Awful Adjustment Period! (but amazing!)

- HEAVY ADJUSTMENT PERIOD! : this means that the cleanser will begin to push all the trapped dirt, impurities and excess oil out your pores, causing heavy breakouts as your skin purges. If you stick with it, it will calm down.
- being honest it doesn’t give me clear skin, but it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces acne and breakouts, I’m a 17yo boy so I expected to get a few spots.
- little goes a LONG way, half a pump and your good for your face.
- doesn’t leave skin dry and tight
- it is fading my acne scars, I have a deep skin tone, so it works against very dark scars.
-overall really good

So quarantine life had my skin completely messed up don’t know why 🤷🏽‍♀️ but I decided to take a stand and get it in check before lockdown was lifted by using this so called wonderful product 🤨. Biggest mistake ever! After using for only three days I saw improvements no new break out of spots old ones fading. (After 15 year of struggling with “bad/achy prone” I thought my prayers were answered🙌🏽). However my skin was starting to change for the worse as this left my skin very very very (did I say very) dry like the Sahara desert dry🏜, which at first I didn’t mind because I have combination oily skin and I just thought okay I’ll go a little extra with the moisturising 🧴. Oh but no it didn’t stop there my skin (which is not usually sensitive) became dry, flaky, sore to touch and I received clusters of hyperpigmentation patches on my forehead, around my mouth in the crevices of my nose and flareups along my jaw line. I couldn’t believe what I was going through I’m just glad it happened during quarantine when no one could see my face except for the post man and even he was confused 😐 (Poor guy must of thought he delivered the parcel to the wrong house). I was lucky enough to act quickly by identifying what was causing the problem and fix it. Please oh please be careful take note 📝.

I have waited 9 weeks in order to give my honest and unbiased review.

After reading that this product contained salicylic acid, I thought that this would be the holy grail for my keratosis pilaris... street name, strawberry skin.

It came on the 4th of March and I originally used it everyday for about 3 weeks with a loofah sponge during my daily showers. I now use it twice a week. The last picture was before I started using it.

As time went by, I noticed that I started to get a lightened complexion on my legs but didn’t really mind as the dots were fading (2nd pic 23/04/2021). The scar on my left leg also started to fade.

With continued use, I did notice that the appearance of my skin was rather dry. This was extremely weird for me as I am OBSESSED with using lotion. On average, I use two bottles of 200ml of lotion per month. Nonetheless, I still continued to use it as I desperately want clear legs. Only this time, I’ve mixed olive oil with the lotion to really moisturize it to combat the excessive dryness.

The first picture is what my legs look like after 9 weeks. I must say I do see a difference but I feel that the massive change was brought about with an exfoliating glove which I’ve now incorporated into my shower routine twice a week.

I also no longer shave my legs. I instead use hair removal cream (NAIR; a godsend actually)

Verdict: I do see a difference and as a woman of colour I would recommend this to those within that bracket as finding products that will work for us isn’t easy without having horrible side effects (STAY AWAY FROM DIFFERIN). I’ll just say use at your own risk and discretion.

This (and/or the matching moisturiser) caused so much irritation and acne.

For reference: I have very sensitive, acne prone skin with rosacea flare ups.

It didn’t work for me, but doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. Like every skin product, it’s trial and error as we all have very different skin types.

It seemed that overnight my skin became unhappy. Never suffered with spots or lumps under the skin when young, so was surprised to see some springing up and my skin becoming dry in places also. Immediately hit all the reviews and weighed up all options between this versus that....and finally bought this and the green moisturising one. Found that this on its own (couple of pumps worth) felt very drying even after using serum and face cream afterwards so I personally mix the two (1 pump this, 2 pumps of the moisturising one). This also stops my face from over-production of oil during the day/ overnight.
This WORKS! No more break-outs and my skin has lost that slightly red glow that it had started to have from over-production of sebum. Feeling more and more happy about my skin as the days go by.

I've been using this for only 10 days and I think I can feel the difference. It's not a miraculous change but I certainly feel I have a less "bumpy" forehead and overall smoother skin.
My skin is oily-combination, I don't tend to get a lot of pimples, but a few here and there. I get oily forehead with a few bumps under the skin. At first I tried using morning and evening but it was a bit too much and made my skin feel tight. Once a day is working perfectly.
So glad I bought this, feels like a long term product!

Better than Cerave hydrating cleanser as that gave me spots and big pores and irritated my skin.
But after some months of use I’m not sure about this being for Rosacea type skin.
But I’m struggling to find a replacement at the moment.
