4.0 out of 5 starsIt isn't quite an Oral B
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 March 2021
I like Philips products and have used their oral health products before.

Personally I think that these handles and heads are effective at removing dental plaque, but not quite as well as a similar oral b product does. Both products use an ultra sonic cleaning method to vibrate the mono filaments in the brush head to vibrate dental plaque away. The difference in my view is that the oral B uses a stiffer fibre and more importantly, which the ultra sonic level is lower, the oral b incorporates mechanical cleaning as well. In this regard I have tested this Bruch and handle using dental disclosing tablets, which strain the translucent dental plaque to make it more obvious. I found that the Philips brush and head to be effective, but not as effective as the equivalent oral b product.

So why did I purchase this brush? I alternate between this brush and my oral b Bruch as I find that the softer brush head and less mechanical brushing process is more comfortable for my teeth where I suffer dental hypersensitivity.

2.0 out of 5 starsDon't choose Sonicare; they just don't last longer than a year and a half.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2019
This is the 3rd Sonicare toothbrush we have bought which develops a fault shortly after the warranty runs out. Our current brush one has started to turn itself on randomly, so now we have to wrap it in a towel so it doesn't wake us up at night. The last one I bought did the same thing and the one before that would not re-charge. For an expensive toothbrush, it's just not good enough Philips. In searching for a solution (like a reset), I see that it's a very common problem. That was the last Sonicare brush we will buy; I'm sticking to Oral B, which is another electric toothbrush we have owned without issues for 3 years.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken again - the fourth one to break
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2020
Verified Purchase
I like the toothbrush when it works - it gets my teeth really clean. However, this is the fourth one in a row that has broken within 1-3 years. This one actually lasted just over 2 years, but previous lasted between 1 and 2 years before breaking.
They all get exactly the same problem - the vibration gets so weak that it no longer cleans my teeth. For some of this it started getting weaker even before 1 year old, but by 2 years is really weak. For at least one of them this happened fairly suddenly.
Therefore there seems so be a design fault. I can see online that many other people get the same issue. This is an expensive toothbrush, and it is not acceptable for them to consistently break so soon.
Philips, please sort out this problem!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 January 2021

I've had a number of Sonicare toothbrushes and thought this was the same as ones I've bought before. I foolishly thought the price had just gone down but alas, it was just a very inferior model. Disappointing as it looked like the features and spec were the same as I'd had before. Turned out to be a false economy, sadly. I am now going to have to purchase the more expensive model anyway. I don't think this is a good toothbrush at all I'm afraid. Very disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is nothing like earlier Sonicare models

If you've had Sonicare before don't buy this. This is nothing like earlier Sonicare models, its very noisy and I can only assume Philips have cut their costs dramatically to produce this version. I sent it back and ordered the HX6732/45 instead which is a much better product but very expensive.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not sure it is a genuine Phillips product
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 November 2020

The product does work which is why I have not returned it, however my first cause for concern was when I registered the product with Phillips I could not find this model number, so put down one that was similar. Also no matter how long I leave it on charge the charging light never stops flashing, and then the battery warning light shows after only one week.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wheel it last for 8 mounts..... not brillient
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 June 2021

First of all, I would like to mention that I normally don't write reviews (at all) but in the case of Philips Sonicare Toothbrushes and specially DailyClean 3100 I felt that I need to. If my count is correct these are the 4th Sonicare Toothbrushes I owned in the last 5 years.
Generally, this product doesn't last long and are more like disposable
toothbrushes then something we use to call electronic device. 4 out of 5 toothbrushes developed an issue where they had just did not move too fast and strong enough to clean properly but still there was some movement and the user just don't notice it straight away (until one day then you use a new Philips Sonicare toothbrushes or is so bad that can be ignored).

But in the case of Philips Sonicare DailyClean 3100 it just stopped working after 8 months for this I would give it 2 stars but in comparison to my previous Sonicare toothbrushes, this one was the low budget option (lesson learned) and was not equipped with "sensor" that minimize the power when pushed too hard, this effect in massive gum pain and in general was not too comfortable to use (bulky) for this reason that I think is just degrease and really bad made I will give it 1 star and highly advice everyone to stay away for this particular model. For Philips Sonicare in general the quality of cleaning is great and just you need to be prepared to change more often than you are used to and as they are so much expensive that is a big factor to consider.

Update:
Battery last for 5 days. Mush shorter then premium models.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never buy cheaper Sonicare toothbrushes
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 October 2021
Colour Name: WhiteConfiguration: SingleVerified Purchase
I've owned Sonicare toothbrushes for several years and the 3100 is one of the worst models I've purchased.

Firstly, with 2 mins usage twice a day it took over 24 hours to recharge the battery - and that is with weekly recharging!

Secondly, the body of the 3100 is quite large. Higher spec models are much thinner.

Thirdly, the toothbrush lasted less than 17 months before it finally gave of the ghost. What a waste of money!

My advice? Look for higher spec models when they are heavily discounted.

1.0 out of 5 stars Battery Is Useless (Under One Year Old)
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 May 2022
Colour Name: WhiteConfiguration: SingleVerified Purchase
I bought a Sonicare back in 2016 and it lasted a good 5 years before the rubber around the head perished and water found its way inside ruining it. And it was a great toothbrush. So it was a no-brainer to buy a new replacement last August. However, the battery life has steadily been getting worse and worse. Now it doesn’t work for more than a 2-3 days between having to be sat recharging for almost two days. Yesterday it died whilst I was using it, which has never happened before. Apparently it can be fixed within 14 days, which is great, but what do you recommend that I brush my teeth with in the meantime, given I spent so much on this toothbrush to do the job? Why not just buy a different electric toothbrush to do the job and be done with it? I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. The cheap battery that Sonicare has put-into this makes it a very expensive electric toothbrush to last less than a year of use. My parents by contrast have Oral B electric toothbrushes and the battery life is incomparibly better. Unless you like burning money, avoid this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A satisfactory purchase
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 April 2018

Bought to replace a basic sonicare which had stopped charging (again). Only when it arrived did we discover it was the recharging base of the old one that had failed, not the brush itself! Anyway, the new one works fine and, being a little 'fatter', is easier to hold whilst cleaning teeth. Apart form that, little different from the cheaper one apart from the option to select different speeds, but we only have it on 'full' anyway, which is the same.
