Introducing Detective Jack Warr
DC Jack Warr and his girlfriend Maggie have just moved to London to start a new life together. Though charming, Jack can't seem to find his place in the world - until he's drawn into an investigation that turns his life upside down. In the aftermath of a fire at an isolated cottage, a badly charred body is discovered, along with the burnt remains of millions of stolen, untraceable bank notes. Jack's search leads him deep into a murky criminal underworld - a world he finds himself surprisingly good at navigating. But as the line of the law becomes blurred, how far will Jack go to find the answers - and what will it cost him?

Some killers can't be tamed
Violent burglars have been terrorising residents across the English countryside. But when a mutilated body is discovered in a Cotswolds house, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary group of opportunist thieves. As Detective Jack Warr investigates, he discovers locals with dark secrets and unearths hidden crimes. With few leads and the violent attacks escalating, he will have to act as audaciously as the criminals if he hopes to stop them.

Wow! What a gripping read. This was truly a book I found hard to put down and I was defeated only by sleep. I actually found myself wishing I could read faster.
Lynda has taken us on a HUGE journey here and she has been very subtle about it. It's not obvious during the read but, when you stop to reflect on book afterwards, it hits you what Lynda has done.
Apart from a thrilling story of the loveable main victim, who is mad as a box of frogs, we get possible connections for future instalments in the series.
The obvious connections may of course be chasing Adam in the future or possibly crossing paths again with our train robbing ladies. Yet despite all this, there is still so much more being developed.
Will we see Jack rising further up the ranks either by natural promotion or through the loss of his Boss Ridley to a horrible disease.
Does Jack lock horns with the inept Drug Squad boss Lewis or perhaps cash in a favour from Lyle at Hammersmith?
This topped with so much new insight into Jacks family and his 'gift' from Adam gives so many new and exciting avenues that could be explored.
We'll just have to wait and see.

The storyline is engrossing with many different lines to investigate and how to link them together.
It keeps you reading and very interested.
Jack Warr is a brilliant detective with a need for justice and is not adverse to crossing the line and sometimes saying the wrong thing, but he has a good team around him that all work well and are loyal.
His home life is just what he needs to bring him back to earth sometimes and he has a loving wife and mother.
This is a great read from cover to cover and will keep you guessing what will happen.
Hope their is more in the series
This book started for me at a good and gripping read, lots of twists, sad times and times that my heart ached for the characters.
Slower during wedding planning which led me to far away from the original story.
Totally understand the great ending.
Well worth a read.
This book is yet another one of Lynda La Plante that I could not put down and I cannot wait for the next one to come out!
I've read all 3 of this series - D.S. Jack Warr - you need to be a fan of Widows etc to appreciate where this series of Jack Warr originates. CAN'T wait for the next one!
