Amazing for Psoriasis and Dermatitis if used in conjunction with other products :)

I am so thankful I tried this product!! I had very bad Dermatitis on my scalp which was causing sores and my hair to fall out from the follicle due to the stress. I was looking for a product which would remove the flakes without inflaming my scalp further and it is very effective. It is even more effective when used with other products and preventative measures.

For those suffering from an inflamed scalp particularly Psoriasis or Dermatitis here is my own treatment plan which I have had much success with (Please note I am not a doctor);

-Use Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo a few times a week to remove the worst of the flakes (It really helps shift them- I had big painful patches of these which were hardened lumps of skin and after 2 applications I already see a BIG difference)
-I used steroid (hydrocortisone) cream on the worst patches of skin once hair is dry (Dry on a cooler heat so not to irritate the scalp. Or let your hair dry naturally for as long as possible)
-I apply hemp oil to my whole scalp at night (make sure its organic and cold pressed preferably) and wear a hair net (shower cap, wig cap etc will do)
The hemp oil takes the itch away straight away. The hair net allows your scalp to breathe but keeps it moist and warm so that the hemp oil can soothe your scalp overnight. You will need a net otherwise the hemp oil could stain your pillowcases. Apply the hemp oil mask at night a few times a week or whenever you need to. Its easiest at night as it will leave your hair extremely oily, although if in discomfort apply during the day also.
-In the morning wash the hair with the Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo. It recommends doing this 2-3 times a week on the bottle and will remove more of the excess Hemp Oil from the evening before.

Tips:
~Don't use steroid cream for too long as it can thin your skin.
~Patch test the Hemp Oil if you have not used it before and leave behind your ear for 48 hours prior to test for a reaction. You do not have to dilute it and it is a safe product to use.
~Don't use Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo too often as it will dry your hair out. Use it 3 times a week.
~I use Dr Bronner'S Baby Castile Liquid Soap in between shampoos which doesn't irritate my scalp. It is the gentlest shampoo I have found so far.
~If you have dry ends from the use of the Neutrogena T/Gel then Apple cider vinegar is a good substitute for chemical conditioners, so is coconut oil. Apply after you have washed the shampoo out.
~Avoid alcohol and citrus based shampoos which can irritate your scalp further.
~Avoid colouring your hair when you are going through a flare- it will only make it worse.
~Your diet can also have a big impact on your health - your skin is your biggest organ!

I ordered this shampoo for my husband who has a condition which involves very flaky and itchy skalp and facial skin.

During the recent years he tried many different cosmetics, but in the best case the product helps him few months - if he finds any which works. One of my friend mentioned this shampoo making her miracles with psoriasis and itchiness, so I thought to give it a try.

This sampoo has a very strong and unpleasant smell and after the first use made my husband's head even more flaky. We tought that with use stated in the box of the product will get better, however it just got worst. He stopped using this shampoo after few times because he still felt itchy and had even more flakes than before this product. He went back to use his regular shampoo and his head was still flaky as never before! I hope he will recover from this experience in some point.

The minimum order was 2 bottles - it is lot if you look at it from the point of view that doesn't help for everybody. I send both bottles back and got refund from Amazon.

I don't really recommend to try out this shampoo, however it might help you with psoriasis.

Unpleasant smell, but full of good nutrients for the hair

Firstly, it's important to note that this shampoo has a very distinct 'medicated' smell - it smells like that anti-nit lotion that used to be around a lot in the 90s. Not something that smells nice, and not something that will work with your 'nice relacing bath' ideas.

Other than that, no real complaints. These things require continued use, however it's full of the key elements that the hair and scalp need in general.

I don't have dandruff, however do have an itchy scalp from time to time and after 1-2 weeks use, that hasn't happened.

It doesn't add volume or make your hair 'sleek' strangely it makes the hair drier than usual.

It works well but smells like paint stripper.

I had to purchase this because my hair was falling out in clumps and my scalp hurt to touch. I've been using this for two weeks and it is a lot better. I also do not need to wash my hair as often (I was washing it daily before using this - now I get away with washing it every other day).

It's lost a star purely because of the smell - it's very strong and chemically.

Do not give up with this after 2-3 washes. I have awful psoriasis on the base of my scalp for over a year and it became sore and very raised as well and large flakes of dandruff. After 2 weeks, washing every 3rd day, I can say it has made a huge difference. At first I thought ‘it’s jot working my scalp is still itchy and I have dandruff’ but I did notice the raised bumps had gone and it was no longer sore. After a couple more washes the dandruff stopped and the itching went. I think (I may be wrong) that it takes time for your skin to repair and the dead damaged skin to Shed. So once your skins repaired you will see a massive difference. So if you stick with it and have psoriasis, not always dermatitis, then it will work. Some people may not know what’s causing it, so it may not work for them.

I often get stressed easily and my head becomes itchy and irritant. I don't know if I get stressed because my head is itchy, or my head is itchy because I'm stressed or both, but all I know is that I experience it a lot and requires me to take a little break from whatever I am doing.

I was desperate to fix this, so I found this. Upon opening the box, they make sure it's known to you that it contains tar gel. I don't really know what it is, but I can say that I initially was quite worried as the first thing that came to mind was what roads were made of. I have used a whole bottle and I can say that this hasn't affected me negatively, although this could still affect someone else.

