I've written this to put right a couple of misleading commments in other reviews here although I can understand why they were written. One relates to the mouse arriving without the USB dongle. I made the same mistake - my mouse arrived, no visible dongle included in the package. I was in the process of trying to return the item when I discovered the USB dongle is literally tiny and is fitted into the back of the mouse. Take the back off and you will see a tiny section to the left of the mouse with the Logitec logo on. Pull it out and hey presto, there's your dongle (see the pics for details.) Secondly, there was also a comment about the little LED light on the back not working and the buyer therefore considering the mouse faulty. I initially thought the same - I had turned on the mouse and could see it was working fine on the screen but noticed the LED on the back wasn't lit up. However, the Logitec website clears advises the LED light on this mouse is an optical LED and is invisible to the human eye. With these things cleared up I would say this is a perfectly good mouse for the money; it seems to be functioning well so far but if that changes I will amend this review to reflect that.

Nice but did not work straight away!

So I purchased this to allow me to work whilst on business travel. Unfortunately unpacking and pulling out tag for the battery the item did not work. I checked it all, replaced the battery but to no avail. Big disappointment!!

Anyway, as the item was relatively cheap I managed to survive with a wired mouse for the duration of my trip. SO why did I not contact Amazon?? Well, I have been ordering quite a few things lately with Amazon and there have been niggling issues with most of them and Amazon have been great in resolution in each and every case and for the sake of £7.99 I decided to take this one on the chin.

UPDATE so today, just over two weeks since I order the item, I was looking at the mouse and checked online if others have had similar issues. There were some great YOUTUBE videos and I quickly dismantled mine, had a little fiddle around and noticed one of the cable clips had come of its mounting. After pushing this to secure it I put the mouse back together and it now works!!!!! For £7.99 I'm not going to complain and happy I managed to get it to work

Can't go wrong with Logitech products in my experience, and this wireless mouse is no different. I've had a few of these over the last 5 years, each previous one being replaced as a result of my own clumsiness! There's a reason I keep coming back to these!

In the time i've owned Logitech wireless mice, i've never had to replace the battery, and that's with heavy, everyday use (sometimes 12 hours a day) and never switching it off.

One of these was kept in my laptop bag and taken everywhere with me for around 18 months. It was dropped, bumped, knocked, and still it performed as it did when new.

I've always found these to be "plug and play" devices, installing themselves within seconds of plugging in the USB receiver dongle, without any required input from me.

The only issue I had with one was when it was dropped onto a hard floor from a high desk. The impact was enough to break one of the plastic retainers for the scroll wheel. A few minutes taking the mouse apart and hot gluing the broken piece back into place, and all was well!

I knocked one star off the durability rating for this product due to a small issue with the battery cover i've had with the last two mice. The cover doesn't seem to "click" into place. It slides into position as normal, but it doesn't clip closed as it should. I think this is due to the plastic "transit strip" of plastic which isolates the battery when packed, and then needs to be removed prior to product use. It's quite thick, and therefore possibly distorts the plastic of the battery cover over time.

With all this in mind, I would still order another one without hesitation as and when my current mouse meets it ultimate demise at the hands of my cumbersome activities. Absolutely love it!

I've spent weeks looking for the mouse I use with the laptop. The dongle is still plugged in, but where's the mouse? Anyway I decided to bite the bullet and get a budget mouse as I'm being driven to distraction with the thumby-pad-thing. I was a little sceptical about this new mouse as it looks small, and is about 40 quid cheaper than my previous Logitech.

This mouse looks small, but in reality I reckon it is only slightly smaller. But it is VERY comfortable to use - even for someone who struggles to get their hands in a size EU 12 glove. The mouse is light, responsive, and most importantly accurate and smooth to use on screen. It works well on the office desk and smooth to move.

I really like the on-off switch - something that seems to annoy some people, but when travelling it ensures the battery doesn't drain in the ruck. With older mice storing the dongle in the back of the mouse would switch the mouse off. But with this dongle being so small it can stay connected. The dongle can be removed from the laptop and stored securely in the battery compartment if needed. I like the fact this mouse uses a single AA sized battery - as AA batteries last so much better than AAA, and they are usually more readily available. A battery is provided in the retail package.

The dongle receiver is one of the "micro" sized - which means I won't need to remove the dongle when travelling! The old dongle was so large and I always felt it risked being snapped off - or worse - breaking the USB port.

Lightweight. Responsive. Accurate. Ergonomic. Quality feel. Micro dongle. Very competitively priced. Highly recommended

Good piece of equipment when working with a laptop

I recently purchased this to help out when working from home on my laptop, as I work on spreadsheet a lot and the track pad is really difficult to navigate and populate them quickly.
It's very light, very ergonomic and easy to use. The track pad wheel is good and rolls easily without catching, and the clicky noise when you click isn't too loud.
The USB stick to plug in is very small and is stored in the battery compartment meaning that when you don't use it or want to transport it, you can't lose it.
There's an on/off button at the bottom to prevent the battery from running out when not in use.
The battery was also included so it was ready to use straight away.

