Dillion spent her whole life trying to get away from her home town. She wanted better for herself than small town life. She moved to Chicago and never looked back. That is until fate had another idea. Her boyfriend moved back home; her employer goes bust. So with no job, no boyfriend and almost no home her few days back home becomes a much longer stay when her brother breaks his leg in a car accident and her dad needs help with the family business.
Back home she living in a trailer in her parent’s driveway, adjusting to family life again & starting to organise the business. Dillion runs into Donovan, the grandson of their old neighbour Bee. As executor of her will Dillion has been in touch with Donovan by email. He doesn't connect Dillion with Lynnie his Grammy Bee used to talk about when he visited.
This story is a gentle burn with some angst, a bit of intrigue. I enjoyed the relationship between Dillion and Donovan. They are good together and have a shared history even though they'd be never met. I loved that Grammy Bee was still a big part of the story. Helena always writes the sassiest of heroines in her stories and Dillion is certainly that, she takes no nonsense from anyone and isn't letting anyone walk over her.

Helena Hunting is one of my favourite authors and I loved her PUCKED.
But I didn't like this book. I wanted to but....
I didn't like the main mc and they're interactions felt flat ,boring and superficial
I didn't manage to connect with the story and main characters. I wouldn't have finished the book ( it was that boring) but I was curious who stolen the money so I stuck with it till the end. Sorry but not for me.

A truly beautiful, gentle story with plenty of drama, side characters that are truly intriguing.Family dynamics, trust issues and jealousy and deception. Van short for Donovan inherits his beloved Grandmother’s cottage comes to sort it out . A while after her death. Dillon the girl next door has to return to her home town due to a loss of job, break up of a relationship and her brother Billy being involved in an accident. Topics discussed are described with both knowledge and sympathy. . Van’s family are closely disjointed, but jealousy and greed lie under the surface! The story unfolds, it is has everything that the reader desires, but mostly a really absorbing story, that captures you on the first page and keeps you until the very end! Well worth 5 stars, by this very talented author, and certainly not a disappointment. Hopefully the other characters will be explored in future books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great story from Helena Hunting.

Another great story from Helena Hunting. Love Next Door follows the story of Dillion, a Pearl Lake native, who escaped to Chicago, only to have to return when both her and her family's fortunes change unexpectedly. Meanwhile, Van, a Chicago native with a deceased relative in Pearl Lake, finds himself back in the lakeside town, reminiscing about his childhood.

Dillion and Van have to overcome several family problems while re-assessing their personal lives. This is Helena Hunting on top form. The chemistry between Dillion and Van is incendiary, but it's their quieter moments that I particularly enjoyed. The Pucked and All In series Easter eggs are a lovely touch as well. Cannot wait for the second book! That tease at the end left me swooning!

I had this book pre ordered as soon as I found out it was coming as if Helena Hunting writes it I read it lol
I will say its not for me the usual full of hilarity and banter Helena story but it is a story full of small town beach vibes that is still a great read.
Dillion grew up in small town where everybody knows everything about everyone and cant wait to move out and live in the big city but when the family amd the family business go through some problems she realises its time to head home and help out.
Growing up extremely close to neighbour Bee over the years she's not ready to say goodbye to her house after sadly losing her to old age.. but when she finds Bees grandson Donovan there the story starts to change.
Donovan is also from the city and is here to sort of his grandmother's will and to avoid some issues back home. .queue some twists ... a large amount of surprises and some fab characters.
Very easy to read story that keeps you going from start to finish.

Very cute little love story. Plot was well though out. Dillion looses her job and ends back home where she doesn't want to be however home and working the family business is the best decision to make.
Donovan looses what he has worked so hard for through no fault of his own due to someone close meddling with his life while he deals with his grandmother 's will , he decides to go in person to deal with it.
Donovan and Dillion meet after years apart, not knowing that they lived in the same city. Chemistry between them starts and the road is a bumpy one however the highs out weigh the lows.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, sexy, summer romance!

This was a delightful, slow-burn romance.

"I feel like you see me. Like it doesn't matter what I say or do. I'm transparent, and you're already under my skin.”

Dillon and Van get off to an inauspicious start! LOL. Things seem to go from bad to worse, until they find even footing and all the snarkiness between them smoulders into something more.

This was a fabulous, sweet, sexy romance. Dillon and Van had great depth as characters, as we follow their interactions with each other and their friends and families. They had a great connection as they found more common ground between them and I just adored how their romance developed. This was an ideal feel-good summer read with fun characters, a fab small-town setting, a little bit of angst, and a little bit of mystery.

What a great and solid start to a new series. I'm used to Helena's laugh out loud romcoms, but I've read everything she's ever written, and Love Next Door was a mixture of all the styles.

It was heartfelt and full of banter, angsty yet funny and so chockfull of amazing chemistry between Van and Dillion. Their banter killed me and they were so sweet and sincere towards the other. I loved how both of them were basically forced to this small town but grew to love it.

This story was a slow burn but so easy to read and I have a feeling we're going to have an amazing journey ahead of us with all these characters. Can't wait to return to the Lakeside world.

P.S I loved loved loved the details in this books. Pay attention, and I'm sure you won't miss it.

Helena Hunting has managed to capture small town life in this perfectly. Everyone knowing everyone's business and making up what they don't , the then and us between the townies and the tourists both needing but not necessarily liking one another . But also the family and friendship dynamics . Dillion I didn't like at first but I grew to understand and like more as I was reading. Liked that life was up in the air for both her and Donovan as they 're-evaluated what they both wanted . The interwoven story of both families was also good . Looking forward to the next as Teagan gets her story .
