4.0 out of 5 starsGood book, but needed better editing

I had the pleasure of meeting Monty a couple of times, just as A.N.Other face on corporate visits to the team, and as a pure enthusiast watching the team both in the flesh and through numerous documentaries and media appearances, I can honestly say that I think he was one of the best Red 1s the team ever had.
That said, this book- though definitely a good read and very insightful- is a little disjointed and clearly needed a better edit. Many facts are repeated several times over- for example, the meaning the 'Eclat' team motto. The whole thing reads like a series of larger essays that have been stitched together- it almost worked as a whole, but...not quite. Being an 'official' history by the serving OC, don't expect to find anything here about the controversy over the relationship between the first female member of the team and her leader, for example- it is all rather dry and 'safe'. While I wasn't looking for anything salacious, it does get most interesting though when we get some more personal insight- his reactions following his collision with Lingy, for example.
Still a good read, though.
