How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsTruly outstanding reading

It's so good to have David Raker and Healy back again and this time its a massive story that just doesn't let up. This book really got under my skin, and as much as wanted to race on and get through it, I found myself once again having to slow down in case I missed something.

There are some lovely references to previous books and the story arc continues to develop Healy's story very well too. I love this about Tim's books. By the end of the book I was left wanting more, and no doubt that will be coming. Just not quick enough.

If you have not entered David Raker's world through his voice on earth Tim Weaver then you are missing out on something special.

3.0 out of 5 starsA complex read

This book started out so interesting and complex, I couldn't stop turning the pages. Unfortunately midway through loads more things began happening, loads more characters were introduced, many using pseudonyms and I struggled to keep up. By the end I still wasn't sure who the culprits were, what there notice was, or exactly what crimes they'd done.

There was just a lot of information for me to absorb and I was unable to do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ending too soon ..

Oh dear, I have finished this in three days and now have to wait months for the next Raker mystery. It is an excellent book: well plotted, great detail, lots of intriguing strands, familiar characters. One of his best. I did not enjoy Weaver's last detour into the lost lady on island story so I hope he continues what he does best - drawing his readers into Raker's gripping and hazardous world. My only quibble is that the lengthy backstory sections are printed in italics. Since I like to read at night, by a dim light, I found them hard to decipher. If this is a problem with the hardcover edition, I think it would be worse in the paperback.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not his best but still head and shoulders above most thrillers out there

I feel that I've been waiting for this book forever - Weaver is one of the few remaining authors whose books I will download immediately they come out rather than waiting for them to fall in price and if he continues to produce thrillers of this quality he will stay on that ‘musthave’ list. The mystery initially seems impossible, the pacing as always is superb and it ends on a cliffhanger leaving all Raker fans on tenterhooks waiting for the next book. One of the very few writers still producing decent, fast paced thrillers. Highly recommended.

As an avid fan of Tim Weaver, it could be a little biased if me to say how I had I loved this book.
However, I loved this book. It twisted and turned so much I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough and the cliff hanger ending, that has become synonymous with the Raker series, did not disappoint.
As always, I devoured it in 1 sitting and now have a huge book hangover. Worth every single minute.
You did it again Tim…..scene setting, tense, emotional all in spades. What can we expect next for our favourite protagonist?
Can’t wait for the next one.

Another well written, intriguing mystery tale. I love the the David Raker series, every book is just full of twists and turns. You're guessing right to the end, until the horror is unraveled.

I will say, what an ending! How is Raker going to get out of this?! Fans of the series will be super excited.

My only disappointment is i read it so quick that i have AGES to wait until the next book.

Every David Raker book instalment seems to be just as awesome as the last and I just drop any other book that I am reading to read these first and the Blackbird doesn’t disappoint, there is something so connected to my psyche in the style of writing and the main characters are so endearing… there is such a cliffhanger going into number 12… Tim Weaver please tell me that the next one is out really soon!!

I must have had several theories while reading the book, all wrong. I didn’t work it out at all until all was revealed at the end, I enjoy a good mystery like this. It was , as they say, a page turner, I don’t normally binge read a book, usually a chapter at a time or read for an hour, I was stuck into this book, just couldn’t put it down.

Wow Tim Weaver just gets better and better.
Anyone looking for a great summer read cannot be dissatisfied with this thriller.
One of the best final paragraphs I’ve ever read, going to be so hard to wait for happens next to David Raker😁 guessing Rebekah could be involved unless he’s otherwise occupied!

Mr Weaver's books are the only ones I never bother to read the reviews of because he never lets me down. This, in my humble opinion, was his best yet. The only comment I would give is to the ending - not that it's bad but that it's left me wanting the follow-up right NOW! Write fast Mr Weaver.
