How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsYou get what you pay for. Excellent apart from the mouse wheel.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 December 2019
I was a little torn at spending this much money on a mouse having only spent about about £25 on my old Tecknet gaming mouse and that survived nearly 15years of abuse. However, Tecknet are now cheaply built as well as cheap as the replacement Tecknet mouse proved. I have gone with the highlu praised G502 hero after reading many reviews and I am so far very impressed. All programmable buttons work great using the windows interface (Unlike Technet) and although the G502 looks like it would bite your hand off if you were to try and touch it, it is surprisingly comfortable and the buttons all seem to be well thought out in their placement.
5 Stars all round other than the mouse wheel where I only give 4 Stars. This is because it does not have a rubber surface like others I have used and seems quite slippery when trying to use it to scroll. Pulling the wheel towards you with your finger seems kind of ok but trying to spin it away from you my finger tends to slip a bit and so it is a bit annoying (Not that I use the scroll wheel that much and it can be set to 'free-wheel' so you can spin it without any resistance).
I toyed with the idea of getting the wireless version but at twice the price and the fact that a wireless mouse actually tends to HIT the wall if you throw it I decided to stick with a teathered / wired one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Well it lasted only 8 months, the left click is rapidly clicking before release....

not happy with this will be going back to corsair mouse I had for 5 years never had a issue, i thought this was suppose to be the best mouse or one of the best, well after looking online seems these Omron switches are not good, and when i left click the input is registered but it keeps clicking until i release and hear the click, which it shouldnt be doing... the right click works as it should you press down and hear the click and it registers on the pc and does.t click again or register a input until you release and hear the click, the left mouse is completely buggered.... very sad.. thankfully amazon 12 month warranty im going to change it to a different brand, dont waste your money..

I had the corsair m65 pro for 4-5 years and only broke when it got very old and it was the side thumb button that broke not the left or right clicks

5.0 out of 5 stars Gaming!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 June 2020

This is a nice sturdy mouse that you can add weight to make it comfortably heavy. I have big wide hands that will cramp up whilst holding most mice, not with this one though. My hand fits round it nicely with all the buttons in close range of my thumb. The dpi on the fly ranges from sluggishly slow to super fast twitch sensitive greatness. I was almost put off by a review that said the scroll wheel is flimsy, it isn't at all. There is a button locks the wheel to per click scrolling to super fast scrolling. Everything on this mouse to its design to its features has a premium feel to it. One last thing, I aren't using a mouse pad and it still glides along a wood surface like its on silk. If you do decide to buy this mouse you won't regret throwing almost 60 notes at it, totally worth it. Logitech does it again!

1.0 out of 5 stars (Updated!) It was time to retire my original g502
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 May 2022
Pattern Name: Gaming MouseStyle Name: G502 HEROVerified Purchase
As the buttons had started to double click due to wear. Grabbed this on a deal and it's *nearly* as good. I'm a very high sensitivity mouse user and the sensor at the same settings feels ever so slightly slower so took a little tuning. The buttons have a much lighter actuation compared to my old G502 and the wheel scrolls for slightly longer in the locked mode - however will just take a little getting used to. Only real disappointment is the lack of a braided cabled and the quality of the feet appear to be a lot lower and have a scratchy feeling to them but they can be swapped.

UPDATE! after using the G502 Hero for nearly a month, I've come to realise this is an inferior mouse to the previous G502 Proteus Spectrum. The Hero developed a weird issue after a few days with the mouse pointer where it would jump in a random direction around 1cm on the display if I was using it to make small movements. I suspect it was down to my mouse surface but the lack of surface tuning for the Hero meant I couldn't get round it. The old G502 does have surface tuning, and never had this issue with random movements. The switches on the Hero are also very easy to trigger compared to the old G502 and I found myself mis-clicking a lot when using the mouse for work purposes. I'm not sure if this is something I imagined, but it also felt like there was some degree of mouse acceleration that you could just not turn off with the Hero.

Overall the experience was as though I had bought a cheap copy of a G502 - and felt a lot like Logitech have made a load of cost cuttings to a previously great mouse.

Going back to my old G502 none of these issues were present. Looks like i'm going to have to whip out the soldering iron and swap my faulty switches on my trusty old G502. Oh well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Awesome...

Fantastic little beast just like it's predecessors.
Feels good in hand, all buttons are right where you need them, robust and clicky.
Superb tracking with 0 acceleration.

The BAD: I can only find one con which has some weight to it for many of us.
The Macro Option is available in On-Board Mode you can create a macro and use it as you wish with one BAD quirk.
If you have a macro like fastclick and want mouse to repeat the macro while key is held down you will be forced to use software version for unknown for us reasons.
I have used Razer Mamba 2012 in the past and it had no problems repeating the macro while using On-Board storage even if you didn't have the software installed, so I don't really know why Logitech went with this as even their own old software supported repeating macros in On-Board Mode.

Logitech, if you ever read this please make macro repeat available with On-Board Chip and please make G502 Wireless HERO, I mean this sensor is eating so much less that it would be so easy for a battery to keep it alive for quite a while.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buggy software messes up DPI
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 September 2021
Pattern Name: Gaming MouseStyle Name: G502 HEROVerified Purchase
I have had this mouse for a few months now.
The first impression was not great, something just did not feel right, but I thought I was just used to my previous gaming mouse.
However, at this point, I can safely same it is not a matter of accustomization.
The mouse itself feels nice under the hand and I am not too bothered by the wheel, which other users criticized.
I never got used to the DPI settings, not just the button location, which I don't like since they are located over the thumb, but that is a matter of preference. I simply cannot find a DPI setting that feels right, despite having (allegedly) matched the settings of my previous mouse.
Again, this could be a subjective matter.

