How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

4.0 out of 5 starsNice product. Does the job well & is not too small.......
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 March 2017
This is made from a decent fabric and It's easy to clean underneath where the rubbery surface provides good adhesion to the desk. Once the heel of the hand is on the 'pad' it's not possible for the mouse to move off the mat unless you have 7" long fingers (i.e. not human) so I don't understand people who say the mat is too small - simply it isn't unless you lift your hand off the pad which defeats the object of the 'comfort' element somewhat. I use my laptop screen as a primary with an 'extended' desktop 24" monitor on a stand above it and I have no problems moving the pointer from top to bottom and side to side without moving my mouse off the mat (it's a standard sized mouse as well, not a mini).
The only thing I do find is that keeping my hand 'heel' on the pad is not always the easiest of things to do unless you are constantly conscious of your hand movement. I find that my hand tends to move gravitate forward and my wrist sits on the pad until I notice it's cutting off the blood and my hand is going numb! I imagine that's not a fault of this mat in particular but any pad I use and you might not have the same problem.
Recommended.

1.0 out of 5 starsPretty sure these are toxic!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 March 2019
The smell. Holy moly, the smell from these things. I bought two of them for my office and we put up with them for about 25 minutes before washing scrubbing the underside, and ultimate discarding in the bin.

These mousemats are quite evidently cheaply made and curl up at the edges, but the most striking thing about them is that obnoxious toxic chemical smell that accompanies them. I can only imagine that they've just some kind of active plasticiser or pthalates or something to keep this 'gel' thing squishy because bad smells usually always serve as a warning. I cannot recommend this product at all.

It's genuinely made me feel light headed, if I'm honest. We've had the window open and fans on all afternoon and there's still a unpleasant lingering smell inhabiting the room. I can't even blame one of my colleagues for it because no human has ever physically produced a smell this awful. Not even my uncle Steve, and he stinks.

2.0 out of 5 stars Works well but smells like death chemicals

This product meets its description, but oh too shortly after unwrapping this beauty did I discover its dark hidden secret. This thang smell of big, big nasty. It is a smell I wish not, and cannot describe, for English can only describe so much taint. This mouse mat, though comfortable to use and conveniently sized has perturbed my nostrils and the entire olfactory segment of my brain to such a degree, that if a Russian missile were to land directly in my living room, obliterating me, the mouse mat, and my prized collection of funko-pop figures, I would be a much happier man.

Good day.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worse than useless! :(

The mouse mat doesnt even sit flat, which renders it completely useless. Ive placed it under my printer for two days straight in the hope it might flatten it out, but no joy :( ...it now just sits in the drawer.
DO NOT BUY THIS MOUSE MAT - Spend a little more money and buy one that is stuck to a rigid base!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful fumes from this product

The smell that comes off this product is horrendous. I tried to persevere with it all day. I even washed it. But the fumes were awful and made me feel ill so it has been sealed in a bag and put in the bin. Not happy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Went straight in the bin. AVOID!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 July 2017

This is quite possibly the worst product I have ever purchased from Amazon.

I bought it to replace my old mouse pad and as soon as it was dropped through the letterbox I could tell they were vastly different. Firstly, this one curves up at the sides due to poor construction which makes using it near impossible.

Secondly, if I do attempt to use it, the "comfort gel" wrist rest feels absolutely solid. It left me with pins and needles in my hand after only 30 minutes use and then went directly in the bin.

If I could I would give this a negative rating, not 1 star! Avoid this product at all costs!

2.0 out of 5 stars Uncomfortable, hard and low wrist support
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 April 2021

I bought this mat to replace a similar spec mouse mat with a gel wrist support because it had torn and the gel was leaking.

This mat feels very hard compared with my old one and is about half the height - it is maybe 1cm high - and so no real use as a support. The wrist rest is also covered by a material which is not comfortable to rest your wrist on for any length of time.

It may be that it is ok for occasional use then typing, but anyone using this for games or extended use should avoid it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than more expensive versions!

Really impressed!
I previously had a similar wrist support mouse pad, but the cushion on my old one was made of typical memory foam. This flattened within weeks and was never supportive to begin with! Really impressed that this one was, as advertised, a comfortable firm gel cushion for less money than my original.
So far I've found gaming more comfortable and the non-slip base is like superglue - it doesn't shift at all from regular use or even pushing it, only if you pick it up.
My order was delivered next day, which was an unexpected bonus.
For the price, this is a fab mouse pad and I'm happy I chose this over similar products on Amazon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Avoid if you have had carpal tunnel release
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 May 2022

Firstly, the good news; the smell reported in earlier reviews isn't there. It's pretty much odourless.
But here are the negatives;
(1) the working surface of the pad is too small. I have a high resolution vertical mouse, which occupies slightly less space than a standard mouse mouse, and I still have to lift off to get to the extremes of the screen. If it was a plain rectangle or 30mm bigger in both directions it would probably be ok.
(2) the gel wrist support is very hard and sits right under where I had my carpal tunnel release (5 years ago, so no residual pain). The result is that the wrist support digs into the now unprotected median nerve and causes both finger numbness (remember that?) and pain around the wrist area. This is by no means an ergonomic solution, and I can't believe it would help somebody who hasn't had surgery for this condition either.
In summary, I suspect that following complaints about the smell, the manufacturer has changed the formulation of the gel making it a much harder material. This is going to cause you a world of pain if you have a carpal tunnel issues. Landfill.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not flat and now in bin
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 May 2020

I wondered why my mouse wasn't tracking properly. The surface of the mouse itself isn't actually flat.

It's also curly at the edges, not large enough and the gel pad is really rather firm.

Not recommended.

UPDATE: so not flat mouse has stopped tracking properly and after only two months this item will hit the bin.
