Biggest disappointment of the year

Waited two years for this game and disappointed feels like an understatement. The levels offer no challenge, and some take no more than around three minutes to complete. The ‘story’ is just running around essentially, while for some reason the original voice acting has been replaced with random actors. How this has happened is unbelievable when games like Lego Lord or the Rings had all of the original voice acting and that came out 10+ years ago. The combat is about the only good thing I’ve found in the game so far, as well as the nostalgic Star Wars sounds. What is the most crazy about this game for me is that it is so much worse than the original from early 2000s! And at £50 it really is not value for money. Such a big, big shame.

Preordered in March 2021 and got my copy 4 days before release date! Have played episode I & II so far - the game is fantastic. Many reports of bugs and glitches but only one has affected me so far on PS5 and a ‘quit to menu’ sorted it.

I got standard edition with Amazon’s Classic Pack but seemed to receive the full DLC packs including Mandolorian S1. Not sure if this is intended but very happy. I’ll check for the Classic’s when I work out who’s included.

All in all another great preorder from Amazon! Early copy and more DLC than expected due to their exclusives. 5 stars.

I love lego games most of them I would give 4 or 5 stars but this one is a little disappointing. Maybe its because they have tried to squeeze the whole star wars saga into one game it just feels a little rushed and 'hollow' I found I quickly got bored. The graphics are great as always, the usual lego game humour is there, the challenges are fun (but repetitive), there are probably too many collectibles (something a few lego games have suffered from of late)... some of the motion seems to make me feel a little nauseous (but thats not uncommon with PS5 games sadly). In all its definitely worth playing, hopefully you wont get bored and will see it through to the end.

Positives:

- Graphics are incredible with brilliant detail in the 15+ planets you can explore at any point. This emphasised by the use of dynamic lighting, Mustafar a clear example.
- Music is fantastic and adds to the worlds and levels alongside their film counterparts. Makes every world feel different.
- New combat system is far more complex than previous Lego games, allowing unique combinations for most characters. This feels like a true modern game, rather than a button mash that previous games would adopt.
- Size of game; lots of popular characters, most with dialogue and one-on-one interactions that keep you occupied. Would not recommend 'mumble mode' and maintain the dialogue - very funny.
- Classic Lego game comedy is still at the heart of the core game

Negatives
- Some voice acting isn't fantastic; Ben Solo/Kylo Ren a standout for not being close to Adam Driver's iteration.
- Some bugs that plague the game; character freezes during Boss Battles, some graphical errors which force
- Some levels (especially in the Sequels catalogue) feel weaker than the prequels/originals

An opinion I've heard constantly is that this game feels shorter than the older versions of Lego Star Wars - I disagree. Simply put, this game is ultimately for those 12 and under, and the audience playing is well above the target audience planned for. Nostalgia has blinded many into thinking that this should have been a 50-60hr story, when this was never the case. Play it for what it is - a hugely fun kids game with plenty of quality and collectables! Ultimately this is the best Lego Game that has ever been produced and a huge step up in quality!

I can’t find anything positive about this game.
My son and I have been waiting for so long having played the other games on my old wii.
For a start 2 player is split screen… why!! Just why!
The game play … you don’t actually need to do anything to compete a level. It’s a run through without having to do anything or put any thought in to it.
Made for 3 year olds!
Such a waste of money! (And time playing it… no reward playing a game like that)
If I could have given zero stars I would have!

Very few, short levels of boring design. Most of the game involves you walking throughout the hub world looking for your next mission. The game is bloated with endless side objectives and over 1000 collectibles. If you're a fan of the Ubisoft open-world formula you might like this but I am not impressed. It PALES in comparison to the far superior PS2 version. The only upside is the graphics, which are excellent, but then let down by laughably dismal, barren level designs. Each episode is only about 90 minutes long. Very small children might find this exciting but I was expecting better.

Be careful when cancelling an order!

I placed three separate orders for my children’s Easter presents, but needed to cancel one of the items. I didn’t realise Amazon had decided to deliver the items together so they cancelled all three items. I reordered the two items but didn’t get them in time for Easter morning. I complained to Customer Service, who weren’t very helpful, and ended the chat while I was still discussing the issue. I’m fuming and expected much better customer service. Not impressed at all so ⭐️ for customer appalling service. As for the game, it is great and my son loves it.

Split screen is horizontal rather than landscape. The older games are a lot better and the newer one causes motion sickness. Just poor split screen compared to older games and no way to change it in settings. Even if they made it so you could zoom the camera out would be better as all I can see is a giant character and nothing around me

Different to the original lego starwars. Its more of an open world, and strange to get used to if your only one experience with lego games is the old lego star wars.

Its great if you go into it with an open mind and wanting to explore the galaxy. You will like it if you like the newer lego games e.g. incredibles.

Lots of exploring to do outside the levels!
