Amazing for Psoriasis and Dermatitis if used in conjunction with other products :)

I am so thankful I tried this product!! I had very bad Dermatitis on my scalp which was causing sores and my hair to fall out from the follicle due to the stress. I was looking for a product which would remove the flakes without inflaming my scalp further and it is very effective. It is even more effective when used with other products and preventative measures.

For those suffering from an inflamed scalp particularly Psoriasis or Dermatitis here is my own treatment plan which I have had much success with (Please note I am not a doctor);

-Use Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo a few times a week to remove the worst of the flakes (It really helps shift them- I had big painful patches of these which were hardened lumps of skin and after 2 applications I already see a BIG difference)
-I used steroid (hydrocortisone) cream on the worst patches of skin once hair is dry (Dry on a cooler heat so not to irritate the scalp. Or let your hair dry naturally for as long as possible)
-I apply hemp oil to my whole scalp at night (make sure its organic and cold pressed preferably) and wear a hair net (shower cap, wig cap etc will do)
The hemp oil takes the itch away straight away. The hair net allows your scalp to breathe but keeps it moist and warm so that the hemp oil can soothe your scalp overnight. You will need a net otherwise the hemp oil could stain your pillowcases. Apply the hemp oil mask at night a few times a week or whenever you need to. Its easiest at night as it will leave your hair extremely oily, although if in discomfort apply during the day also.
-In the morning wash the hair with the Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo. It recommends doing this 2-3 times a week on the bottle and will remove more of the excess Hemp Oil from the evening before.

Tips:
~Don't use steroid cream for too long as it can thin your skin.
~Patch test the Hemp Oil if you have not used it before and leave behind your ear for 48 hours prior to test for a reaction. You do not have to dilute it and it is a safe product to use.
~Don't use Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo too often as it will dry your hair out. Use it 3 times a week.
~I use Dr Bronner'S Baby Castile Liquid Soap in between shampoos which doesn't irritate my scalp. It is the gentlest shampoo I have found so far.
~If you have dry ends from the use of the Neutrogena T/Gel then Apple cider vinegar is a good substitute for chemical conditioners, so is coconut oil. Apply after you have washed the shampoo out.
~Avoid alcohol and citrus based shampoos which can irritate your scalp further.
~Avoid colouring your hair when you are going through a flare- it will only make it worse.
~Your diet can also have a big impact on your health - your skin is your biggest organ!

I ordered this shampoo for my husband who has a condition which involves very flaky and itchy skalp and facial skin.

During the recent years he tried many different cosmetics, but in the best case the product helps him few months - if he finds any which works. One of my friend mentioned this shampoo making her miracles with psoriasis and itchiness, so I thought to give it a try.

This sampoo has a very strong and unpleasant smell and after the first use made my husband's head even more flaky. We tought that with use stated in the box of the product will get better, however it just got worst. He stopped using this shampoo after few times because he still felt itchy and had even more flakes than before this product. He went back to use his regular shampoo and his head was still flaky as never before! I hope he will recover from this experience in some point.

The minimum order was 2 bottles - it is lot if you look at it from the point of view that doesn't help for everybody. I send both bottles back and got refund from Amazon.

I don't really recommend to try out this shampoo, however it might help you with psoriasis.

Good stuff but broke me out

I stopped using this for a while and the itchy horrible scalp issues I had came back so I went back to using this and it's helped a lot with the flaking, plus it makes my hair feel nice and clean but it hasn't helped so much with the itching. It also broke me out on my hairline area so if you are prone to breakouts and want to use this just try to avoid putting it directly on your hairline or near the skin on your face because it might do the same for you.

Also, the smell is something you get used to, I used to hate it but I actually quite like it now. Would recommend this product for flaking 100% but like I said I still get itchy in the usual places but to be fair on it I have only just started using it again and you need to give it time to work since it is a treatment. I would give it 4/5 stars but I'm knocking a star off for the breakout it caused.

Worth a try

I suffer from scalp psoriasis and have done on and off for several years now. It’s all about finding the right treatment for you and personally T Gel isn’t that effective. It does calm the itching which is always welcome but it doesn’t reduce the psoriasis noticeably. Instead I now use Sorion Creme which helps hugely whenever I have a flare up. This shampoo is still worth trying for any sufferer though, as it’s all about finding the right specific treatment for you.

