been rushed out to get the Christmas orders in. Hopefully Amazon will sort this out. Soon!!

Received this an hour ago, very easy to set up having ticked the link box when ordering, couldn't be simpler. Its big but very classy looking. Does everything I hoped for and more, sound quality is great, Watched a bit of Clarksons Farm on Prime video, decent sized screen to view. It will be wall mounted but have ordered a cantilever device so it can be stored flat but moved to be seen easily but be unobtrusive. Really nice addition to my Echo ensemble. Love the face and voice recognition so all the family can have a personalised tailored experience . Great Christmas present to myself on release day.

Have always preferred Amazon's Alexa to offering from Google, Microsoft and Apple. It just wins in every category from voice recognition to innovation. While this model does not have the bass of the Show 10, the sound quality is more than adequate for this form factor. All the usual convenience of having everything available on voice command, alongside a streaming TV, music player and smart home now with widgets, framed changeable art, big screen and a digital photo frame. Looks like a classy bit of kit and super easy to wall mount with the included bracket and 4 screws - do not even need to move the bracket to change orientation. Another Alexa win and brilliant price.

I don't normally write reviews but made an exception in this case. The Echo 15 is my first, other than a kindle, Amazon device with Alexa. I was most impressed. Amazon have produced an exceptionally useful device for certainly a kitchen possibly a dressing room/bedroom. I was not sure what to expect but I received a host of music options, including Spotify which I linked. Sadly I can't link my Apple Music library from my iMac. I have Netflix which was also available, even catch up TV via the internet browser. these have to be accessed by hand though Alexa will open the browser Bing/Google/Yahoo etc. Which can be changed in settings. Photo's uploaded via the Alexa app can be linked and displayed. Alexa, which can be changed to any name of choice - good move, in my opinion is better than Siri. Mainly because if you have requested music for example and its playing you need only speak normally and it will hear and respond. Siri can't be accessed when music is playing. I presume it can't differentiate my voice. The Echo 15 offers news, weather the fantastic ability to read out a recipe. How useful is that!!. all said. this is a great bit of tek. I love it. oh and you can also just ask for BBC news or radio 2 to play for example lol. sorry, just got it.

Looks amazing and is a great all round device for controlling smart home, viewing reminders, watching TV shows, listening to music.

The big disappointment is unfortunately the sound. There is no bass. You can sometimes hear the speakers struggling with certain media and get crackling feedback. I expected more.

Although the processor provides a big increase in responsiveness compared to previous issues, the echo 15 occasionally crashes when using silk browser or video services.

I hope most of these are bugs and will be ironed out in a software update or an improved version.

Another Echo not ready for market

Amazon has done it again and released another product that is not ready for market. It is pretty unbelievable how buggy this thing is. It has huge potential but the interface and software seem to have been designed by people who have no passion or interest in the project. Every single area needs massive improvement for it to do what it is supposed to do. It is also surprisingly slow and laggy and nowhere near as 'slim' as some of the photos make out. Amazon must stop releasing half-baked products (does anyone remember the Echo Connect?) especially when they are this expensive and supposed to be a flagship model. I hope they have some software upgrades in the pipeline to address the major issues and hopefully I can come back and update the rating. I can't give it more than 1 star because of the blatant issues that should never have made it out of the development process. It does have huge potential and so I will stick with it for now because I believe it can be great but I would recommend others save the disappointment and frustration and wait to see what software updates come out before taking the plunge.