Some people dislike the smell, but I actually like it. It is indeed very strong of a smell, and I can see it being really annoying if you don't like it. I think that it smells quite medicinal.

The texture is quite thick when coming out of the bottle. It doesn't flow out like most normal shampoo would but more like squeezes out. I had no problems applying this to my head/hair.

Does it work? I'm fairly certain it's closer to the NO side than it is to the yes side. Reason being is that I didn't really feel any physical change, and when I think about my head being itchy, then I do start feeling it. The problem with this is that the more you think about your head, the worse it gets. When it's nagging you in your mind and can't think about anything else/put your mind aside to the thought of your head being itchy, I feel it's almost impossible to just 'un-think it'. I needed something to take my mind of it. Something that would keep my mind at rest thinking that the shampoo was doing something - the placebo effect. I do get the occasional feeling, but it's much less now, and now that it happens less frequently, I also think about it less.

I am now currently at the stage where I am aware that it is mostly in my mind and that the product was mostly a placebo effect, and I now feel like this feeling of 'being aware of the placebo effect, has helped me start to not become as stressed in regard to my head, and as a result think about it less.

So yes, it didn't fix my problem but got most of the way there, and probably not by the intended method.

It's worth noting that a lot of my problems had connections to temperature, heat especially. When I had longer hair, when I ran to a bus and sat down, inside a cramped hall etc... Having colder showers may get you quite the way there...

I have been suffering for a long time now with a flaky scalp and some issues with my skin on my forehead. So I decided to give this a go. I'm going on holiday soon, so wanted to get it cleared up. I liked using it. It has a totally unique smell. It smells like tar, which is one of the ingredients. I loved the smell.

"Active ingredients: Solubilised Coal Tar Extract"

I thought (wrongly) that I might have had Seborrhoeic Dermatitis (dry, itching scalp)
It turns out I needed something a bit stronger to help out with my issue. But this did help in a couple of ways.
The relief I experienced when using it was noticeable. Especially under my hair. The itching did stop to a large extent. I also found it didn't leave my hair feeling like straw. Some other treatments I tried did.
In the end I needed anti-biotics and steroids. Which seems to have made the issue go away. But this did give me some mild relief.

It should be used as often as two or three times a week, for the treatment of itchy, flaky scalp disorders such as dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and scalp psoriasis.

Suitable for
Adults and children 12 years and over.

I do recommend this if you suffer from itchy scalp or dandruff. It definitely provided me with some much needed help.

Itchy or sore scalp ... ?

I put my hair up a lot and as a result, I get a sore scalp... I also get scalp eczema from certain shampoos and I was struggling...

This shampoo smells lovely if you're an 80's kid - like Vosene & Carbolic soap! It absolutely did help my sore scalp and eczema but it is very VERY drying!

Have a good deep conditioner ready to use afterwards!

I only use this if I'm having particularly bad issues, not as a regular shampoo and so, occasional use isn't a problem but I wouldn't want to use this as often as directed.

This stuff works like magic. I use it three times a week to keep my skin issues away and it's a lovely alternative to the more expensive stuff out there. That said, for 250ml, I still think they are pushing the price a bit too high, but again, because I use it only three times a week, it tends to last a bit longer. For me, if something works and continues to do what it says it will do, then I will pay to use it.

Reviewed by my partner "I'm still on the fence with this shampoo. My scalp was extremely itchy and flaky and my previous shampoo had stopped helping.
The itching has got a lot less and the visible flakes have reduced but neither has completely gone away.
Have been using every other day for nearly 3 weeks and hoped for better results.

The issue mentioned by others about the strong smell hasn't bothered me at all in fact I would described the smell as clean.

My hair does feel pretty dry after use and being very long it is quite difficult to brush after use.

Will persevere until the bottle has finished and reserve final judgement until then".

Great for spots on scalp / psoriasis

I've been using this product for many years and regularly buy from amazon when the price is good.
I find if i use a regular shampoo without this then i suffer with spots on my scalp which are itchy and unsightly after having my hair cropped.

* Dont need to use a large amount and advised not to use every day - i normally use every 3rd day in the shower
* Works best by massaging into your scalp first before getting in the shower and wait a few minutes.
* I also use a cheap scalp massager once in the shower which also helps get rid of dead skin / exfoliate

The biggest downside is the smell isnt great but its still worth it to get a healthier scalp!!
Would buy again (and frequently do!)

It’s smelly but it works

It’s made of coal tar, so I don’t know what I was expecting but it smells of petrol fumes. It reminds me of stopping to fill up the car on long road trips as a child, smelling these fumes, and knowing I was going to get carsick. I can’t stand the smell, which is a real pity as it works. I’ve just moved to the UK and started suffering from bad dandruff for the first time in my life. My head itches and I can feel patches of thick scaly skin on my scalp. All of the supermarket remedies have done nothing. I can only stand to use this shampoo once a week because the smell makes me feel sick for the next day or so until it fades but my head is less itchy and I have less bile up of dry scaly patches. I can stand to go a day now without washing my hair if I need to without the itchiness killing me. So, long story short, fabulous product… pity I have a sensitive nose
