A must have for any parent

Brilliant little gadget this. Used them for my 2 children and recently purchased the Goregg 2 for my 3rd child.
The light is bright I'd admit but it's it's far better than the series 1. The accuracy is spot on, the reason I use these is because all my kids have been born in summer time so maintaining a cool environment for a baby is vital, this will prevent your baby from over heating by simply monitoring the temperature gauge.

A must have for any parent in my opinion. Also good to use in winter months as will tell you if your room is too cold.

Dire product. Do not purchase. Doesn’t show correct temperature, lights don’t match up with the corresponding temperature and the whole thing is so poorly built that when you pick it up it simply changes colour, temperature or turns off. Cheap piece of plastic, Tomee Tippee should be ashamed.

I do like aspects of this room thermometer. I like the appearance. It is a big size and has a bright light, that you can dim. You can quickly see and from a distance what the room temperature is.

It comes with a short USB lead, but no plug adapter. Initially I wasn't too bother, I just used the plug adapter from a phone, but it doesn't appear to have any charging ability. I have to keep it plugged in all the time which I didn't realise when I purchased. I don't like having an appliance plugged in near the baby all the time, especially if I'm not there, so not using it in his nursery. I also can't use it for travel. It was relatively pricey for what it is. I wouldn't buy it again.

I liked the soft lighting when ambient temperature is reached. It looks like a nice product too.

However, the blue light which comes on when temperature is deemed sub-optimal is fairly harsh, is too bright for a night light and well... cold. It's perhaps unreasonable to have the house warmed to an ambient temperature constantly and so, blue light will likely display for the majority of the time - especially at night.

Also, it isn't wireless, needing to be plugged in, and only a USB cable was supplied. This is an odd and frustrating feature.

It seems over-priced too.

If I didn't mistakenly discard the packaging soon after I bought it, I would've returned the product.

Great gadget, but not flawless

I agree with what other reviewers have written about the absence of internal battery, thus the need for a "power brick". To work around the power brick and short propriatory cable issues, I bought a battery bank (an external phone battery) for it but the draw is no enough to keep the power bank staying on.

The manufacturer could have just fitted a USB micro socket on the egg and that would have allowed customers to buy their own connecting cable with a length right for them.

Good, but some annoyances

Overall I'm happy with this purchase, but there is one major thing that annoys me. The difference in intensity of light changes massively when the temperature crosses one of the pre-defined boundaries. These are above 20 degrees or below 16 degrees. This means that when the temperature is right around 20 degrees, you'll see the light flicking between the red colour (over 20) and the orange colour (20 or less) - as the temperature inevitably fluctuates by 0.1 degrees fairly regularly. The orange is much brighter than the red so it can be quite disruptive when this happens if it's the only light source - even with eyes closed. Even moreso when the temperature drops below 16, the blue is extremely bright so really brightens up the room. It'd be great if there was a more gentle change, more gradual colours, or the ability to just set the light to a single colour and not have it respond to temperature (and just pay attention to the temperature gauge below).

Of course this doesn't happen super regularly, so for the most part it works fine - but just very annoying at these times!

On the plus side, the light is squidgy and lightweight - meaning it's easily portable. It can be plugged into any USB plug so widely compatible. And I'm happy that the temperature readings are accurate - which I suppose is really the most important thing!

Bought to replace older model

Bought this newer model to replace the older version I had for my son ready for when new baby arrives, just as easy to set up just plug in & its ready. Annoying it doesn’t come with a plug anymore but we have plenty of old phone chargers kicking around. I feel this model is more sensitive then the older one as it jumps up to red quite quickly even though the room doesn’t feel as hot as it says it is then takes a while to come back down if we open the windows.

The media could not be loaded.

This product is awful. It has a design flaw so that the power connector is loose. This means whenever you touch it, it resets itself. I got a replacement and the second was the same, another 20+ ladies agreed on Facebook theirs were faulty too. Also doesn’t give a reliable temp reading according to other thermometers I have. Don’t waste your time and money.

I love this! Having read a lot about different room thermometers and night lights for baby, I finally settled on the GroEgg2. It’s small, but so easy to use and the heat reading is clear to see. Mine is a usb charger, but it doesn’t come with the plug FYI. I’m just using an old phone plug I had, and it works fine. There is also a dimmer switch which had three settings as well as off.

This new and improved version is a lot easier to read at a distance.

My only complaint is that although it comes with a USB lead it does not come with a power supply so I had to find an old phone power supply to use. This is all well and good but could cost you £5 to buy one of you don't have a spare laying around.

Over all I recommend this product.