A Mouse Worth Catching

This comes in blister-type packaging, which is fairly minimal, and a brief 'quick start' guide with the guarantee. The mouse is quite small and light compared to a 'regular' full size one, yet isn't as small as other nano mice you can buy for tablets and netbooks. I have found the shape to be ergonomically designed; it fits in my palm comfortable and the small smooth grooves in the left and right buttons help keep my fingers in place and makes clicking down easier also. To get going, you just pull the plastic strip out that's preventing the battery from connecting, plug the tiny nano receiver in to a regular 2.0 USB slot, and away you go. I love the plug & play aspect of this as there's no timely configuration required. It only requires 1 AA battery, which is included, hence the lighter weight of the mouse. There's also a small on/off switch on the underside if you are wary of conserving battery power, though for home use I wouldn't say this is really necessary when your computer is off and the mouse isn't in use.

The scroll wheel is smooth, a little noisy perhaps but still quieter than a previous mouse I have owned, and the wireless works very well without any lag. I've not had any problems using this on a Windows computer, both Windows 7 and Windows 10. Looks-wise, it's smart, neat and the blue is shiny without looking at all tacky. Very pleased as this is my 2nd M185 now; one for the laptop, one for the desktop.

I've had a bit of a tough time with mice in the past, something always seems to go wrong, but I've just passed the two year mark of owning this mouse and it still works as well as the day I got it.

I think the main thing I've started taking for granted since using this is just how long the battery lasts. My previous mouse was an Anker one, and I had to change the battery every 2-3 weeks, but with this it's about every 5-6 months, maybe more, I'm actually a little shocked when I have to change it. It always hits me by surprise.

The mouse is very comfortable. I have slender-ish hands and fingers so I either usually find them to be a bit too big making my hand feel stretched, or too small and my fingers feel like a spider perched on top, but my hands fit around this nicely and go into all the right places.

The little USB dongle is almost non-existent, it's so small you'll probably forget all about it. I suppose if you will be moving the mouse a lot and using it on various systems that could be a negative as you might lose it easily, but plugged in a desktop permanently that's just how you want it.

This will definitely be the mouse I go to next time I need a new one, though at this rate who knows when that will be!

My package appeared to have arrived with no little USB plug. So after a hissy fit I applied to return for a refund. As I was ordering replacement on Amazon I noticed in the description that the little plug was tucked away inside the mouse. So I undid my original order, and sure enough there it was, and I cancelled my return. Part of the packaging had an empty "Bubble" and I assumed this is where plug should have been. It would help if there was a big label on package saying plug is inside mouse.
Anyway I always buy logitech because they are good, and this one is no exception.

My go-to make of mouse and keyboard. Purchased this one to go with a new laptop.

It took longer to unpack than to set-up! I activated the battery, inserted the dongle into a USB slot and Window 10 did the rest.

Really easy and comfortable to use, with a scroll wheel perfectly positioned for your index finger.

It has equally curved sides which means it is the suitable for both right and left-handed people.

There is an on-off switch on the base, should you be bothered enough, to save battery when not in use.

I have always trusted the Logitech brand more than any others when it comes to a computer mouse. But I had purchased a cheap brand as I wanted a Bluetooth & USB option. When that mouse stopped working after exactly a year, I had learned my lesson and opted for the Logitech M185.

PROS:
* The battery life is stellar, as advertised.
* The smaller profile is ideal for those who travel or have small hands in general.
* The mouse has survived more than a few falls from table top height without sustaining any damages - which vouches for the build quality.

CONS:
* This is a basic mouse, not for gaming as this does not have any programmable buttons which gamers need.
* This is not exactly an issue for most people, but as I create tutorial videos, I found out that the clicking noise of the M185 gets registered quite loudly on the videos, so I opted for another of Logitech's mouse (see the Alternatives section below).

Also the quieter click helps the mouse noise not to be registered in the videos.

As a family, we have used this model for years. My son is a heavy PC user & gamer so goes through one every 18 months but I've had 2 in the last 10 years. Hubby went for this one after his expensive mouse broke.
It does nothing fancy & just has the standard 3 buttons on the top which is all we need. It's a basic ergonomic design & nice size to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand. The controls can be swapped so it suits left or right handers. Decent battery life under 'normal' conditions & has an on/off switch which definitely helps conserve the battery. It's wireless & is basically plug & play so you don't need a degree to get it started. Only downside of a wireless mouse is when Hubby thinks it's funny to hide it & move the screen up & down whilst you're trying to do something!
It a good all rounder which we keep coming back to. I personally don't think they are as robust as they were originally but this is something that seems to be the way of the world.
