How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsGreat product - others need to read properly
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 November 2019
Not sure why people are complaining about the strength, it clearly says per dose in the description - people taking any supplements should ensure they know what they’re taking and at what dose before buying....especially when it is clearly labelled.

The EPA/DHA dose is higher than anything else I can find in capsule form so I am happy to take 2/3 to get my required dose over a spoonful of liquid.

No fish burps as of yet.

Capsules arrived when expected and are great value.

2.0 out of 5 starsONLY 1000mg!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 February 2019
Read the description carefully, these are 1000mg capsules (EPA 330 / DHA 220) NOT 2000mg as the heading would make you believe. You would need to have 2 to have the 2000mg serving and therefore would only be 60 servings in a bottle.

After contacting customer support they have been in touch and resolved. However, I just received an email asking that I review the product so I only believe it's relevant / fair to mention the above.

Besides this, the product is as expected. There is a bit of a fishy after taste, but is common for most unless they indicate odourless on the packet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value high strength Omega 3.

I use 3 x 2000mg daily as part of my supplement regime.
A few years ago I started with bad shoulders and knees due to years of weightlifting, I was recommended by a coach to start a high dose of omega 3 (8000-10000 mg ED).
Within 3 weeks the shoulders and knees felt 80% better, I've carried on with 6000mg eversince and the joints feel great.
My Wife started with hip pain this year due to arthritis, I started her off on 6000mg ED, again the pain has subsided and she feels great again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Packaging is incredibly misleading
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 April 2020

Packaging is incredibly misleading - makes it clear that there are 120 capsules in pack and in similarly large typeface refers to high strength 2000mg high EPA and high DHA in large letters. But in smaller writing on the rear it states that the high dose is only if you take 2 capsules. The front of the pack should either state the composition for each of the capsules, or refer to 60 doses.

Manufacturer responsed to my comments, as detailed below...

"Our Omega 2000mg is advertised as per serving (2 capsules) and shows 120 capsules as 2 months supply. The EPA & DHA per capsule is higher than most typical Omega 1000mg products, 330mg EPA - 220mg DHA so it is not comparable to most Omega 1000mg products listed on Amazon.

The majority of products in this category are listed per serving, and this is common place in all Amazon supplement categories. For customers to easily compare our product to other products in the category it is important to us that we meet the standard that is set across the category.

This product is fulfilled by Amazon, so it is important that the label matches our the product page. If we were to list the qty as 60 on the front of the label, it would not match the Amazon page.

My apologies if you do not think this is clear enough in the product description and apologies for any frustration our packaging may have caused (...) please be assured that the product is not listed per serving to intentionally mislead people - it is listed honestly will (sic) all the correct information available to the customer when considering their purchase. I feel coned as I thought they were 2000ml take a close look at the front label it says Omega 3 Fish oil 2000mg [and
then in very small writing] per serving. a serving is two a day!! which means 1000mg each.
This sort of labelling should not be aloud What a Con.

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazon, please get a grip on this category
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 March 2022

Many Omega 3 fish oil distributors have resorted to making their product descriptions wholly misleading and ZipVit is one of them.

It seems that people like to buy "strong" products, so distributors use meaningless terms such as "High Strength", "High Potency" and, in ZipVit's case, "Super Strength". These terms are meaningless because they are not defined. Is Super Strength stronger than High Strength? We just don't know. These terms are used to confuse, not to inform.

The active ingredients in Omega 3 products are EPA and DHA. So a higher strength product should have a higher percentage of these essential fatty acids than a lower strength product. In fact, ZipVit's product is 33% EPA and 22% DHA. That is exactly the same as Superself's product and Nutravita's product. It is slightly better than Seven Sea's product which is 30% EPA and 20% DHA. And these brands are better than Amazon's own product, branded as Solimo, which manages 26% EPA and 18% DHA.

But the highest strength I have found so far is the Inessa brand which delivers 40% EPA and 30% DHA. The lowest strength I have found so far is the PlusVIVE brand at 18% EPA and 12% DHA, yet it is still described as High Strength!

Here is a simple idea for these distributors, stop using these misleading and dishonest descriptions and just tell us amount of EPA and DHA you deliver per capsule. Simple.

The next marketing trick is even worse. Instead of telling us clearly the quantity of EPA and DHA per capsule, they tell us the amount of EPA and DHA per "serving size" and a serving size could be 1, 2, 3 or more capsules.

ZipVit's headline is "Omega 3 Fish Oil 2000mg, EPA 660mg DHA 440mg per Daily Serving. 120 Capsules (2 Months Supply). Supports Heart, Brain Function and Eye Health. 2 Capsules Per Serving". I'll wager most people will read this and conclude each capsule contains 2000mg and delivers 660mg EPA and 440mg of DHA. And the proof of that is the number of people who write reviews and bitterly complain they were deceived. Check the other reviews here!

If you read a bit further, you will see the headline says, "120 Capsules (2 months Supply)". If you read that far and DO THE MATH, you will realise you are being advised to take two capsules per day. But does that mean you will get 2 x 2000mg per day? Or is a single capsule 1000mg so you only get 2000mg per day? Nowhere does ZipVit state the product delivers 1000mg per capsule. Nowhere.

If you get this far and are confused, you might decide to look at the photos to see if the labelling on the bottle clarifies matters. It seems to. The last image says, "Super Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil 2000mg". OK, that's clear then, nothing here about serving size. It must be 2000mg per capsule. Except it is not.

If you look at the other product images, you see five images of the front of the bottle but they are all oriented so you can read "Super Strength Omega 3 Fish Oil 2000mg" but it is impossible to read the words "(per serving)" that follow. Unfortunate accident or intentionally misleading?

Of course, ZipVit cannot actually lie--that is illegal. But misleading the hell out of us is not. And ZipVit pulls every trick in the book to mislead us. ZipVit is not the only company that uses this dishonest approach--several of them pull the same stunt.

Earlier, I mentioned the Inessa brand which is the highest strength Omega fish oil I have found on Amazon. Their headline is refreshingly clear and simple, "Omega 3 Fish Oil 1200mg (480mg EPA/360mg DHA per Capsule)". Perfect. Why can't ZipVit adopt the same unambiguous approach? Why can't you ZipVit?

Finally, Amazon has a responsibility here as the company that is selling these products. Amazon should refuse to stock products that employ misleading product descriptions. If they did that, I have a hunch companies like ZipVit would suddenly see the error of their ways. How about it Amazon?

Really disappointed!
The strength is only 2000mg if you take two!
Therefore 120 capsules actually are only 60 days!
This is not mentioned on the bottle picture. It makes this dosage very expensive complained with others. I would like to return these as I feel I have been misguided!

Please be aware that this product is clearly misrepresenting the dosage of each capsulate. These are advertised as super strength 2000mg fish oil. They are not. I will be taking legal action under Misrepresentation Act 1967.
On the label it says 2000 mg per serving but each serving is defined as two capsules on the label. If this is how you deceive through marketing, god knows what's inside these capsules.

I cannot understand the negative reviews about 2 tabs to obtain 2000mg Omega 3. Anyone who read the product information will have seen it clearly stated, per serving, a serving being 2 capsules. Given it is better to take Omega 3 in a divided dose it makes absolute sense that the capsules are 1000mg. I think the fault, if anywhere, lies with those who do not read the product details fully. I've not started taking them yet, they are much stronger than my usual brand (out of stock) and cheaper too, I may be converted!