But then there is the software, and this is where I realized the G502 Hero and I are simply incompatible.
To customize the settings you need to open the ghub software.
Unfortunately, the software takes a while to load and the settings are not stored on the mouse. So, when you start the pc, the mouse has random colours and some default DPI, until the ghub loads and the desired settings kick in. sometimes ghub will start but the mouse will not load the settings, which requires manually closing ghub and reopening.
It is only a matter of a minute or less but it is annoying.
Even worse, recently ghub has crashed on me while playing, sending the DPIs to some random setting. Pressing the buttons did not do help. The only solution was to tab out, close ghub, restart it and return to the game.

Perhaps mine was just bad luck, especially given the many positive reviews. Still, I have decided to abandon this mouse, relegating it to the office pc, and get a different one for my gaming.

TOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICE
1.0 out of 5 stars Squidgy unresponsive buttons, inaccurate cursor placement
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 December 2020
Pattern Name: Gaming MouseStyle Name: G502 HEROVerified Purchase
A long-time user of Logitech wireless Master Series mice, recent issues with electronic interference from somewhere nearby and further Bluetooth issues meant that they sometimes work reliably but equally can be erratic. The sole option is to revert to a wired mouse, something rarely used in the past 8-10 years and hence the purchase of the G502.

Although Logitech mice were never previously an issue, there were personal concerns about some of the reviews posted where things quickly broke or failed to work although similar comments are also made about those from other brands. Whether these problems are endemic across the products or user-created from improper or over-enthusiastic use is uncertain.

The mouse is of a good size, neither too small nor too large, and sits well in the hand. While some configuration is possible natively, e.g. DPI setting, much more can be obtained via Logitech's G-Hub software. While delivered with no weights fitted, they are separately packed within the product packaging and are easily fitted in various configurations; initially, all were added but one or two were intended to be later removed or relocated to change its balance.

However, when first used it was noticed that the on-screen cursor seemed never to go anywhere close to where it was needed and changing the DPI setting made no obvious difference other than for the cursor to move in ever-decreasing circles for a similar amount of surface movement. The mouse buttons were squidgy and lacked feedback as if made of marshmallow or memory foam. In summary, it was wholly unsatisfactory and quickly repacked for return. No previous Logitech mouse (and there were several purchased and used over many years) proved to be quite so unsatisfactory.

POSTSCRIPT - a second example was later purchased for a far lower price than was originally paid. While initially appearing very satisfactory it was later realised that the on-screen cursor movement was steadily increasing while the desktop movement remained the same. Accuracy of cursor placement decreased to the point where it became almost impossible to reliably and consistently land it on the intended target whether it was used while emailing, opening an intended album or music track or anything else. Reverting to the MX Master 3 which has periodic conflicts with somebody else's equipment (whether computing or otherwise and led to the decision to choose wired for the first time in many years) showed none of these issues. Changing the DPI setting to a lower level and changing cursor speed also had no or very limited effects. It is now little more than an unusable ornament and was later returned.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bought to replace a Corsair M65 Elite
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 May 2022
Pattern Name: Gaming MouseStyle Name: G502 HEROVerified Purchase
I bought this Logitech G502 after casually browsing for a replacement mouse for my 6 year old Corsair M65. The Corsair still worked just fine but was just very worn and seeing this Logitech on big sale I thought to grab it. My boyfriend has one so I was able to try it out first.

I'd say it was a good choice I made. The mouse is very comfortable and the buttons are great to press without too much or little force.

The scroll wheel is awesome. Solid metal with cogging detatchment - so much better than the Corsair or any other scroll wheel I've ever used; it's a joy to scroll websites with it.

Lots of options software wise, lots of adjustability with the mapping and DPI settings which is great for different games and my style. I was able to match the sensitivity/DPI easily to my Corsair M65 so it feels like I didn't make the change.

A negative - the cable isn't great. It's very thin and it's just rubber with no braiding. I like the braided cables, like on my M65, as it helped keep it untangled, wrapped up great, and of course looks better.

Highly recommend, a good competitor for the M65.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great mouse, some great features but a little misleading.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 June 2021
Pattern Name: Gaming MouseStyle Name: G502 HEROVerified Purchase
Some of what I write below may sound contradictory to the 4 star rating but I mean this to be a complete review of the features with my own opinions. The 4 star rating is objective while my opinions are, of course, subjective.

This mouse is without a doubt a great mouse and would have had a 5 star rating if it was as programable as it appeared in the description.
The two extra buttons alongside the LMB control the DPI settings for the pointer speed.
The front button behind the wheel is a lock/release for the standard wheel click or free-wheel, which is very useful when you want to scroll very quickly to a particular part of a VERY long document!
I've yet to try the left/right wheel tilt switch for use but the action feels a little alien and awkward to use, I guess it is meant to be used as a flick type action with either the LMB finger or the RMB finger.
The back button on the top is programable but as the lock/release button for the wheel sits quite proud, it doesn't have a natural feel to it for practical use.
The left hand side buttons feel natural and are large enough that they feel much more comfortable than my old mouse, and the front DPI shift button is excellent for fine movement when aiming.
I do feel that this idea of customising the weight of the mouse with tiny weights is a waste of time, I always add all possible weight and still feel I could add more before I feel the difference. My old mouse had heavier weights, I guess the idea is to make it move easier in certain directions depending on the way you hold it? I've never felt the benefit personally but I'm sure there are some pro-gamers out there that would disagree.
Overall, I'm happy with the mouse but the inability to program the two buttons alongside the LMB and the un-natural feel of the rear top button makes this only a 4* mouse for me.
