Preface to say, this 4 star rating is only because I have a massive head, like literally. Not fat or anything, I just cannot find a hat that fits me. I'm absolutely sure this will not affect you, unless you knowingly have a head that does not fit any hat you've ever tried.

The issue for this product arose that i'd feel my head being squished by the headset, which led to initial discomfort. I'd often swap back to just using my speakers because my head was aching from wearing it for so long. However, as continued use got on, either it turned my head into an meat accordion to make itself fit, or i just stretched it out with my immensely obtuse cranium use. Either way, the discomfort went away after about a week or two.

Sound quality is absolutely stellar. I've almost overdosed on heavy bass at least 5 times since I got it.

Outgoing verbal quality is also amazing, so my friends have said- although, there was a brief period where my outgoing audio was not good. I figure it was just a loose connection, so i took apart and reconnected everything and i've not had a single issue since- (In retrospect, my friends discovered it's entirely possible audio was going through my webcam mic instead).

I ordered this headset about two months ago, and the quality that it has so far bestowed me with is probably the best i've ever experienced, then again, i've never shelled out this much for a headset/mic in the past, so it was to be expected.

Unsure? thinking of checking many a forum to find the right answer? Just buy this. I've extensively asked many different people/communities what they think the best for the money is, and they're all pointing to this. It's probably definitely worth the money.

1.0 out of 5 starsVery Poor Surround Sound
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 May 2019
Trying to find a solid gaming headset is so difficult. My past, relatively recent headphones, include (yes there have been others):

Sennheiser PC 373D 7.1 Surround Sound
Logitech G633
Razor Kraken 7.1 Chroma V2

The best of those by far was the Razor Kraken. It has the best simulator surround sound but it is far from perfect and the wire on it nearly drove me insane (to say it gets twisted is a gross understatement), It also has the best volume. It's now broken so I bought this HyperX Cloud II headset. I did so based on the reviews here and on some very popular tech channels on youtube, but I'm very disappointed.

The problem with headset reviews is you do not know if the person reviewing (unless they specifically say so) are on their first gaming headset or they're buying a better quality one from their existing one. Put simply you don't know what experience the reviewer has with gaming headsets - this means reviews are relative.

On the plus side the HyperX Cloud II was very comfortable to wear. It's not heavy or bulky. I liked that it has both a 3.5m connector and a USB connector (required for 7.1 surround sound) so you can use it in different ways on your PC and you can use it with your MP3/4 player, phone, stereo, console etc. The problem is I only purchased this for gaming and I did so for the 7.1 simulated surround sound and that's where the problems start.

I loaded up Rainbow Six Siege and I'm in the basement on the plane. I hear the sound of the door breaking behind me so I swing around but there isn't anyone there, I swing back and they're actually breaking through the door in front of me. Immediately after that episode I hear a sound in front of me so I keep looking forward but nothing there so I look behind just in time to see an enemy there. Basically the 7.1 simulated surround sound is terrible. On another occasion I could hear someone running but I couldn't pinpoint their location at all, I had no idea where this noise was coming from, worse still the noise was the same volume throughout, it didn't get louder as they moved towards me or lower as they moved away. Eventually the person popped out in front of me and I only knew they were there because I happened to be looking that way at the time not because the sound indicated that. Just very poor simulated surround sound. If you're having this problem too then I suggest downloading Dolby Atmos and trying it with that.

Another issue I have is the volume. On my Razor Kraken I could only put the volume up to around 60 as it was just too loud beyond that for me. On these I'm at 100 (full) and it still isn't loud enough. I can manage with it but I would really prefer more volume. Still it's better than the Sennheiser PC 373D 7.1 which was truly dreadful on volume.

Then we get to sound quality. These are very poor. There is very little bass, the sound is very tinny. The problem here is that you can't adjust the sound for the headset as it's plug and play, there aren't any drivers or software for it so you're stuck with the sound settings in Windows. Given this headset has its own built in sound board I would have expected supporting software for sound adjustment, but no.

As I said reviews are relative and based on my experience these are very poor by comparison. My search for a quality 7.1 surround sound headset goes on. I may now have to try the ASUS Centurion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fab headset - Works A1 for hearing aid wearers!!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 September 2017
Style Name: WiredPattern Name: singleVerified Purchase
This is the 3rd headset I've tried...3rd time lucky!!
1st was Plantronics Rig Flex, 2nd was Logitech G430 - nothing wrong with either but I have a small girly head and 1 other specific problem, I have a behind ear hearing aid. Now trying to find a comfortable solution to gaming that doesn't suffer feedback has been a trial and a half!

First mention is for the quality packaging, these bad boys arrive in a lovely box with plenty of secure foam packing and a carry bag. Oo la la!

