If you seriously want to lose weight forget about paying for those 'classes'........ This is how you do it. Buy this book and every day just choose any one of their fab recipes for your main meal. Breakfast and lunch recipes are good, too. In the first few weeks my husband and I lost over 10lbs each... And trust me it's really no hardship. And we're not in the obese category either!! We're just carrying extra around the mid-riff (me) and belly (his lordship)!
We used it ( and still dip in and out as and when to keep weight down).
Bought this one for my son and have recommended it to many others.
I wouldn't write such a glowing review if it wasn't true. A must for anyone who wants to lose weight.

There are a lot of different recipes here so you won't get bored and you don't feel like your missing out or forced to eat nothing but salad leaves and tomatoes. The fakeaway curries were very popular and hugely flavoured, my Husband, who is stinting on food praise was proud to serve some of them to his friends. I'm usually lucky to get a "that was good", but I got "that was really nice, everyone liked it".
Surprisingly there was also cakes recipes. The skinny carrot cake was that good my sleepwalking self ate most of it. I was absolutely raging the next day when I found it missing.

I was looking for a good recipie book to get started on a diet and convince my family that they can eat it too. So far so good. Good variety of dishes, the ones we tried are very tasty, some a bit time consuming to cook. My family likes the food as well. The portions must be rather large because often I can get 6 portions out of a 4 portion recipie, making it easier to plan meals for the week. The index could be organised in a better way. I use the book in conjunction with a calorie counter app and it's working. I lost 4kg in less than 4 weeks, very happy.

I joined Slimming World and lost 2st. Then came the corona virus "lockdown"...My desire to cook, and in particular to bake, has gone into overdrive. Despite the rationing of certain ingredients such as flour and butter, by my online grocer, I've still managed to put back a few lbs. (Slimming World is operating only virtually via Zoom and there are no weigh-ins).

I've been reading and using other Hairy Bikers books e.g. Pies (!) and Mediterranean. I'd forgotten this book. Now, using it, I've mapped out healthy but appealing meals for the days ahead.

Using a calorie counting approach, it's not entirely compatible with SW but can be adapted. Essentially using the SW method you can eat as much as you like of certain foods including lean meats and fresh fruit and veg, while certain other foods, e.g. bread, attract 'syn' points of which you have a modest daily allowance. Like SW though the Bikers eschew fat, albeit they suggest things like a hunk of wholmeal bread with soup...

I'll aim to report back after trialling this book with SW adaptations.

It gives a fresh twist on so many staples - bolognese, lamb burgers, chilli - that have now become regular favourites in the house. This is one of the best value recipe books I own, as not only do I use many of the recipes frequently, it also has more recipes in it that I've tried overall. Often you buy a recipe book and only find 4-5 recipes that you like. This book has at least 20 I've cooked more than 3 times. Brilliant.

What a fantastic cookery book, a must for anyone who is wanting to lose weight using the good old fashioned calorie counting. The recipes are healthy, easy to follow and most of all very tasty, you don't even realise you are dieting!! There is plenty of choice and something in there for everyone. I'm finding the recipes are being enjoyed by all of my family including my 2 teenage boys. For someone who loves cooking and cookery books I was so impressed I bought all 3 and the best thing about them is that after many attempts to lose weight recently following this recipes as part of a calorie controlled diet, it is working.

This is an amazing cookery book and you would NEVER know it was healthy and low fat food! The recipes work a treat and have never let me down as many do by some of the top cooks. Everyone I have tried is more delicious than the other. I have made loads of them; my favourites just now are fruity rice salad, Spanish Chicken, and Paprika chicken. I make them for my family and they love them too and would never question it as being 'slimming food'. I have lost 2 stone using a healthy eating plan based largely around these recipes and it has been the easiest thing I have ever done, in fact it has been an absolute pleasure. I have tried losing weight for so long and with no success, only hardship; this, on the other hand, has been the most enjoyable thing I've done. This book is now my eating bible and I wish they would bring out another one.
The recipes are very easy to follow. You will need to stock up on lots of spices, but apart from that, they are simple. The layout of the book is great and very attractive.
This is, quite simply, the best £7 I have ever spent!

This is a great book for anyone wanting to lose weight. Tasty recipes with a huge variety of flavors that should suit most people. Clear step by step instructions that are easy to follow. Preparing the recipes in this book, together with a regular exercise routine has helped me lose the extra pounds and keep them off. This book eliminates the myth that eating healthily means sacrificing on great tastes and fabulous flavors. It will take some extra time to find some of the ingredients than buying bland convenience foods but definitely worth it.

For example, I never used to enjoy eating salmon fillets until I tried the recipe for cooking salmon fillets with stem ginger in syrup, red chill and garlic with basmati rice. Wonderful recipe and simple to make. The great thing is, for many recipes its easy to swap some of the main ingredients if you prefer other cuts of meat or fish.
