How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsExcellent cleaning, but....
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 January 2019
I'm somewhat conflicted here. On one hand, I think Philips Sonicare products are probably the best teeth cleaning devices you can get short of actually going to a dentist. I've been using these for years, and on my last visit to a dentist, was told I had no tartar at all, either visible on an x-ray or a visual inspection. Dental health, like anything else, is complex, but brushing with these twice a day will go a long way to staving off complications.

On the other hand, £16 for two small plastic brushes ? £8 each ? I suppose you could argue "What price dental health ?", but I'm also thinking the profit on these brushes is into 1000%+ territory; the actual motorised brushes aren't cheap either.

Phillips, if you made these £9.99 instead I'd feel much better about the whole thing.

I really think these are fake. With a whitening brush head the settings should change automatically to white. It doesn't feel quite as heavy as my original C3 brush. The brush cover is completely different. What a waste of money. I'll pay Boots prices next time. Look at my pics and decide...

This cannot be genuine. Used a handful of times over 3 days and it looks like I’ve been using it for months. Don’t buy. I’ve had the toothbrush for couple of years with wife and used different (white) Philips heads and they’re fine

1.0 out of 5 stars Wish Philips had stuck with the old design, with changeable colours
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 November 2020
Colour Name: WhiteSize Name: 8Style Name: SingleVerified Purchase
If you, like me, live in the same household as another Sonicare user you may be disappointed with these brush heads. Unlike the older design, they don't allow you to personalise the colour of the ring at the base of each brush, so you have no way of easily distinguishing between who's brush is who's.

Pretty much the first electric tooth brush I remember using - must have been more than two decades ago - allowed you to change a coloured ring at the base of the brush head. A very simple and useful feature when you have one family or couple sharing a bathroom, and/or using the same tooth brush handle. Or at the very least, if you simply prefer one shade of blue to another. Indeed, the older model Sonicare I was until recently using (until it broke), allowed you to do this.

But it seems that Philips' Sonicare designers, in their wisdom, have decided to abolish this feature. The ring at the base of these brushes is plain white and can't be removed. Ah, but there is now a 'smart' feature, a clever little sensor embedded in each brushhead that allows your Sonicare to remind you when to replace the brush head. If one feature had to be traded off with another, I really wish they had kept the changeable colours. In any case, I'm not sure there is any practical benefit to having a brush that knows when you need to bin it, given that you can usually determine that very easily yourself, simply by looking at whether the brush is worn out. But given the price of these things, I'm sure Philips would like you to replace them as often as possible...

So while I have been committed to Philips Sonicare for many years, the fact they have so carelessly binned a useful feature in the name of 'progress', makes me wonder whether I should bin them instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth! Disappointed!

Very disappointed as the toothbrush quality is not as good as expected. There is a sharp plastic spur at the middle of the brush, that it hurted my gum when I brushing my teeth!
And the brush will intermitten stop vibrate while I using Gum Care/ Deep Clean mode. The gapping between the bruah head and the handle seems not like normal.
It is totally not worth that price, and wonder isn't it Genuine?

2.0 out of 5 stars Clean well, but fall off during use.

[updated September 2021. Changed heads from the same pack and left the same head on. This one is not falling off. Not sure if there’s just some variation between them. More likely it’s because we now have a Sonicare each so don’t have to swap heads twice a day. So probably ok if that’s you, but if you’re sharing a Sonicare handle, not so good.

Original review.

We've bought cheaper but genuine Sonicare gets previously. Those have been very good, but these seem to clean and prevent plaque build up when better.

However, they are virtually unusable as they fall off the handle within a few seconds. We've hand Sonicares for years (before even Philips for gold of them and ruined them) and not had this problem before.

We even got a replacement handle from Philips, but that's made no difference. Your experience may be different (it appears they work fine for many people).

There seems to be a fundamental design flaw with the Philips Sonicare system which was not present on the proposal Sonicares.

The handle is now held on just by being a tight fit. We've had two games which failed because eventually the shaft which holds the head just broke in the handle and fell out. That seems to be becauae of the stress of putting on and pulling off the tight fitting heads.

I suspect Philips has had to replace a lot of handles and has now made the fit of the heads slightly looser to avoid the problem. Except that in our experience this now means the heads immediately fall off the handle unless you hold them on for a finger while brushing.

The original Sonicare system did not have this issue, but Philips must have wanted to cut costs

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad to see these were Genuine

After reading some reviews of fakes appearing here, I was a bit anxious about ordering, but took the chance and after making some visual checks of the product these do have the smart chip (not that our toothbrush supports it) and the bristles do look of good quality.

The numbers are also shown on the base of the replacement head as you can see from the pictures along with the chip.

After using for a week the brushes have maintained their appearance and quality, so very pleased with the 8 pack we bought.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best toothbrush head
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 November 2020
Colour Name: WhiteSize Name: 8Style Name: SingleVerified Purchase
I've bought other Philips toothbrush heads for my Diamond Sonicare brush, but in my opinion this is the best head for overall cleaning, whitening and to keep plaque away. I'm 50, have never had a filling, don't get plaque build up and have used Philips Sonicare toothbrushes and brush heads for years. It's a worthwhile investment for sure. Don't get lured into the cheaper, oral b rotating brushes. They're not a patch on these! I bought the oral b for my kids in July and will be replacing them this Xmas with the Philips Sonicare range again. Been there, learned that lesson the hard way. Philips Sonicare toothbrushes and heads are the way to go if oral hygiene and long term dental health is a priority for you. Saves you a fortune by not having to visit the dentist too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Replacement For Diamond Clean Head - Buy The 8 Pack For Excellent Value
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 July 2021
Colour Name: WhiteSize Name: 8Style Name: SingleVerified Purchase
Philips don't manufacture the Diamond Clean Head anymore. This Optimal White/W2 is the new replacement brush head. The numbers the same as the old Diamond Clean - HX6068 ( for an 8 pack), HX6062 ( for a 2 pack).
I would recommend only buying from Amazon themselves and not a marketplace seller.
To the eye they look the same as the old Diamond Clean. However, the clean is slightly softer and the bristles seem more flimsy hence 4 stars. If you want replacement Diamond Clean these are the only option. You could of course pick a different brush head in the Philips range as they all fit the standard Sonicare handles. Excellent price on Amazon. Much cheaper buying the 8 pack.

Great value for money compared to other Philips heads. Each brush head comes with a new clear cover that you can put on after each use protecting the brush head from dust/dirt etc

Used for a few months and only found two negatives, first being the back of the brush head is just hard plastic which is different compared to the original and other brush heads I’ve tried. If this touches your teeth whilst brushing it is a very unpleasant feeling hitting off your teeth.

Second being these brush heads are a lot smaller that other official Panasonic brush heads and the head the brush originally comes with I personally prefer a bigger head with more bristles than a small thin one.

But at this price point still a great buy by comparison 4/5