The HyperX Clouds are quite literally as light as a cloud. These headphones are plenty big enough for guy heads but also small and light enough for girl heads, they don't swamp you. The wide flat padded headband doesn't make your head go numb when wearing them (Yes I have mine on for 8 -10 hours a day! and it's a big problem if they hurt) Now, I use the velour covered ear cups and they just sit happy as a bunny on my ears without causing my hearing aid to whine with feedback - RESULT finally!!! Apparently the Pleather covered cups cut out more background noise but as I can't use them I can't comment.
The sound quality is fab, they're simply a USB plug n play. The dongle gives you control over sound and mic volumes and when to activate the 7.1 surround for game play. The mic is detachable, so you can use just the stereo headphones plugged into your phone or MP3 player if you want or if you live stream with a static mic and don't want to use the boom mic.
The construction is plenty sturdy enough. My reply to those who say they break easily is take more care with your stuff! No rage quitting and throwing them down in disgust might go a long way ;-p
I don't think I'll ever need a different brand now I've found these :-D

5.0 out of 5 stars HyperX Cloud II + Mixamp = Amazing quality - best for console users
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 December 2017
Style Name: WiredPattern Name: singleVerified Purchase
Pair this with a mixamp (Astro or Turtle Beach T.A.C) and you have a better headset than the more expensive headsets including the likes of the Astro a40 and a50. Turtle Beach Elite 800, Sony Wireless 2.0, Sony Platinum.

On there own they are mighty fine for consoles and PC. But are so much better when paired with a mixamp. You can get a second hand mixamp from the likes of CEX for £32 (Astro Pro mixamp 2013). The USB 7.1 processor that comes with the HyperX does not fully work with the PS4 or Xbox One. You can plug it in and get audio and mic working. But the 7.1 SS button or the volume buttons works. So again I 100% recommend pairing a mixamp with this for console users.

For PC users it's just plug and play and the 7.1 control works right away. Such a good headset.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality Headset - Excellent 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 September 2018
Style Name: WiredPattern Name: singleVerified Purchase
I have had this headset for about one and a half years now and I LOVE IT! I have had absolutely no problems with it is certianly one of the best gaming headsets you can buy in the: £50 < headset < £100 price bracket, I think that it was a great purchase.

SOUND QUALITY:

The sound quality from these headphones is great. I love listening to music on them and using them in games. This headset excels in games like CS:GO where recognising the location of other nearby players due to their footsteps is vital. This is thanks to the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. This definitely gives you a competitive advantage over other players. It has a USB Audio Sound Card which you plugs into your computer, you then plug the auxillery wire into the mini controller which enables the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. Therefore, this headset is best suited to the computer. When using on a smartphone or a device that is not compatible with the soundcard, although you still get high quality stereo audio, it is not quite as good to the surround soud. In summary, the audio is fantastic and highly recommended for gamers.

MICROPHONE:

When talking to friends on Discord or Skype, they never have a problem understanding me, it has good clarity. When testing it before this review on a voice recorder, although the microphone volume was set high on the control box, it was not that loud to be honest, you need to speak at a reasonable volume as it will not pick up muttering or quiet talking that well. It is still a perfectly adaquete microphone but there are probably better microphone alternatives out there if this is a major deciding factor. For me, the microphone is plenty good enough

QUALITY \ BUILD:

After receiving this product, I found that it came in a nice red box with 'HyperX' printed on the front. A mesh bag is also provided, it is easy to say that I had the best unboxing experience with this product that I have ever had. On to the headphones themselves, the headset has a comfortable memory foam headband and has two different types of ear cups: leather cups and foam cups. Although I prefer the leather cups as they feel premium and very comfortable, my head gets quite warm in them sometimes during intense gaming :).

The headset size is adjustable to fit all sizes of heads by pulling down the ear cups from the headband.

Finally, the microphone is detatchable which is a nice touch, especially if I am only using them to listen to music although the cap that you can cover the auxillery jack with is very easy to lose.

PRICE \ PERFORMANCE:

I think this is a great investment if you want to ramp up your gaming experience and listen to high quality audio. They are made by a reputable brand and I have absolutely no fault.

I hope my review plays a factor in wether you buy this product, or not, or was at least helpful to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars PS4 users read this first!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 October 2018
Style Name: WiredPattern Name: singleVerified Purchase
I did so much research on these and I have to say I am happy with the purchase.

The headset feels great although the clamping force is a little tight after prolonged wear. The leather pads feel great and come with a velour pair incase you want to change them.

The USB soundcard has all your volume, mic and mute controls, along with a neat 7.1 surround sound button that makes a world of difference.

