I really struggled to make sense of what was going on in this novel. Writers are constantly told to keep the reader in suspense, don't give the plot away too quickly, show don't tell but in doing so the reader can be let totally confused and that's exactly what has happened in this novel. There are too many points of views. I wasn't sure until very far into the book who Elle was. So confusing. Readers do want a smooth easy read to a large extent. I liked the opening scenes the best, the lane, the arrival of Nora, the development of their relationship but then it got muddling and annoying too as Nick gained control over Suzi's life. If she was so independent and career minded before she would not settle for this!
