How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

How have I not read this already? I’ve read most of Colleen’s books and I now I need to make sure I read the ones I haven’t. -
So I found out I can watch the series on this book on amazon prime so I needed to read this first before I watch the series and got though this so quickly. .

I love Colleen writing it’s so easy to read, I loved the characters Auburn and Owen immediately and how guilt shapes each character that gets you right in the heart. The confess plot was clever and I loved the concept of the interpretation on “confessions” it’s a must read. .

A bonus as Owen is an artist there is images of his art in this book

with that being said, i did find most of this book hard to get through and kind of boring. i didn't agree with some of auburn's choices, but i also think it depicts aspects of motherhood well.
the ending was perfect and so beautiful that it made up for the uneventful first part of the book.

if you're looking for a hot and steamy romance book, this is NOT IT. but if you're looking for a written in the stars, beautiful type of love story, it's exactly that. colleen's mind amazes me.

I’ve read a few of Colleen hoovers book and she is an excellent writer but she simply fails with this story. The story line was extremely boring and not engaging. The characters completely not Relatable. It was a task to Finish the book. The word bland comes to mind it just didn’t work. I recommend not reading or wasting your time you will be left with a sour taste in your mouth. The book was completely vanilla and the pictures provided in the book well there really was no need for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking and beautiful

"There are people you meet that you get to know, and then there are people you meet that you already know."

I can't believe how long it has taken me to actually pick this book up and read it! It's been sat on my bookshelf for over 2 years but it somehow never quite made the cut when it came to me choosing my next book. Thankfully, the book being made into a TV series kicked me into gear and I finally picked it up, and then couldn't put it down until I had read the entire thing!

This story was unique and beautiful and featured two characters who I immediately connected with. Sure there were some parts of the story that I guessed at (as we all do with most romance novels), but there were other parts that I just didn't see coming and that flawed me. The romance is so much deeper then even I was expecting and there is a strong sacrifice theme running through it too which made it the perfect amount of emotional for me.

"I'm scared I'll never feel this again with anyone else," I whisper.
He squeezes my hands. "I'm scared you will."

One reason why I love CoHo books is that they are not filled with drama just for dramas sake, everything that is in there needs to be in there. The entire story line had me gripped and once I (finally!) picked this book up I didn't put it down again until I had finished it. CoHo has this incredible ability to spoon feed us just enough information through out the book that keeps us on the edge of our seats the entire time and when I got to the end of the book and everything was revealed I was stunned to silence.

This book is unique due to it's connection with the art that is both written into it but also featured in the book itself. Danny O'Connor's art work is beautiful in itself, but when combined with the confessions featured in the book it becomes so much more powerful.

One cool thing about this book is that all of the confessions in it came from real people, who anonymously sent them into Colleen. There are some confessions which made my heart hurt, some which made me cry, others which made me smile. But knowing that they had all come from real life people just made their messages so much more powerful than is CoHo had made them up herself.

"I’ll love you forever. Even when I can’t.” My tears fall harder at his words. “And I’ll love you forever. Even when I shouldn't.".

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, definitely one to re-read

I am a massive fan of Colleen Hoover’s and I had this book on pre-order. Due to my TBR being huge and having some bookish commitments it’s taken me a little longer than I would’ve like to get round to reading this but I can 110% say that it was worth the wait. Sit back and prepare yourself for some wonderful, classic Colleen Hoover.

The story is all about Auburn Reed and artist Owen Gentry. The pair meets as if by chance when Auburn finds herself in need of a job and Owen needs a last minute art gallery assistant. After an emotional prologue, the very beginning of the story is so great. It introduces you to Owen’s art straight away and the whole concept behind “Confess”. And it’s such a clever concept! I won’t say much more about it because it’s so great to read about but wow Colleen, 10/10!

Auburn has gone through a lot for her young age and although it is alluded to in the prologue the magnitude of her situation isn’t unveiled until much later in the story, by which time I was so swept up in the chemistry between Owen and Auburn I completely never seen it coming! If anything it makes you appreciate Auburn’s character even more and helps to understand her actions a bit more. The trouble isn’t over for her and the book is a whole rollercoaster of emotions and feelings of regret for the life she’s missing out on and self-sacrifice in order to please other people. It’s a tough read but I just couldn’t put it down.

Owen is quite a complicated character, particularly in Auburn’s eyes as the secrets just keep on coming. Fortunately the story is told in dual POV so you know a little bit more than Auburn and when everything is revealed you just fall in love with him a little bit more. Owen ties the whole story together more than you know throughout and I absolutely LOVED his tie to Auburn.

I really love the cover of this book and after reading it I have a whole new appreciation for it! There is always something more with Colleen’s books whether it’s poetry, music or in this case art. I love that it adds a whole new sensory level to the book and that really sets them apart from the crowd.

I have loved everything I’ve read by Colleen and I’ve even re-read a couple of her books more than once. Confess was such a compelling story that I am sure I will be re-reading it just to be back with Owen and Auburn.

4.0 out of 5 stars I confess I loved this book

Scrolling through my Instagram feed, I stopped at one picture that was just text. It was an anonymous confession. Intrigued, I carried on reading the posted confessions. Some made me laugh, some made me cry, and other broke my heart. The comments were uplifting, helpful despite the people commenting not knowing who had confessed, and others were downright funny. Knowing this was linked to a new Colleen Hoover book, I was both nervous and excited.