The detachable microphone is clean and clear, with a little cap so the input isn't left exposed all the time.

The item also comes with a neat carry/travel pouch but this won't be of use to me, all of this put together in a well presented bright red box.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PS4 USERS: If you're planning on using this with the PS4, the soundcard controls won't work unless you connect the headset via USB into your computer and install the latest update (0010) from HyperX's website. Upon doing so you'll realise the currently installed update on your headset is 0030, ignore this and proceed with 0010. This will ensure your headset works properly with your PS4 console.

If you're into great sound then I recommend the Cloud Alpha's instead, as these offer superior sound and as made aware to me by HyperX themselves, they're also compatible with the soundcard from the Cloud II's. However a USB soundcard isn't included with the Cloud Alpha's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Curseless quality build. Excellent sound. Great all around headset !
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 February 2019
Style Name: WiredPattern Name: singleVerified Purchase
The HyperX Cloud II is one of the most well-rounded gaming headsets on the market, and it is easily the best of its price range: Not because it is cheap / affordable but because it is just that good.
It is probably the best gaming headset that you can buy for less than £100 (in my case: £71).

• Excellent Sound Quality: the sound is clear and smooth both in games and when listening to music.
• The faux leather ear cups with a closed design allow you to completely focus on your game.
• The noise cancelling microphone does a great job at muffling unwanted noises around you.
• The build quality is solid. The earcups are very large, and the metal headband adjusts itself even on the larger heads out there.

• What's in the box ?
1x HyperX Cloud II Red Gaming Headset
1x Extra set of Velour Ear cushions (so listeners can choose between cloth or faux leather)
1x Detachable Microphone
1x USB Sound Card / Audio Control Box w/ volume controls and 7.1 audio button (amplifies audio and voice for an optimal Hi-Fi gaming experience)
1x Airplane adapter w/ 3.5mm audio jacks and input converter jack
1x Mesh bag to carry all of these things in.

Pros:
+ The sound is smooth and has excellent clarity.
+ The Closed-Cup design helps with Noise Cancellation- thoroughly close you off from the outside world, so you can immerse yourself in your game without bothering those around you with your explosions and music.
+ The Noise-Canceling microphone is good at eliminating background noises while playing games.
+ They offer a great experience both in games and while listening to music.
+ Thanks to the detachable microphone, the headset can also be used as regular headphones in public.
+ Comfortable to wear.
+ They are sold at a very good price.

Cons:
- Cable could have been detachable.

If you need a good pair of gaming headphones with a good noise-canceling microphone, but you don't want to spend piles of money on it, then by all means, buy yourself a HyperX Cloud II.
You will not regret your choice !

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome headset

I've had this for over 1.5 years and let me just say, it's such a fantastic headset in comparison to my previous Kraken 7.1 surround sound which was so tight it made my head hurt after a couple of hours.

First of all, it's very comfy - i've stuck with the original leather cushions but it's nice that you can get the choice to swap them out when they wear out.

Does a great job at cancelling noise around me, and haven't had any issues in relation to the microphone or the sound it produces.

The leatherette cushions have also held up well after a year and a half since I've purchased it, they haven't disintegrated into millions of pieces like my previous Kraken did and is as soft as it was when I first bought the headset.

Great headset. I've had loads of issues with headsets (usually caused by my running over them with my chair) but this one is tough. The main feature I like is that the microphone is on a proper gooseneck (meaning it can be adjust/run-over without breaking) and that it is easily removable for times you want to throw it into your bag and transport it.
Sound quality is fantastic. You can use it via a USB connector or you can just slide off the USB connector as use it as a normal 3.5mm mobile phone headset.
I use mine a lot for business phone calls, so the quality of the microphone has been very important to me. The microphone quality on this one is far better than the headsets I have used from Plantronics, Microsoft etc and I am very happy with it.
In fact, after several months of great service from the first one I bought, I just bought a second for my other PC.

Apparently, somebody at HyperX thought the DSP in the unit was so good (its trash) that ordinary people who use headphones for well, I don't know, gaming, music, movies, might like (sic absolutely require) the need to tweak the sound, but apparently not. There is no equaliser, no bass boost, nothing, other than the factory sound some goon at HyperX feels is good enough for them. I NEED bass and treble in my life, and the sheer stupidity of not even making a small equalizer to tune the sounds to differing ears is just comedy. Sent right back. Compared to their HyperX I, connected to a sound blaster z, the sound is awful, thin, no life, no treble, just flat bland sound. Others mileage may vary.

Just to add, the cable to the earpiece is like a lightning rod for sound, so if you so much as move, there's a transmission of 'noise' into the earpiece via the cable. God help those who wear cashmere jumpers.