Ive used this in the past long ago and now my son is experiencing a severe dry scalp so bought this in one of my many experiments to try to get rid of it, used it a couple of times with zero results his scalp went red raw after each washing I think this is too harsh for his head, we had much better results with aloe vera than this product and finally have it in a good state using the new head and shoulders range for scalp treatments which the whole range of products work out cheaper than this product (ml for ml)
The smell still isnt great it hasnt changed in over 20 years surely they could sort that out in this time?
There are much better value for money on this product in supermarkets and pharmacies this is very small bottle - which is what I needed as it was more of a tester product before making bigger purchases.
Cant recommend since Ive used it years ago it didnt work and failed to do anything for my son either - shame really as most people turn to this brand being the most well known

Helped itchy scalp but can't get rid of dandruff

My scalp suddenly became so dry, itchy and flaky when the winter came. I was amazed how this shampoo instantly relieved the itchiness. It felt so much better using it. My dandruff reduced 50% with one wash. But it failed to get rid of the dandruff entirely. After two months I still suffered from dandruff though not as serious as before. I'm still using this but seems it's not gonna improve more. And actually I can't stop using it, once I tried to use my normal shampoo, the dandruff came back more. I have to look for a better solution, before that, this shampoo is a good temporary measure.
I read some people complain about the scent but I don't think it's a problem.

Not seen much difference but do not want to judge the product quality as it may just not be what I need.

I struggle with a dry scalp (waiting for doctors to confirm what this actually is), but this doesn’t seem to be improving so assume whatever the condition is causing this, that this shampoo does not support it.

I’m still using it however as it does make my hair feel much thicker after use so I can see some other benefits even if it’s not why I originally bought the product.

Seems effective against scabs on scalp

Bought this after a dermatologist diagnosed me with not dandruff but scabs on my scalp. A dryness that makes it itchy and flaky and honestly, gives a really bad impression. The dermatologist offered no medical treatment but to try and stress less and perhaps use a shampoo for it. After some research I bought this and about a month after using almost every other two days I have seen a difference.
The problems: smells horrid, leaves the hair feeling drier. I have refrained from complementing the treatment with a conditioner that could perhaps solve the dry hair issues but make my scalp itchy again so might look for other similar shampoos and see if there's any other with added ingredients that perhaps solve two problems at a time.

Honest Opinion!

I bought this shampoo as it was recommended by peers and as per the review.
I have been using this for months now, once every 3 days

-I would say that it definitely reduced the amount of dandruff to 50%-70% but not completely.
-The smell of the shampoo was so strong that people have complained that it smelled like old medicine.
-The application is 25 minutes on average as 10 minutes per section
-The bottle sufficient for a couple of months
-It leaves the hair very dry
-Quite expensive for the product

I will probably change to another product as it didn't really work for me

I think this did help at soothing my head and making it less itchy, but it also has a quite dreadful and strong smell that lingers for a long time.

I dont think i will be buying again because my problem is probably more habit than an actual "itchy head", so when i start picking my head i cant stop and then in return it just gets itchier and itchier. I found that if i dont touch my scalp or pick at it and try my best to not think about it, then its fine. But as soon as i do then it starts the whole process of trying to wean myself off anxiety scalp picking.

So yeah overall i dont think i'm really the target market of the product and i wont be buying again.

STINKS but it works

I had a very itchy scalp - it was driving me mad! Lots better after 3 uses but WOW it smells horrendous! I genuinely kept forgetting I had used this and kept thinking a neighbour had lit a bbq or there was tarmac being laid on the road outside.. I couldn’t deal with it and I now am using it on one latch at the back of my head where the itching is really bad and leaving it to soak it but then rubbing head and shoulders into the rest of my head so that my whole head of hair doesn’t smell like tar

Got to admit, I’ve only used this once so I can’t comment on its effectiveness yet but the smell of it…horrendous. I can only compare it to super strong mothballs. The whole bathroom stank after using it, my hair too - it lingers! In fact, as I’m writing this review, the smell is transporting me back to backpacking in really grotty places around Asia. For me, I’m not sure the effectiveness of it is worth the smell, especially as there’s other brands out there.
