How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Loads to say about this. I actually bought a bunch of mice to test and I preferred this one out of them all - and this is the cheapest one!!

Positives!
Has a DPI setting - for those who don't know what this means and don't game (like myself), this is your sensitivity button. Like I switch from mac and PC constantly, and you'll notice yourself changing the sensitivity based on how fast / slow you want the cursor... this is awesome to have it on the mouse itself! No more faffing with software on the pc!

It has a power saving mode.. turns off after a while so you can forget about it and use it without the batteries dying!! I always forgot before this to turn mice off with that annoying little switch I had to get my non existing finger nail to move up and down!! All you have to do to turn it on is click once and it's on again! simples!

There's buttons on the sides of it, and this was one of the reasons I was put off by it, but actually they are out of the way so my annoying thumb doesn't catch it!! (the buttons don't work on mac anyway).

The style doesn't hurt my hand after long uses.. and I mean long uses.. I'm a YouTuber so I'm editing on my mac for 8 hours straight!

Battery is never changed because of how good it is for power management, but at least if your battery decides to pack up you can manually replace it.. don't like these new do-dads that have built in batteries because you can't replace them when they decide to fail!!! companies are more money driven than ever!!

Negatives....

Doesn't work on glossy surfaces like my standard glossed table, you have to use this on a matte or roughed surface.
THATS IT.

Can't believe this was the cheapest mouse and is the best. Love it so much!!

++UPDATE FEB 2019++
Unfortunately, this product started having some issues around 4-5 months - mouse cursor would stick on screen. Contacted Bluetree when I got fed up with it and they gave me some troubleshooting steps to work on the issue. After a few days of trying these steps, the issues still remained so they sent out a replacement. Because I'm now unsure what the issue was I'll be keeping this review updated to see how the replacement gets on.

Thank you to Bluetree and their wonderful customer support though (don't see enough of these good customer service companies, so they should be mentioned and appreciated!).

++UPDATE September 2019++

Working fine so far!

++UPDATE May 2020++

Working fine still! :) very happy with this mouse. Fully recommended it! I'm buying another!

1.0 out of 5 starsBoth failed after just 14 - 16 months
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 January 2020
This is my second Teknet mouse that has suddenly stopped working in less than 2 years. At first, I just presumed the batteries needed replacing, but even with fresh batteries it still won't turn on. When my first mouse died, I presumed I was just unlucky, but now my second has also died (and a newer model), it makes me think this could be planned obsolescence!

The mouse has good precision and a nice feel although the new model is clunkier. The new model takes 2AA batteries, but interestingly the old model lasted twice as long between charges on just one battery. Although the battery life is still fairly good, the new model is worse. As they both failed in 14 - 16 months, I can't get my money back. They are quite cheap, so I could just by another, but that is creating yet more unnecessary plastic/electrical waste.

To prevent waste and help the environment, I would recommend buying a more reliable product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really impressed with this gaming mouse!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 May 2018
Colour Name: BlackVerified Purchase
Pleasantly surprised at the build quality, all the buttons and scrolls wheel feel durable and have a satisfying click to them. The battery compartment location also creates a good weight balance when batteries are in place (Batteries aren't included in the box) The battery compartment door fits securely and it houses the wireless dongle which is ideal for travel purposes.

The mouse works on a plug and play basis, simply plug the dongle into a spare USB port, put 2x AA batteries inside the mouse and turn the power slider on located on the underside of the mouse. Within 5 seconds drivers will automatically be installed and the mouse will work. A few things i really like about the mouse are that it has a DPI button so you can increase/decrease the sensitivity on the fly and that it has two dedicated buttons on the side for gaming. Oh yes, you read that right.... this is a fully capable wireless gaming mouse, just without the bells and whistles such as RGB lighting etc.

I also like the energy saving features, so after several seconds if inaction it instantly drops to a semi-low power state, don't worry though as it instantly responds should you move or click the mouse (seriously you wouldn't know) It has has a sleep mode where by the mouse goes into hibernation if inactive after several minutes, simply double clicking the mouse will instantly wake it up with zero lag. It's worth noting that the mouse is shaped for a right handed person.Other things worth noting are that it has a grippy thumb rest, the top is glossy smooth and there is a low battery warning LED on the top which also doubles as the DPI indicator.

VERDICT: For the money i love this mouse, it is well constructed and glad i went for a wireless one in the end (the lack of wires and claimed 12 months of battery life are a big winner for me). It does make me question how some companies can charge 10x as much for mice that don't do much else. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic and well-priced little mouse
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 December 2017

Easy to use and a good low price.

Purchased this mouse as a replacement for my old mouse which was wired and getting a bit tired.

It arrived in great time and was well packaged. I unboxed the mouse, plugged in the USB adaptor, one battery needed and I was ready to go. The mouse has so far worked succinctly and the adjustment for speeds is very useful.

A very high quality product for a very low price.

1.0 out of 5 stars They don't last long...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 August 2019
Colour Name: GreyVerified Purchase
I purchased one of these in January of this year and, unfortunately, it started playing up in June. Given all the positive reviews on here I wrote it off as bad luck and purchased a replacement. Just over 2 months later and the second one is going exactly the same way, so I'm not happy!

In both cases you start to get drop outs from the smooth tracking across the screen; so I assume that is either an intermittent problem with the connection or, more likely, an intermittent problem with the laser. No amount of cleaning will fix it - it's well and truly *&^%!

It may be cheap, but there is a good reason for that.

Buy cheap, buy twice. Or in my case: three times!

Edit to add: I did, however, have a very positive experience with the seller, BLUETREE - they gave me a full refund, no questions asked.

