Feels very sturdy but is quite a stiff cable

I use this cable to charge my wireless mouse, sometimes though I have to charge while I'm using it. It's probably not the most ideal cable for that scenario as it's quite a stiff cable. That however could be seen as a good thing depending on your application. It's got a bit of heft to it so feels good quality. If you're looking for a phone charger or perhaps something you leave plugged in this would be perfect. For a mouse though just note its stiffness.

I'd recommend it for applications other than mouse charging.

i bought 3 AmazonBasics usb cables over different times.

first became loose after 18 months and now only works if held down.

2nd is still going strong, and was shortest in length.

3rd became loose and stopped working unless held down after 2months.

according to amazon 2 years is an acceptable lifespan for this product so they told me to talk to the manufacturer.

here's a clue, the manufacturer of AmazonBasics cable is surprise surprise amazon themselves.

so i get back to them. they apologise, agree to refund. 5 minutes later they say ignore the previous email, 2 years is an acceptable lifespan for a usb cable and refuse.

so my advice don't buy AmazonBasics products. amazon won't stand by them.

p.s. i offered to return the original cable to amazon, so their wouldn't be any doubt over the issue throughout the entire conversation.

Don't be deceived by the misleading photos

Note: this is NOT what it's advertised as. I searched for "USB C to USB A" and this came up - if you click on the A-to-C option that's what it is - but it claims "none in this color" and tells you to select a different color.

When you select a differnet color it CHANGES THE PRODUCT to a competely differnet, incompatible, useless Type-B connector, with no warning. The photos are identical: they have carefully taken each photo so that you cannot see the connector (every photo except one is side-on, and the only one that shows a little of the connector shape is so zoomed out and low res it's very hard to see).

Don't buy. Find something that's coherently and accurately listed, from a differnet vendor.

I needed a Micro B to USB 2 cable to transfer data from a recording device to my computer. My home is full of cable spaghetti, and I have lots of Micro B to USB cables with these plugs at the ends that I have accumulated over the years, but as is often pointed out, some are just charging cables and will not transmit data. I tried every likely cable in the house, and none of them worked. It was with some trepidation I ordered this cable, since I didn't want to end up with yet another useless charging cable. Luckily, it works perfectly.

I know what you all think when you see "AmazonBasics". Cheap, simple, boring, low-quality, temporary solutions.

Sometimes, that might be right, but definitely not this time! These cables are very nicely designed. The braiding is high quality nylon and doesn't feel like it will come off any time soon. The micro USB end of the cable gets securely held in my device with the two prongs on the bottom of the connector, unlike some cables which either don't have them, or they are very low quality.

These cables are nice and long, meaning I can have them plugged in while using my phone in bed or at my desk. It's also helpful when I have my power bank in my bag and want to charge my phone at the same time.

These cables seem to hold up against everything I throw at them, including QC3.0 or Quick Charge 3.0 which some cheaper cables don't support.

I would genuinely recommend these to anyone looking for a cheap set of cables which are great quality.

Theres a noticeable weight & stiffness to this cable that makes me feel it will be very durable. That obviously means it doesn't coil up quite as tightly as a plastic version, but I bought this to be a bit of a more durable option. The "basics" range is far from being basic - this is a good cable. I love the red colour. I will have it at work where there is hot-desking, so it will remind me to take it with me. Theres a small velcro type tag to keep it coiled or shorten it.

Packaging was great. Just a small cardboard box rather than some pointless plastic vault that is impossible to open. I must applaud Amazon for their eco packaging

I use as cable for the steam controller, so that I can play without having to worry about battery charge.

It performs perfectly.

The plug fits solidly into the socket and does not wiggle or fail to fit in any way.

The wire feels solid and well built, I expect it will last.

I -will- come back and edit if it fails or break. If I have not, it means the product is still going well.

Used the cable for a few months now on a daily basis. Because I was impressed with the quality of the "Basic" 6 Feet (1.8 m) long product bought the 10 Feet (3 m) version. Because it is so long it allows us to plug into any of our fixed USB ports and use whatever gadget we want where we want. Not noticed any difference in charging capability while using the longer cable.

Used for phones, tablets, mp3 players and GoPro battery chargers without issue.

I could have used a black cable - bit there was already a lot of black on the lectern, and wanted to see if there was a charging cable that wouldn't look ridiculously out of place - and this one manages that nicely I think. The build quality seems reasonable, and it's charging a wireless microphone transmitter from a powerbank - and it's working as I'd hoped. I can't ask for more.

Bought this for my Amazon Fire Tablet.. Fit very tight for maybe the first 3 or 4 days... Now loose and falls out if you even slightly move it.. Needless to say only had this just over a week and having to hold it in place to charge is pathetic... Worst £6.99 ever spent.. Once I find a decent one this will be binned. Don't bother.
