On 07/04/20 I purchased this item as advertised by Amazon uk ' Xbox Live 12 Month Gold Membership | Xbox One/360 | Xbox Live Download Code' This is not what you are getting!

Do not buy this item! You will not get what you purchased! When you try to redeem your code for 12months of xbox live you will be told that you are not getting 12months of xbox live, because your code is going to be converted by MS to 4months of game pass ultimate!! You have been warned

Okay. So my intial reaction was to want to warn people that there was a problem with this item, and look into the details afterwards.
Here's some information that may help. The purchase from Amazon is perfectly legitimate, in that the code is indeed for 12 Month's of xbox live. Apologies to Amazon for and suggestion to the contrary. The problem exists with MS - No surprise there! This is basically how it works. If you have a current Gamepass ultimate subscription, then you will not be able to purchase or add an additional Xbox live only subscription on your console - Your console will prevent this. However, if like me you purchase more Xbox live from Amazon and then try to extend your current Xbox live, You will be told by MS that your newly purchased 12 months of Xbox live will automatically be converted into a paltry 4Months of additional Gamepass ultimate. Now, if you don't particulary care about game pass - After all It just consists of a few MS AAA titles and the rest are old or mediocre games- then you will certainly not want to lose 8Months of live for 4Months of Game pass. Here's the advice I received; If you want to redeem your code as a full 12months Xbox live rather then convert it to a measley 4 months of games pass, you must not use your new code until your current subscription of gamepass expires. I cannot confirm this as yet, because I still have several months of Gamepass remaining. Hope this helps with any confusion.

Generally cheaper than buying directly from the Xbox Store and much quicker than waiting for a physical code to come through the door.

As soon as you purchase this, the code will be available for you to enter into your Xbox.

One thing to note: These cannot be stacked/overlapped. I had to wait until the day my Xbox Live ran out, before being able to use this.

Don't really understand what happened. It says xbox live 12 months. I got the code it worked without any problems and was emailed to me immediately. But on redeeming the code it suddenly went from 12 months xbox live to 4 months game pass . How's that happened.

Bought as a present for my son, who likes his new Xbox One S and wants to get into online multiplayer games. An annual membership seems like the most economical way of getting Xbox Live, and after a quick search the Amazon price was the best I could find at the time. Activating the service was very easy, although it includes an option to sign up for an additional free month by activating the auto-renewal feature. Although this seemed tempting at the time of activation, the auto-renewal price wasn't competitive, so be careful if you choose this option.

I purchased this today as a gift and followed the most obvious prompts in the email from Amazon to download the code for use on Xbox only to realise (as many many others have done) that I applied it to my Microsoft Account on my computer and seemingly impossible to reverse this.

Amazon - where were the instructions in your email saying to copy/photograph/make a note of the code to add to your X-box console? Why the overt prompt to log into Microsoft? They end up profiting and so does Amazon, but the customer ends up frustrated, money down with no X-box live account.

I ordered this item by mistake in the belief that I could buy it as a present for a great-niece and that I could buy the green card to send her for Christmas. After I had paid for it I discovered that the green card was unavailable and that the download was only available to the holder of an X- Box account. It was my fault for failing to read the (very) small print. I have asked Amazon if I could obtain a refund but haven’t had a reply yet.

I normally buy my Xbox subscription via a card in a high street retailer but they work out quite expensive compared to buying it online here, not to mention this is delivered instantly so you are good to go straight away.
