Learned of theses kits through a motoring forum so gave this a go. I have built a cheapo wood model before but these are in a different league. Cleverly engineered, well made and beautifully executed, it's addictive once you start. A challenge in places especially the rubber band mechanisms which nearly beat me. The geared mechs need care in assembly to work properly. I took time on mine but they're still a little sticky so I'm going to try a bit of grease.
Lining up another for my birthday but.... which one?
Okay just a little tip. I finally finished the car but it refused to run properly. There are many gears in the drive mechanism and I couldn't see what was jamming. Happened upon the last 10 minutes of a 5 hour build video on YouTube and the problem seems to be the fan that sits between the radiator and the engine. I removed it and it worked so a bit of fettling should should sort it out.
Update;
This model is more of a display piece when finished. They look great, however the elastic bands on mine are beginning to perish and disintegrate.