I have waited so long to read this book because I knew it was going to rip my heart out and stomp all over it, but when I finally did pluck up the courage to open it, I couldn't put it down.

Auburn Reed is 20 and is struggling. She lost her first love (only love really) to an dreadful disease, and since then she's never managed to settle. She plays her cards close to her chest, and we the reader is left wondering what happened in the five years since she was forced to say a final goodbye to Adam.

Owen Gentry hides away in his art studio, inspired by people's deepest, darkest confessions. Submitted without names via a slot in the door to his studio. Then, once a month he showcases his artwork that these words inspire. - now this is a GREAT concept, one that had me wanting more and more. The inclusion of some of his paintings into the book made Hoover's words come to life. The only thing I would have liked to have had more of, was more of Owen's artistic process. We only really ever hear about the end results of what he is painting, not while he is painting.

When Auburn walks into Owen's studio looking for a job, he recognises her and her name straight away. Why? He keeps that to himself. There's an instant attraction between the two of them, but because of aspects of each of their lives, they try not act upon them. When they do arrange to meet, Owen stands Auburn up.

What follows on is a story of heartache and more secrets. Told from both character's POV, the reader finds things out as Owen and Auburn reveal them.

Such a wonderful story, told extremely well. I'm looking forward to seeing the tv series adaptation of it (If I can view it in the UK)

3.0 out of 5 stars Readable but unrelatable

This book is definitely readable like most of her other books but I didn’t find any of the characters relatable. The story is strangely like her other book reminders of him where it involves a car crash and grandparents keeping her son from her with a love story mixed in. I find auburns character a bit pathetic. I finished it but it annoyed me by the end. If you want to read a better book I recommend reminders of him instead. It’s basically the same but better.

Treasure Cove Book Reviews
5.0 out of 5 stars This story is truly beautiful in its wholeness.

I guess I should start this post by stating that I am indeed a fan of Colleen Hoover (I particular love Ugly Love and Maybe Someday) so it wasn't any great surprise to me that on reading Confess I loved this also. . .

However, I did not account for how much I would fall in love with this story! I don't want to spoil the ending for you all - but just wowzers!! OMG the ending is one of the most breathtakingly bittersweet and beautiful things I have ever come across! Ever! Seriously people it is that amazing. If you don't normally read Colleen's work (firstly, why?! are you insane? Go read Confess and Ugly Love NOW!) read this book just for the experience of an absolutely perfectly plotted ending that is beautifully written. I think the thing that I adored about the ending the most was that I genuinely had no idea of the connection right up until it was revealed - which is a rarity. Although, again this really shouldn't have surprised me as this is one of the reasons that I like Colleen's writing, she doesn't write straightforward romance stories, there is always a quirk or a twist.

Now, I have read some people's reviews of Confess that feel that the book gets kind of lost in the middle and although I can see why they would feel this way - I absolutely do not. I love the fact that the story doesn't feel rushed - and that isn't to say that it drags in any way or form! I appreciate that by giving Auburn and Owen time to develop as a couple, and it wouldn't have made sense to have some of the later events happen (especially because at this point the reader doesn't know the full connection to the past these two share) if they didn't have the chance to grow together. Also, a lot happens in this book, I personally don't really know what more people could want to happen - but then that's just me!

Owen's character is definitely swoon worthy and I really enjoyed him as the main love interest. He certainly proves himself and his love of Auburn at several points in the book - which is really good to see (sometimes when I'm reading a romance novel I literally sit there and say "why him?" because there is nothing I hate more than a love interest who doesn't deserve the reader's, let alone the character's, time of day!). Owen's character is really what I would call a 'stand-up-guy', and I appreciate this, he acts out of love and loyalty in regards to his father and Auburn. My only criticism of him is that because we don't know the connection between him and Auburn, occasionally, he comes off sounding a little creepy or OTT. But hey-ho I'll take this small character flaw because it is actually redeemed in the last chapter of the book, so I'm not complaining that much!

I re-read Confess after starting this review to refresh my memory and the end still made me tear up - the story is truly beautiful in its wholeness. Honestly, there are parts of this book that I don't particularly like, or don't connect to, but the ending, or rather the connection between Owen and Auburn, for me absolutely (110%) negates all of those small things. I think the link between the two and the ending chapters are a tribute to Colleen's ability to craft a, near, perfect love story that extends beyond the physical and even emotional and reaches instead into the soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars I must Confess.. I loved this story

So I have not been able to read even one tenth of the books I did over the last couple of years.. in fact life has been so crazy it has taken me this long to read Confess!! Colleen Hoover is my Author whose books I MUST READ on release day and that just didn't happen this time.. and now I am sad that I didn't have this story in my life from the moment it was out in the world!!.

I have to be honest and say that if asked how this book left me feeling I would say Heart Broken... But not because of the story.. Nope.. because it ended at all!! This is just a book that leaves you wanting the people to be real.. for Owen and Aubern to be friends in your real life so that you can see how there lives pan out and maybe even be a part of it. That is what CH does.. she writes characters you love and cherish forever.

Confess made me feel so many things but with such a wonderful intensity.. At grimes things felt utterly Hopeless (see what I did there) and I just found myself crying for them and other times I found I held my breath with Aubern in total anticipation. For all of this I once again want to say...

Thank You Colleen Hoover for the magic of your books!!!!
