Exchanges and Replacements

A small number of eligible items can be exchanged or replaced through Your Orders if your exchange or replacement meets certain criteria including stock availability.

Did you receive a damaged, defective, or wrong item sold by Amazon and want to replace it with the same item? Is your order missing an item or part and you want a refund or replacement? Go to

If you want to exchange an item, it must meet the following criteria:

  • You didn't receive the item as a gift.
  • The item was originally purchased with a credit or debit card.
  • The item wasn't purchased with a promotion (except for free shipping promotions).

Note: Items sold by Marketplace sellers, including items Fulfilled by Amazon, and items from The Drop Collections can't be exchanged or replaced, but may be returned through Your Orders.

Exchanges for a Different Size or Color

Exchanges are available for apparel (including Staples by The Drop products, but excluding Collections by the Drop products), sports goods, shoes, baby products, jewelry, and watches that have a size or color variation.

The exchange item must meet the following criteria:

  • It's a different size or color than the return item.
  • It's shipped and sold by Amazon.

Exchanges for an Item in Your Cart

The exchange item must meet the following criteria:

  • It's added in a quantity of one to the cart.
  • It's shipped and sold by Amazon.
  • It's not identical to the item being returned.
  • It's not marked as a gift in your cart.