2.0 out of 5 stars They've cheapened the design!! :-(
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 May 2021
Colour Name: GreyVerified Purchase
I've had several of these over the last year or so, for various machines around the house and in the family. I've found that they're excellent value for money, and work well - with the exception of one where the scroll wheel started glitching. This sounds like a common fault, that they probably all succumb to sooner or later.

Anyway, I've recently bought another for a laptop, and lo and behold, they have just changed (cheapened) the design! The mouse is smaller, the scroll wheel is smaller and the whole mouse feels much more cheaply made. Even the on/off switch underneath is smaller! Added to which the button clicks feel less robust and the "forward button" on the side sticks. It is so annoying that companies take a design that works, and "value engineer" it for the sake of pennies. Whilst at the same time, prices have slowly risen!

Really disappointed they have changed the design (without actually updating the pictures on Amazon) and I think I'll be sending this back. I'm unlikely to be buying any more.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty unusable
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2020
Colour Name: GreyVerified Purchase
Edit: By purchasing a male/female USM extension lead, I can now position the receiver less than 50cm from the mouse and I no longer get drop-outs. Increased rating from 1* to 2* because, although the mouse is now much more usable, I really shouldn't need to have the receiver *this* close.

Original review:

So this was a disappointment - the mouse stutters.

The sender is located 70 or 80cm from the mouse.
The desk is a wood-effect laminate.
Conditions are perfect and yet . . . it's like the mouse seems to lose contact with the sender for a split second. And it does this regularly. As one might imagine, the significantly affects the ergonomics of the device.

I give one star because one of the things a mouse *must* do is to track smoothly.

I would have returned the item but I have already thrown away the packaging.

This poor review, by the way, does not even take into account that the first thing that the mouse did when I set it up was lose the 'bond' with its sender.
So I the plugged the sender in and the pointer moved on the screen for a second, then stopped. Long story short, it turned out that the pair bonding had been lost. The very last entry in the user guide explains how to re-pair.

Also, I'm not a huge fan of the mouse's sleep function. Not a biggie, but I would trade some of the (claimed) 30 month battery life for an instant mouse response.

Like I say, the 1 star review is purely for the fact that the mouse stutters as described.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bargain price yet does everything you need.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 September 2019

Having found the similarly-priced offering from Logitech (M238) too small, I purchased this as the dimensions are bigger.

I don't have massive hands, but they are not Trump-style small hands either. I take a European large glove size and I'm 186cm tall, if that's any guide. This mouse fits my hand very well and is comfortable for long periods of use. I spend 7-8 hours a day on this mouse and barely notice it, and that's really important.
Battery life is excellent and the sleep mode activates quickly and wakes up just as fast.
Clicky, tactile buttons and a smooth and--importantly for working in a small office--quiet scroll wheel.
A big bonus for me as well was that it takes AA batteries. I have a bunch of rechargeable Amazon 2000mAh batteries at home so the fact that this takes 2 of those and I can recharge them easily is great. I have no idea when 4000mAh-worth of juice will run out on this though! A comparable power-saving mouse I had didn't use up the power in a single AAA battery over 2 years, so this should be good to go!
The package was professional and robust, meaning it arrived in good condition and the unboxing experience was pleasant.
I highly recommend this if you're on a budget or not. A mouse only really serves one function and it seems pointless to me to spend more than you need to. If you're just buying this to upgrade on the cheapo mouse your company gave you, or just to have at home for word processing, this is brilliant.
It's obviously not a gaming mouse, so if you need something like that, I'm not an expert but I would recommend looking elsewhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars Different from picture

The one on the left is the one I have ordered and the mouse on the right was the mouse I have ordered few months back. Firstly the new mouse's appearance does not match with the advertised pictures on web, you can clearly see the logo were printed in the center on on the side also the plastic pads on the bottom shaped differently too. Secondly the optical sensor were clearly different from my older mouse since the newer mouse does not move the same way as the older mouse despite they were tested on the same surface, note I did tested for the different sensitivity by pressing the button on the mouse. Thirdly on the sticker of newer mouse at the bottom side describe it as a "wireless mouse" rather than the "cordless mouse" which is used on the box and my older mouse's sticker. These makes me think this is either a knockoff or defected product. Be cautious when you buy this mouse.

Reuben
3.0 out of 5 stars Sneaky version update - still okay value
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2022
Colour Name: GreyVerified Purchase
Tecknet have made a sneaky version update on this mouse recently. The newer version can be identified by: the 'Tecknet' logo placed towards the edge of the mouse rather than the centre, the LED indicator colour red rather than green, and the sensor now uses visible red LED rather than infrared.

I went to order a 2nd mouse after having a good experience with the first one I had purchased a couple of years ago for work. To my disappointment, although the URL / Amazon listing has remained the same, a number of negative changes have been made to this mouse (most likely as a cost saving measure). The changes are subtle enough not to be noticed in the product pictures before ordering (and not all product pictures have been updated as of Jan '22).

The side grips are now solid plastic, rather than the slightly rubbery-feeling textured finish to the previous version. The once infrared LED for the tracking sensor is now visible bright red (feels quite 2008), so when you switch the mouse on, you instantly get blinded. The scrollwheel appears to be set a little too deep (could just be a defect with my unit), so you often catch your finger on the plastic edges of the left/right buttons when scrolling up. The switches appear to be a fair bit louder and have more resistance.

The mouse is still okay value for a wireless mouse, battery life amazing, ergonomics great aside from the scrollwheel - just a little disappointing when the previous version was the same price and, in my opinion nicer to use.

I am not sure why this is labelled as 'for gaming', if this is the intention, you may find the wireless latency and lower polling rate (most 'gaming' mice use 1000hz / 1ms) to be fairly high, especially for FPS games.
