Does the Job - Tick Removed!

Worked as advertised. A friend suggested I buy a kit a few weeks back as we live in the Highlands of Scotland where there’s lots of ticks about. I found one today in my 5 year olds back (you can see it in the picture). Luckily I think she’d squashed it before it had time to feed.

I tried the ‘V’ shaped lifter first, but it was too small. The tweezers were perfect for the job though... out in no time. This kit comes with an identification aid, which is useful.

One piece of advice I’d give on top of the kit is to keep the tick for a few months on a piece of tape or similar - (or take a good photo)... as if the area starts to show signs of Lymes Disease you can give the photo to your Dr for effective treatment.

Used to remove 5 nymph ticks from my mother after a days fishing on a local river. Worked really well. Just remember DO NOT put anything on a tick to smother it as it may cause the tick to regurgitate it’s stomach into your blood stream increasing risk of infection. Just grasp it firmly with tweezers or the larger tick removal prong and pull it out. Disinfect area after and keep an eye out on the bite zone for a week after. If you start to get a big red bullseye mark report it to your doctor as ticks can carry lymes disease. The ticks you pull out put in a sealable bag and stick in freezer. Your doctor may ask you for them to test them for disease however not all medical establishments seem to be clued up on lymes disease.

A really well made sturdy kit. The tick ID card was also super useful. These tools have allowed me to finally remove a tick, Alive, off my dog after many failed attempts in the past using other tick removal products. Super impressed, and much more assured that I won’t damage the tick when trying to remove it from my dogs skin. You can see from the photo that the tick had all legs and mouthparts after being removed. 5 stars! Highly recommend!

I like the fact that this product includes all necessary items needed to remove ticks and produced in stainless steel, contained altogether in a leather case.

As yet, I have not needed to use any of the set, but glad to know that they are at hand if and when required.

Cannot comment on their ease of use but consider them to be good value for money.

I found the tools very handy for painlessly removing ticks from my cat. Although we do treat her, the spot on treatments are only effective for two weeks and cannot be reapplied until at least four weeks have passed since the last treatment. So for the remaining two weeks, we have to be hyper vigilant. It’s a bit of a pain and I hate doing it, but this tick removal kit makes it a doddle, whatever size/stage the tick is at - there is a tweezer type tool for the very tiny ones, and a larger ‘V’ shaped implement for any larger engorged ticks that I might have missed on my nightly inspections. She actually enjoys the whole grooming process now! Highly recommend.

Comes with a card on how to use them and a nifty little case to keep them all together, I can't inform on the performance of them due to the fact that I was lucky enough not to have to use them.

However, they do still take up some prime real estate in my first aid kit just in case I ever need them.
