It's a decent case... But it smells like fish

So the product itself is fine. Viewing angles are pretty good and price is very fair. It could have benefitted from stronger magnets that held the back closed when using the iPad (currently it just flaps about if you don't hold it down). The main issue, and the reason I am returning it, is it smells like fish.

It absolutely reeks of this fishy stench which makes your hands stink after holding it, and makes the iPad stink after it's been put on. When I first opened the package, it felt like someone had opened up a seafood market in my bedroom. It absolutely reeked. I hoped it would fade away over a day or two but alas, it still smells like Nemo.

Mine arrived yesterday. Purchased for the bargain price of £9.99 😊 I had skimmed through the other reviews and half prepared myself for something stinky to arrive, and had some room spray at the ready. I needn’t have bothered. Mine smells, ever so slightly of silicone/rubber and not at all unpleasant. I think I got lucky based on the other reviews regarding odours. It smells fine.

The case itself fits iPP like a glove and seems secure in the magnetic hold.

I like that the Apple Pencil can also magnetise to the front of the case, allowing for somewhere to hold the pencil without it being continually docked to the charge point. Nice touch.

The case stays closed and does not flop open, even if rigorously trying, it stays put, however when folding the front cover behind the iPad (in hold) the magnet here does not seem strong enough to secure the cover part, so kinda flaps open. This is not really an issue for me personally since I tend to hold the iPad with my right hand, and so my grip keeps the cover from flapping. I might add a small Velcro fastener later but it’s really not an issue for me right now.

The inner material is some type of thin fleece and not particularly pleasing. Feels a bit cheap tbh. It does however feel soft and appears to be wipe clean. I am sure it will serve its purpose of keeping the screen protected though

It’s a superb case for the price. Feels sturdy in both stand positions. No wobble when using pencil etc. Other than the couple nitpicks i mentioned, I’m actually surprised how decently made this case looks. Looks really smart against the silver frame of my iPP. Looks significantly more expensive than it is.

Great case for the price

Fantastic case for the price.

I haven’t tested the drop protection for obvious reasons but the magnetic attachment sticks with a reassuring grip and lines itself up well. There is a very slight soft lip over the edges of the iPad once fitted which should afford some protection during a fall, as well as the obvious front and back covers.

The sleep/wake function is flawless and it doesn’t add a lot of bulk to the device.

The ability to fold the front cover in to stand the iPad up (as pictured) is also very handy.

The design will allow a pencil to attach and charge as well.

No complaints at all for this price and very happy so far

Not very secure, and stank of fish

I like the feel of this case, and the lining on the inside is a good material that doesn't seem to attract hair and dust the way other cases have in the past (I have 2 dogs, so that's important for me).

Unfortunately, this case arrived smelling very strongly of fish for some bizarre reason, something I saw noted in other reviews but thought it may have been an exaggeration - it's not.

The magnets are not very secure, and the area around the camera is loose and doesn't connect to the iPad at all.

I also don't like the feel of the edges. This is where the material is cut, and it felt like the edges would fray and wear away quickly with repeated use. They already started to bend with my limited use upon receiving the item.

Not what I was expecting. I've had this brand for previous iPads but this was not up to the level of quality I had previously come to expect. I've only given the second star on account of the materials used, but that wasn't enough for me to keep it, so I returned it.

I did read quite a few reviewers saying that this case was not really ‘sticking’ to the iPad, to be honest, i have the Magic Case and i can see what they mean, that one is very strong, with the JETech Magnetic Case, you get magnets, it sticks, but there is a much higher element of uncertainty, if you held on to the cover and let the iPad hang, it would 100% slide off, but to be honest, who would do that? In my opinion, the iPad device is so expensive and precious you probably (more than likely) would be handling it like a baby even with the case on.

The Jetech is a lovely case and i love using it when i want to read magazine and don’t want to have it horizontally, its slim and feels great when closed. Overall magnets a side, this is still a fantastic case that is decent priced and one i would recommend for those who can overlook that minor flaw.

Brilliant alternative to Apple's insanely overpriced smart folio

I bought this because I needed a light weight protective case for my 12.9" iPad pro but was unwilling to pay for the insanely overpriced official Apple smart folio. I chose this JeTech case because I have quite a few of their products which have all served me well and so was expecting no less from this case.

I've had this case for just over a year and it still works with no issues. This is a slim case so it's important to bear that in mind when it comes to protecting your iPad Pro. Whilst the case will protect your iPad's screen and back it will offer little to no protection for the edges and definitely wont protect your apple pencil when placed on the charging area. With that said it's still a great case. It's fairly strong, sturdy and durable. When open and folded over it serves as a stand with 2 different position for 2 different viewing angles.

installing is so easy, just attach the case onto your iPad and it snaps into place thanks to the built in magnets. The magnets are fairly strong and do stay in place when attached and also when you close the front cover. However the cover will move slightly if you apply a bit of pressure. This is not a problem or a deal breaker as it will not affect the over all performance of the case, the close to sleep and raise to wake feature still works just fine. The case is not just slim but its very light weight too making it perfect for you iPad's portability. The case itself also has a nice feel because of the premiums PU leather material and the inside is lined with microfiber cloth so your iPad's back isn't scratched when inside the case (yes that does happen with some cases) but just for extra protection I lined my iPad with a vinyl skin wrap. Over all this case is very good and for the price offers excellent value for money. I can confidently recommend this case. Hope this helps.

Cheap and cheerful, but does the job

Before I get into my review let’s address the elephant in the room. On Arrival this cover STINKS and it’s one of the most disgusting smells of rotten fish I’ve ever come across. However, after airing out for a night the smell was all but gone, and a day later it was fully gone.

Honestly you’d think they’d do that before packaging them for sale, because it doesn’t help them at all.

Now, for its price I like this case. It’s not a heavy duty case and is designed more just to give a layer of protection to the screen. Which it accomplishes perfectly, with an added bonus of protecting the back of the iPad from scratches and knocks, which the Apple Smart Cover doesn’t even do.

It attaches nicely with magnets and holds the Ipad firm, which I was surprised by given the weight 0f the iPad Pro.

I do have concerns over its longevity, but let’s be honest even if I have to replace it once a year, given it’s cost, that’s negligible and fine.

UPDATE: I unfortunately had an accident recently and my iPad, in this case, went flying. Surprisingly my iPad survived with only a minor scratch to one corner (and is frankly unnoticeable). The case however is a right off, with significant damage to both the front and back.

As far as I’m concerned this case has more than lived up to my expectations, and will be replacing it with the same one again!
