How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsIt didnt take me long to get used to using these interdental brushes as a part of my teeth cleanibg routine
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 March 2016
😆My dentists stressed out how important interdental brushing is. It removes up to 40 % more than brushing alone. I mentioned that I floss which he said was fine. However the flossing only removes bits of food but not plaque for that the interdental brush is necessary.

😆The brush is made of a thin twisted wire with little plastic bristles attached to it and a handle with could be extended with a another plastic handle. I find using the brush with the handle easier but a little less precise. The wire part of the brush makes it easy to slightly bend the brush to get the right angle. Some of my teeth are crowded and it feels like I'm hitting the gum with this brush but when I angle it I manage to avoid it.

😆The brushes come in different sizes and I find 0.4 mm very versatile and it fits in most my gaps between my teeth. Although the dentist recommends using the biggest size for each gap.

😆The brush normally lasts me about a week. I use it before going to bed. Insert it in a gap then angle it close to one side of the tooth and really close to the gums and move it back and forth twice then I do the other side of the gap and clean the other tooth the same way.

😆To be honest I don't like doing it. It's fiddly and time consuming but I've just had 4 extractions so I'm determined to preserve what I have left of my teeth. Since I've been using the interdental brush my gums are bleeding a lot less.

😆The dentist also recommended a single tooth toothbrush. It's for cleaning each tooth individually. He also said that the electric toothbrush that works on a sonic principle is the best.

2.0 out of 5 starsThere are better products in Lidl
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 March 2021
My hygienist recommended these to me at my last visit.
They do work but as the market leader, I expected better.
1. The handles are cheap and not very comfortable to use
2. The brush head bends too easily - once that happens, it can’t be reused effectively
3. You only get one sleeve for 6 items. So if there are two of you using these, one person doesn’t have a sleeve to protect it.

The solution to all three of these problems is to go to Lidl and buy their equivalent item.
They come in three or four of the most common sizes at Lidl so no problem on range for me.

Lidl has fixed all of the above issues and are £1 cheaper per pack (£2 for six).
Much more comfortable handles too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter being small

It's difficult to get this size in most places. Dentist told me to start with the biggest you can fit through the gaps and then go a little bigger. This keeps my teeth from scaling up combined with good brushing. Now no more awful scraping with that pointed torture tool by the dentist. Sorry too much information.
Great item, works well.

TePe brushes are my saviour. I suffer with extreme peri-implantitis around my dental implants & these really help to keep it under control. No issues with my delivery from Amazon, very convenient with prime delivery next day when I’m running low. Recommend. Do make sure to have the right size as this really does make a difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendously effective
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 January 2015

When I was growing up no NHS dentist ever mentioned flossing ... it was a mystic art that occasionally featured in American films. Fast forward to the late 1980s and I was finally battling with floss. This wasn't a pleasure as my teeth are crammed together tightly and even budget (thin) floss had to be heaved between them, with occasionally disastrous consequences as it sprung through and hit the gums.

Moving on to the 1990s and enter a brilliant dentist in Beaconsfield who suggested Tepe brushes. After some trial and error I worked my way down the Tepe line until I found the pink ones - the only ones that would fit between all my teeth comfortably. I have stayed with Tepe ever since. I tried a supermarket's own 'pink' ones, but they were coarser, a little larger, and they hurt.

The difference Tepe interdental brushing has made has been considerable. Coupled with Philips ultrasonic and Curaprox ultra-soft brushes, plus a light touch, my receding gums are under control and it looks as though my teeth and gums will see me out. (I also use the vastly expensive Colgate floss which is the best I have ever used and slips in-between even the tightest teeth.) 5 Stars without a doubt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable & Easy to Use.

I have for several years now on the advice of my Dental Hygienist, been using Red No.2 (0.5mm).
Then a few months ago, just after we were allowed back to our dentists, she advised the I change to the Yellow ones No.4 (0.7mm), I them to be too thick & was afraid they were going to pull my teeth out or break off & be stuck in my mouth.
Hence, I decided to try the Blue ones No.3 (0.6mm), as this is inbetween both the Red & Yellow.
I will update after several times using.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed with these
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 December 2021

Really not good. These feel flimsy and bend way too easily. When you think you have a good angle for cleaning at the back, it’ll bend again, making it near impossible to clean properly. I purchased these to try to make the cleaning process easier and these are not the brush for that unfortunately. I got the smallest size as my teeth are very close together at the front and sides, and despite this, it doesn’t fit through gaps and I don’t want to use force, for fear of hurting gums or breaking the brush (or both). Wouldn’t recommend these at all.

These are fantastic! Over the past 18 months I've had a lot of surgery with 5 lots bone grafting in my jaw with implants placed and veneers at the front. These dental brushes are just perfect for my veneers and implants and get the smallest bits out (size 0). They really are the best thing to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than floss
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 August 2021
Style Name: 0.4 mmVerified Purchase
I bought these on the advice of my dentist. My teeth are very close together so I find the pink brushes just right to get into the spaces. Since using these instead of floss my gums have stopped bleeding and that nasty floss smell has stopped. I was hesitant to try as I was used to using floss harps but these are much easier and better. My dentist will approve too.
