Product description

Review

As he has in twenty-three previous Kydd titles, Stockwin creates a knotty narrative, writing with authority about Britain's Georgian navy and the physical world at sea with intrigue, captivating characters, and deft storytelling. Thunderer is a suspenseful journey

Quarterdeck

2021 marked a 20-year anniversary of the first title in the Thomas Kydd Series.

All the titles are available in hardback, paperback, ebook and audiobook formats. A number of the titles have been translated into foreign languages, including French, Japanese, Russian and German.

The latest book in the Kydd Series is THUNDERER, published October 7, 2021 in the UK and in January 2022 in the U.S.

Julian Stockwin was sent at the age of fourteen to Indefatigable, a tough sea-training school. He joined the Royal Navy at fifteen before transferring to the Royal Australian Navy, where he served for eight years in the Far East, Antarctic waters and the South Seas. In Vietnam he saw active service in a carrier task force.

After leaving the Navy (rated Petty Officer), Julian practised as an educational psychologist. He lived for some time in Hong Kong, where he was commissioned into the Royal Naval Reserve. He was awarded the MBE and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He now lives in Devon with his wife Kathy.

Julian writes historical action adventure novels. The Kydd series is the story of one man's journey from pressed man to admiral in the age of fighting sail. Twenty four books have been published to date, with more projected. As well, he has written 'Stockwin's Maritime Miscellany', a little non-fiction tome and two historical standalones, 'The Silk Tree' and 'The Powder of Death.'
