Held to Ransom by HP - these cartridges are the ones you seek

You buy a wonderful 3-1 printer, after two years of use HP install a piece of software stopping you from recycling cartridges or purchasing recycled cartridges. Even with your best intentions, you try to follow HP's instructions and for a while you can buy recycled cartridges. HP is an angry beast, a bit like the Flaming Eye for Lord of the Rings - so this year it stops me, stops me hard from using recycled, environmentally friendly cartridges. I have to buy their cartridges or the printer doesn't work. Unfortunately, I have to buy the expensive alternatives because HP wants to make some more and not save the environment. Yes they work, yes they are nice but I feel forced into buying them. Last time I buy a HP Printer.

Absolutely shocked when I put these cartridges into the printer they could not read these! It came up with an error and said unrecognisable cartridges. When you take a closer look at the outer plastic logos etc they are slightly different from my other originals.

Amazon have apologised and refunded thank goodness, sad to say this happened just when I was desperate for some printouts so this has ended up being a lot of hassle for me. Hey ho...

Normally I refill my ink cartridges down at the local ink refilling place, but I thought I'd give the genuine article a go because it's a new printer. Boy am I disappointed. I have managed to print less than 50 pages of plain text and the black ink cartridge is already running low, and printing with lines. Not a happy customer. Not worth £20, and certainly not something I would purchase again or recommend to anyone.

Very easy to install and the print quality is good. I'm not sure why people are saying these aren't the official ones - the one I've bought definitely is. I've listed the full list of compatible printers at the end of the review, use Control+F to find if your printer is on the list but always make sure you check the official website for a more up-to-date list.

I print out maybe 40 pages at a time when I use my printer and this is still half full after a month or so! Pleasantly surprised. Would recommend.

When I bought these two cartridges I knew that the printer only needed the tricolour one as I had only changed the black one sone 7 days previously. The Ink level monitor confirmed this before I installed the new tricolour. After I'd installed the tricolour I still got the message that there was an Ink Cartridge Problem and that the tricolour needed changing! I went on line and tried all sorts of solutions to no avail. However when I swapped the nearly full black cartridge for the new one - the message disappeared and the printer worked. So problem solved, except that I've had to scrap a nearly new black cartridge, so it's not really worth buying these if this happens every time.

The colour cartridge output of quality was very poor. Not fit for purpose. I didn't get any printing out of it as the 1st page document was so streaky and awful I have to give up. It the stated that the colour cartridge ink was low. This was despite doing all the printer maintenance and alignment prior to printing. The black cartridge only lasted a week with very minimal low printing of small documents. I do not print everyday so levels are not high. Not a student either so use printing for occasional returns items notes or occasional official documents such as applications. I do not recommend this product. Waste of money.

Printer ink is incredibly overpriced and has been for years. You can buy a new budget printer for just a few pounds more.

I have an HP printer and on occasions have bought own brand ink by various high street retailers that is cheaper and is designed to work with my printer model.

Sometimes this ink has not been recognised by my printer and so now I usually purchase the official ink by HP knowing it will install as it should. Nothing else to add as the ink is good ink and does the job albeit expensively.

This item comes in both combinations of black cartridge and coloured cartridge. Black is best used to print out simple text as in letters whilst coloured are suitable for pictures and photographs when using photographic paper. I used this fir my HP printer and scanner machine as it is compatible with most of them as marked on the side of the packaging. I inserted this in my printer and it accepts it and prints out good quality documents without any flaws. You can get this product at a reduced price occasionally, so it is best to keep a good lookout and purchase it when the price is lower but the terms of value for money on Amazon is more or less the same compared to those on the high street, if you include the delivery charges. They don't charge delivery if all items brought costs £20 or more. Apart from this, item has been a good buy for me and I am happy to purchase this ink cartridges from Amazon any time.

I have used HP ink 301 for many years now. Tri colour & Black. Purchased from different outlets that offer a good affordable price. It can vary in price from different suppliers. It has always been excellent ink. However this time from Veracity online. The print colour is very faded. Specially the red. It is suppose to be HP Genuine ink. I have only just changed the ink over today. It has never faded before. Had this not happened I would be giving 5 star rating 100%

These cartridges however are faulty and the printer is telling me so. Have had 35 days now and only installedbyesterday so can’t initiate return. The number provided for HP is a nightmare. Not good HP - you supplied the faulty cartridges - Amazon is your outlet store, work with them to resolve. You wouldn’t get this problem with a physical store like PC world
