How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I am so happy Amazon started selling this in the UK at a reasonable price, used to buy loads of it in Italy and was very bummed I couldn't find it here. My hair looks and feels so much better when I use this product, and even my hairdresser was amazed by how healthy and strong it was. I mostly use it as a leave in, but sometimes also as a mask for 15-20 minutes. As a leave in, I just put a 50p-sized amount on my palms and scrunch it into dripping wet hair until it is absorbed, then I just air-dry or diffuse as it is. It's so nourishing my hair has gone back to be super-curly in a month. Should this not be enough: it smells fabulous! Can't recommend it enough.

3.0 out of 5 starsSmells good but doesn’t work on processed hair
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 September 2019
Smells lovely.

Does it work on processed blonde hair? Not really. I tried this in a desperate attempt to try and make my blonde hair not feel so dry to the touch. It works lovely as a leave in conditioner, but over the weeks of using it didn’t really improve my hairs condition overall. However my hair did feel softer when it was left in, but as soon as it was rinsed out, my hair felt rough again, so probably just masking the dryness and not rectifying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars They smell absolutely amazing

I have purchased 3 of these 4 hair foods each designed for different hair types. The banana is for dry hair , the papaya is for damaged hair and the coconut is for frizzy & unruly hair. The latter I bought at a well known high street chemist as it was on offer . They all smell absolutely amazing, infact almost good enough eat! They all leave my hair lovely and soft no matter whether I used it as a conditioner , hair mask , or just put a small amount on the ends. The pots are large ,easy to open and thus scoop some up in your hand even if they are wet.
As there is no pump dispenser you won't waste any 😺

Right. I don’t normally leave reviews but I NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT THIS. Bit of background: I have very long fine but thick hair, making it easily damaged. I’ve just had 2 rounds of bleach and preparing for the 3rd to achieve a level 10 (natural level 6). My hair could have been much worse but of course after the bleach it was looking pretty dry and the salon Olaplex had worn off. I applied this to my thirsty-ass dry hair before bed. Might I say, I was a bit put off by how sticky it made my hair but I went with it. Skip to morning. Rinsed with warm water and it felt better than Olaplex. Wet it felt like absolute silk and I was actually able to BRUSH it wet. Normally my hair is too fine to brush wet as it matts and stretches. My brush glided right through. Dried I can definitely see and feel the difference. The individual hair strands feel actually repaired and smooth rather than gunky like some other brands. Right so to summarise this is on par with Olaplex on my hair. Coco and eve does nothing for me, Osmo does nothing. It also smells amazing and I can still smell it after drying. It’s like a Solero ice cream. TRY THIS.

It arrived with dirty tape around of it, which made me feel that any old person got their hands on it before it came to me. Definitely didn't come directly from the company like it would have you believe. Very worrying as there are some unkind people out there who might slip anything in there. The smell was also a little off. I've brought other ones from the high street, and non of them smelt like this. Really strange smell. I really can't be bothered to send it back with the current situation the post office is rammed, so I'm just throwing it out. Better safe then sorry. Beware.

1.0 out of 5 stars This product contains silicones - I am allergic
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2021

I really need to use this product, however when I read the ingredients on the tub it has silicones in it. I am unable to use it as I am allergic to SILICONE!!!! I read the ingredient list on the website and it does not have the word SILICONE in it, perhaps it's one of those scientific names that most people don't understand? The are many other people who are allergic to SILICONE TOO!! Perhaps it would be wise to put that on the website as well in clearly visible CAPITAL letters so you don't get sued by some poor soul who has lost their hair or has a nasty swollen, red scalp. Hope you take notice of this it is important for both you and us. Thanks Sue TV

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing for curly hair✨
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 February 2021

I have curly 3B/3C hair so I bought the Papaya (damage), Coconut (frizz) and Banana (dryness) masks and used them combined as a leave in after washing my hair. The jars are huge and definitely a great value for money, and each one smells ✨HEAVENLY✨ (the Papaya one in particular). I applied straight onto wet hair and combed it through to ensure all of my hair was coated and then left my hair to air dry. My hair felt incredibly soft, smelled amazing and once dry, my curls felt hydrated but not weighed down with tons of product and there was no greasy/oily residue. Also my curls look really healthy and defined. I honestly was a little sceptical about these masks, but they are brilliant and super affordable. I will definitely be buying more of these.

