Better than the salon

I absolutely hate having my gel varnish removed at the salon, and especially hate having to pay £10 a time for the scratchy privilege so thought I’d buy this and give it a go myself. I drench some cotton wool with the solution and wrap it onto my fingers with tinfoil. After a few minutes the gel varnish is soft and starting to peel away. Works a charm. Definitely recommend.

It doesn't remove gel nail polish. I wrapped my nails in lint-free wipes soaked with the remover for over 15mins and there was no change. The polish looked exactly as glossy as it did the day I put it on.
Considering how many positive reviews this product has, I would assume either the formula has changed, or this product is riding off the reviews of a previous, more effective product.
Either way, I will be returning it for a full refund.

Copious quantity of 300 ml acetone. My wife barely wears nail polish, as she believes she is in the possession of natural beauty.. My 9-year old daughter much more so, and she frequently turns her much younger brother into a hip metrosexual as well. So that’s where this acetone already proved it’s worth. Apparently its high quality, pure acetone capable of removing many other types of nail decorations than simple nail polish.

There is quite an intriguing foil-based instruction with pictures on the listing page, that you should take into account when buying this. As it’s pure the acetone can damage the skin surrounding the nail, so with my children I had to take extra care and use a cotton tip bud to get their nails back to their natural state again. Also make sure to do this on top of a table cover/mat as spilling this acetone will ruin glossy table tops or floors.

But the real reason I bought this fairly large bottle of acetone is stain cleaning and print removal. I’ve successfully used acetone in the past to remove printed logo’s from all kinds of plastic materials. And even better, managed to brighten up yellowed toy parts like Legos or Playmobil. If you do this you have to be even more careful as the acetone melts away the top layer of the plastic you are cleaning. So it can result in a rough surface and permanent damage - apply a small drop carefully with a cotton tipped bud leave it for half a minute and then repeat. Also be aware that while it cleans and brightens the plastic it might make the plastic more sensitive to discolouration over time as the top layer is removed.
The main purpose for the purchase of this bottle however was to restore the kitchen in our vacation home abroad. It has a high quality top-branded German kitchen, that is however 30 years old. This is barely noticeable apart from yellowed plastic strips on top and the bottom of each cupboard door. So this is where I have put the acetone to work. Again while taking great care. And the result is amazing. This postponed a kitchen upgrade investment by 5 years.

very good- worked well. had enough of the acrylic powder and purple gel nail varnish on my long natural nails and wanted to do them at home as they kept catching. put boiling water in a bowl and then another bowl with small amount of this in over the top and soaked them for 5 mins- filed- soaked- filed and it all came off as i hoped. took about an hour but was worth it and cheaper than nail shop. added some nail hardener on top. did not irritate my skin either and im really sensitive.

I ordered this after having gels for the first time in my life, I individually soaked cotton rounds in the acetone, placed each one on a fingernail and then wrapped foil around the nails. I left them on for around 20-25 minutes and once I removed the cotton round/foil, I was able to to scrape the remainder with the edge of my nail file and then buffed off any leftover gel. Worked super well and didn’t leave my nails or the fingertips dried or irritated. Takes some time and patience but easy enough to do whilst watching tv one evening :)

Also used it to remove my acrylic nails, after I put the acetone in hot water and soaked my acrylics they scraped off alright. Would recommend as a cheaper option even though the process is a bit longer than the salon.

My daughter got married last weekend. I had the dress/shoes/bag/ hair/ makeup all covered as a proud mother of the bride but decided to go the whole hog with acrylic nails. What a mistake! How do these young girls manage to do anything! I stood at the checkout the next day for twenty minutes trying to pick up my change! I bought this to remove gel polish - I filed off the top shiny layer and followed the instructions on the bottle, it worked I can't complain about that it just took a while. I managed to watch two movies through the soaking, filing, and buffing process. I would recommend attempting this properly by using foil or ways of containing it to one area as it can be harsh on your skin.

Melted acrylic nails quickly but...

I had acrylics on my nails for weeks and finally wanted to remove them. I sat for hours using normal nail varnish remover which had acetone in but literally took hours, so I gave up and ordered 100% acetone and it worked quickly and really well.

It initially gave a strong smell but oddly after soaking the smell kind of went and wasn't really strong or left on my fingers.
It removed they acrylics really well and didn't damage my nails... however I found that it did also damage the skin around my fingers and my skin was peeling a week after. It was probably the foil method that did it, plus maybe the sun... it didn't look very nice, and luckily didn't hurt. So I peeled off the skin (yuck!), applied some nail oil and lots of hand cream and my fingers are back to normal
