I have generally played in clubs that use feathers. Feathers are great but they last such a short period (one scuffed shot can kill a feather shuttle) that they are a very expensive option.
So the aim of plastic shuttles is to provide longevity and a similar playability to feather shuttles. Of all the plastic shuttles that I have tried the Mavis shuttles are by far the best. They don't fly in exactly the same way as feather shuttles seem to fly faster initially and then stop more quickly. If you are coming straight from feather shuttles you may prefer to use red (faster) Mavis shuttles. As I get older (and unfortunately slower) the blue (medium) shuttles are a good compromise.
I find this yellow variant to be the easiest to see in the sub standard lighting and background wall colour, typically used in most sports centres.