5.0 out of 5 stars LIFE SAVER FOR MY FRIZZY CURLS
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 October 2021

Wow where do I begin! I am mixed race half bajan and Irish and I have very curly thick hair that frizzes A LOT.

A week or so ago I bought the whole aunt jackies restoration product range to try and bring some life back to my curls after having braids for a couple of months and although the co wash was nice the other products just didn't seem to do much for me.

I have used the Garnier banana food mask before and it did wonders but it wasn't giving me everything a holy grail product could.

So I then thought why not try this papaya one as it says it helps to repair damaged hair and OMG this product is the best I have ever used. I washed my hair and applied some to my curls, pineappled and left overnight and I woke up to the best curls I have had in MONTHS.

My hair looks bouncy, defined, full of volume and everything I knew it has the potential to be. I have just stock bought some more as I think I may have found my holy grail and all in one pot which is a life saver. Fellow curly haired girls will know the pain of having 100 products on hand but I have come to find a leave in all natural no silicone formula works the best for me.

It smells beautiful and fingers crossed my hair continues to love it!! My frizz is gone and my curls look amazing xx

edit - day three and the curls are still AMAZING :)

5.0 out of 5 stars My neglected hair, now undone
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 February 2021

During lockdown I've been really unkind to my hair. I frequently leave it it long enough between washes and even brushes that it becomes matted. Having to ó forcibly comb through my already fine locks has left it in a sorry state. I decided I needed to give my hair a little tlc, so I bought this. I wasn't expecting much due to the state my hair was in. Once open the smell was really strong and pleasant. It smells, looks, and feels like papaya yoghurt. A little goes a long way, and even though it feels thin, it applies really well. I decided to leave it on overnight for maximum benefit. Even before washing my hair I noticed my hair was really shiny. Worried this would leave a lot of heavy residue, I washed it out, and took my time doing so with warm water. To my surprise my hair was now shiny and lusciously soft, and very noticeably healthier. The split ends that made up the majority of my ends, have been rendered obsolete. I'm sure this is only temporary but until I'm able to get a hair cut that's fine by me.
I thoughts I'd be important to talk about the lack of care and neglect I'd put my hair through, as I'm sure there are many many others who've done the same during lockdown; and would also be looking for a fix. I can happily recommend this beautiful hair mask 100%. It's inexpensive, and does a fantastic job!

5.0 out of 5 stars My holy grail for haircare!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 July 2022
Verified Purchase
To start with, I have overly processed home bleached hair with split ends galore, and to not improve on things I also colour my hair with different colourant brands. So you can imagine how unhealthy my hair condition would be.

Seeing this product sometimes on the discount shelves, I wondered if this was a wise buy as it always seemed to be in abundance. However seeing this advertised so much in social media, I thought why not give it a try? Got one discounted again from Amazon, opened up the tub and this amazing sweet smell of papaya wafted across my nostrils. Getting excited, I applied some on my dry hair before even showering, and instantly it made my hair strands very soft and not damaged looking at all!

The first time I used it, I treated it like usual conditioner, which felt great by itself and somehow much more potent than usual conditioners. The next time I used it, I thought maybe I'd use it like leave in conditioner just like it suggested itself, and by gosh it was amazing how straight and soft my hair felt after blow drying it with cold air! It got to a point where I was treating it like hair lotion, by having the tub on my desk and just using a thumb size amount on my fingers to work into my dry hair when I felt like it got a little frizzy at work.

Then I started to experiment. I was still colouring my hair, and whilst i was short of pastelizer/ hair conditioner (as this product had replaced its need in my bathroom), I mixed in my colourants with a good amount of the good papaya stuff and applied on my hair as I usually would. After giving it some time, my hair turned out to be the perfect pastel shade, and the plus side is my hair looks so much more healthy than it usually would!

I've gotten the watermelon one as well, but it doesn't seem to work the same as the papaya one. If you have very damaged hair and want to nurse it back to health without breaking the bank, give this one a try!
