A powerful book

I'd heard so much about Colleen Hoover, I just had to see what all the fuss was about - so I picked up this book, and boy was I glad I did. It Ends With Us is compulsively readable with a heartbreaking and powerful story. The characters are so well drawn, there is no black and white here - which is hugely important considering the subject matter. To make your reader fall in love with a character and also hate them is quite a feat. I also really liked the simple yet sharply observed descriptions of how the characters moved; I don't think I've ever visualised that so vividly, and it really added to the action in each scene. I was completely drawn in and sat staring at the book long after I'd finished it. Thank you Colleen Hoover for bravely writing this story.

Wow. The power of social media.

I bought this book because of raving reviews about it on TikTok. Well the power of social media worked because I bought it and I can’t say I was anywhere as impressed as I thought I would be. In fact I wanted to stop reading it several times because it felt so cheesy. The storyline and events were sad topics but three quarters of the book was a cheesy love story that often made me cringe. As a lover of chick lit, even this was too much for me. I personally wouldn’t recommend. Sorry.

Disappointing after all that hype

I wanted to like this book soooo much. And I did the first chapter, after that it went down hill. The story is not too bad but there is no real twists, only soapy drama, flat characters, no depth, simple writing, repetitive. It’s YA read which I guess I grew out of, but saying that I read good YA books, and this one is too simple.

This book started well, and overall has a good story 2/5. The writing is very childish, when she writes she explains what the characters are feelings, rather than make you feel their pain with simple words, she goes on and on about explaining and over explaining the stereotypes of a feeling rather than making it unique for the character. The characters don’t engage in any transformations, they are a bit dull. The story with the old lover was the part of this book, I enjoyed the letters she wrote and I enjoyed all the ester egg that led to the meeting of the guy, I also very much enjoyed their relationship, which is why I have 2 starts instead of 0. The ending is very much rushed in my opinion and it would have made the book 100 times better if the ending was spread over few more chapters to give time to the characters to develop, but that’s my persona opinion. The main character Nick is a walking red flag from page 1 and in the ending there is a hint of changing personality that you would find in a book for 13 years old girls. The topic discussed in this book is very tough, so I expected way more from this book, I wanted this book to be gut wrenching but it just wasn’t.

I was looking forward to reading this, I had seen it all over instagram, I’d looked at what everyone thought, ‘heartbreaking story’. so I bought it. I am quite a quick reader so, got this done in about 2 days. Every seconds of that I was hoping for something a little less predictable. I mean there wasn’t a point which I thought it wasn’t going anywhere. But I don’t believe it deserves the hype it was given. It is just a matter of opinion, but i was expecting better. :(

I expected a lot more for the hype this book gets, average at best. Bearable read but the long journal posts went on for what felt forever.. I expected a dramatic ending but this left me wondering what on earth people see in this book. 2* because it was a light easy read but when people call this heartbreaking it’s far from it

It Ends With Us is a book that will take you on an emotional journey especially at the start. Nearing Part Two however Lily's love interest and husband, Ryle becomes abusive just like her dad and I did not know this book contained abuse. I urge you to be sure that your in a good place, to be able to read this book because I thought I was but it made my stomach turn and I was unable to finish the book in the best mind space. 2 out of 5 overall.

Read Verity by the same author and wanted to read more by her. But this book is a little depressing and disappointing. The connection between the characters is forced and even the friendships are so unbelievable. Skimmed through the last half of the book.

I don't think the reviews did any justice to the book.
Is a very cheesy story and very obvious at times.
The book and the reference to her childhood are quite good but what's going on in the present it's just rubbish. I particularly deslike her whole RELATIONSHIP WITH Rylie its just to staged.
I haven't read anything else from the author and not sure I will in the future.
