Some Important Comments!

I've written this to put right a couple of misleading commments in other reviews here although I can understand why they were written. One relates to the mouse arriving without the USB dongle. I made the same mistake - my mouse arrived, no visible dongle included in the package. I was in the process of trying to return the item when I discovered the USB dongle is literally tiny and is fitted into the back of the mouse. Take the back off and you will see a tiny section to the left of the mouse with the Logitec logo on. Pull it out and hey presto, there's your dongle (see the pics for details.) Secondly, there was also a comment about the little LED light on the back not working and the buyer therefore considering the mouse faulty. I initially thought the same - I had turned on the mouse and could see it was working fine on the screen but noticed the LED on the back wasn't lit up. However, the Logitec website clears advises the LED light on this mouse is an optical LED and is invisible to the human eye. With these things cleared up I would say this is a perfectly good mouse for the money; it seems to be functioning well so far but if that changes I will amend this review to reflect that.

Nice but did not work straight away!

So I purchased this to allow me to work whilst on business travel. Unfortunately unpacking and pulling out tag for the battery the item did not work. I checked it all, replaced the battery but to no avail. Big disappointment!!

Anyway, as the item was relatively cheap I managed to survive with a wired mouse for the duration of my trip. SO why did I not contact Amazon?? Well, I have been ordering quite a few things lately with Amazon and there have been niggling issues with most of them and Amazon have been great in resolution in each and every case and for the sake of £7.99 I decided to take this one on the chin.

UPDATE so today, just over two weeks since I order the item, I was looking at the mouse and checked online if others have had similar issues. There were some great YOUTUBE videos and I quickly dismantled mine, had a little fiddle around and noticed one of the cable clips had come of its mounting. After pushing this to secure it I put the mouse back together and it now works!!!!! For £7.99 I'm not going to complain and happy I managed to get it to work

Can't be paired to a logitech unifying receiver as used with logitech keyboard and mouse combos

Not the fault of Amazon, but my old "M185" mouse stopped working and so I thought I would just buy another "M185" mouse to work with my logitech keyboard and usb dongle, i.e. pair the new mouse with my old dongle (instruction on how to do this are in many places, logitech website, youtube etc.) and all would be good. Sadly not....

I was unable to get my new "M185" mouse to pair with the old keyboard and mouse dongle. It turns out there are several versions of the "M185" mouse. What I needed is one that is compatible with logitech's "Unifying receiver". Sadly this "M185" sold by Amazon is the cheaper version of "M185" and does not support the unifying receiver. This is not Amazons fault, it is Logitech's for using the same product code for 2 versions of a product. However I do feel Amazon should highlight that you will not be able to get the mouse to pair to another logitech receiver. This mouse sold by Amazon will only work with the receiver that comes with the mouse.

Hope that helps someone avoid the same mistake as me.

Compact, but poor performance

I didnt think you could go wrong with a logitech mouse - I've been using them for years and they are always great. However this product proves me wrong.

First off, the awful plastic blister packing - nightmare to open and totally unnecessary.

The receiver is stored inside the mouse - it's a pain to get out, if you have tweezers or needle nose pliers that might help.

The mouse is compact, however the movement is awful. It sticks when moving and doesnt glide over surfaces smoothly. The cursor response is poor and accuracy isnt very good. The right hand mouse mutton is very sensitive and the shape of the mouse is such that it is too easy to click the right hand button by mistake.

The mouse performs on a par with the £5 unbranded chinese models. However it is double that price and you would expect higher standards from logitech

I've always bought Logitech mice, and especially this model over the last 5 years, however, I am very disapointed with two of the three I recently bought.

Within a month, two of them have failed on me. The left mouse button has failed, not only that, from the start, they have performed extremley poor as when I move the mouse, the response onscreen was as if the pointer had been given a blast by a bolt of lightning and proceeded to fly all over the screen in a jerky movement.

I registered them on Logitech's site and when I select to start a return, I am unable to as I can't see the correct option to.

I think I'll stick to buying my mice from an actual shop so I can easily return if faulty.

Pointer jumps when you click - VERY ANNOYING

OK so this seems like a perfect mouse and all the positive reviews would suggest that.. its cheap, compact, easy to use, a little small in the hand (but i have big hands).. but for me it is really infuriating. This is why - every time you click the left (or right) mouse button the mouse pointer shifts position a tiny amount. I can hold my hand away with only a finger on the button to click it, and when i do the mouse itself doesn't budge at all, and yet the pointer will jog up and down. This is very irritating when you are trying to do something that requires precise clicks.. mostly gaming. But it can also be irritating for every day things that require precise clicking (as mundane as going through emails, clicking the ones to delete) as the pointer can jump off its intended position and you end up having to click multiple times. You had one job mouse! And you suck at it.. I think this may be due to the laser which determines the pointer position being jogged/jostled every time you click, due to the flimsy construction of the mouse.

The design of this mouse appears to have changed since the last one I bought a couple of years ago. The design changes are only slight and not a problem at all, what is a problem though is that the quality appears to have suffered. The battery cover would not close fully, and the wheel on the top feels horrible to use. Shame, as the old one was such good value and quality for the price. Returned for a refund.

A decent mouse for everyday use, BUT the battery is awful!!!!!! Less than a week after purchase, the mouse (sitting on the arm of my sofa) would not work. when I picked it up it was wet underneath. The battery was leaking. It has left a mark on my sofa. It was a cheap Chinese battery. The mouse worked again as soon as the battery was replaced.

I would advise anyone buying this mouse to immediately replace the supplied battery with a new , decent, one.

I have a tablet which only has one usb type micro B socket. This means that I use a wired mouse and a bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard was unsatisfactory so I decided to change to bluetooth mouse and wired keyboard. So I ordered a Logitech M185 wireless mouse. Eventually I twig that the nano receiver plugs into the ONLY usb port on my tablet. It works really well but now I can't use my keyboard. To say that I'm annoyed would be a bit of an understatement. Back to the drawing board, dissatisfied of Wythall

Only lasted six months

Sadly, this mouse - really nice to use, dead easy to handle - started acting weird after only six months.

Most commonly, single-clicks would become double or even triple-clicks.

Frequently this meant emails would Open in Outlook, when I just wanted to single-click for a quick look, and also I would inadvertently Exit Outlook a dozen times a day as the mouse had done a 2x or 3x click of its own accord.

So I ordered a new mouse. Shame, because it was good while it lasted. But I can't recommend it unfortunately.

Missing part & convoluted Customer Service support

The product arrived the next evening after the order. On opening the package I then discovered the USB pairing device was missing. Attempts to contact both Amazon customer service and Logitech were so convoluted, time consuming and expensive. Besides, the, 0008007234 no which Amazon provide for Logitech was a defunct one. In the end I just decided to return to Amazon under their “parts missing “ category.

I already had one of this but had lost it. Then I bought 2 others of different brand, a bit cheaper. After some months I came back to Logitech: this mouse is definitely easy to use, and worked perfectly for 7 months.

Fortunately it has been replaced by Amazon (just 2 days since I complained about it not working and I had got the new one).

The 2 star are only for the excellent guarantee provide by Amazon, as contacting Logitech (manufacturer's guarantee is one year) proved impossible.

Logitech does not even recognise the serial number of their mouse but anyway, after visiting a lot of Logitech webpages you end in their Swiss website, with the address and phone numbers of the Headquarters.
