To ensure that you pay the correct rate of VAT, and that we collect an import fees deposit from you when we must pay import fees on your behalf, you must add your VAT details to your Amazon Business account.
Value-added tax (VAT) is a percentage charge that consumers and businesses pay when purchasing certain types of goods and services.
All businesses with an annual taxable turnover greater than their country’s VAT threshold must register for VAT. Find more information on VAT in our VAT and Invoices help directory.
If your business has a VAT number, you must register it to your Amazon Business account to ensure that you pay the correct VAT.
We’ll invite you to enter a VAT number when you create an Amazon Business account. To be valid for zero-rate VAT on intra-EU transactions, an EU VAT number must be in the VAT Information Exchange System of the European Commission (VIES). A UK VAT number must be on the “Check a UK VAT number” website.
If your business operates in more than one country, you must enter the VAT number and address for each country in which your business operates. Entering all of your VAT details will ensure that you pay the correct VAT. It will also allow us to apply an import fees deposit to your purchase, where required, so that we can pay customers’ taxes on your behalf.
It may take 3-4 working days for us to verify your VAT number. To ensure that you pay the correct amount of VAT, we advise you to wait until after we’ve verified your VAT number to begin making purchases. We'll send you an email when we verify your VAT number.
Administrators can add, edit or delete VAT numbers for your business account at any time. To view all the VAT numbers registered to your account, go to the Business settings page and select Manage VAT. You can add new VAT numbers, or delete existing numbers. Select Manage to change the address and phone number for any existing number.
All members of your Amazon Business account can view the VAT numbers registered to the account.
Note: Invoices will use the address associated with the company’s registered VAT number by default.
