Absolutely stomach churning. Really, truly gruesome in places. Conrad Jones has such a way with words that I am sure he’s had first hand experience of the situations he describes. There were times I actually had to take a breath before I could read on.

It is an Alec Ramsey book but he features little here. The focus is instead on Annie Jones who leads the team through this challenging series of events. Toni Barrat the dogged journalist is back into play and we learn more about her and what makes her tick. Although I still don’t like her, I now might have a little sympathy for her.

If you are a Conrad Jones fan (I seriously suggest you become one if you’re not) then this is a must read.

I discovered this author buying a 99p kindle book 'The Child Taker' and have been hooked ever since. The character's are very believable, and the pace of the stories keep you hooked until the very last page. So I'm not giving anything away with this novel, but I'm left thinking again 'what next?' So if you've never read Conrad Jones, love a fast paced, gut churning gritty read, then I 100% recommend this series of thrillers.

A dark and violent, no holds barred, thriller. A story that has the reader hooked, from the first to the last page. As the bodies pile up, Liverpool is transformed into a war zone. We have violent East European gangsters engaged in drug and people smuggling, alongside amoral journalists, risking life and limb for a story. While all this is happening the elite MIT branch of the police is forced to play catchup. This is a powerful tale of intrigue, double cross, murder and, in the end, karma. Highly recommended!

First off, I have to say that I love the cover of this book! The colours, graphics and feel of the cover drew me to it instantly.

I really enjoyed this book with its gripping plot that takes the reader on a gruesome but thrilling journey through the world of drugs, gangs, and human trafficking. Even though this is Book 7 in the Detective Alec Ramsay series, it could easily be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone.

Justice, revenge and betrayal are just but a few of the themes you can find embedded in this story. The characters are well written and really draw you in. Annie and Stirling were two characters that particularly piqued my interest. Detective Alec Ramsay did not make an appearance until later in the story so the focus was on the other key players of the Major Investigation Team. Andris and Ivor Markevica were creepy, manipulative, and Andris in particular really made my skin crawl. Letva was also quite scary and extremely stealthy in his ways. Not a man you want to p*ss off! And Antonia (Toni) was a great character. She was taken through the mill in this story and at times her experience was so real I felt like I was right there with her!

A mix of PCP and Ketamine made the drug #Zombie in this story and it was aptly named. That concoction alone would leave the user messed up beyond belief! The notorious and seedy drug underworld, filled with corruption and destruction was well thought out and completely believable.

There were some cracking and shocking twists in this book and for fans of the Alec Ramsay series, I think you will be really surprised!! It was a real page turner and once I started, I struggled to put it down. Would I recommend this book? Hell yeah I would! In fact, I have added the series to my TBR as I would like to find out where it all started!

This gruesome, thrilling and absolutely action packed book is definitely worth checking out!

This kind of topic isn’t normally one I’d choose to read but I was so impressed with Desolate Sands that I tried it out. Again such a well woven story which linked to the last. Great characters although I didn’t warm to the female lead at all and I’m still sulking about a character who lost his life- so I did get very invested in them. Some of the cold blooded killing involved in human trafficking made me squirm, probably because it rang so true. A very gifted writer and having read 3 books on the trot, a firm favourite!

This story started on bonfire night and the burning of a effigy of Guy Fawkes. Who was the ‘Guy’?
Once again, a wonderfully written story . At one point, I realised I was holding my breath. It really was quite frightening at times, buts let’s face it, we all like to be scared sometimes. This is definitely a book one can’t put down. I didn’t want it to finish. Without giving anything away, I have to admit shedding a few tears regarding the storyline involving Alec Ramsay’s sidekick, ‘Big Jim Stirling’.
What can one say about this book, except that is intriguing, though provoking and tense. I look forward to more from Conrad Jones.

I have just finished this whole Alec Ramsay series and I am so disappointed! Not because it would have been bad, but because it has been a great pleasure to read all of them. And the reason for my disappointment is that I this morning in bed when I finished this book 'Three' there are no book 8 to buy. Yet? Will there be?

'Three' was excellent, fast paced and gripping. It had me hooked from the start as I got to follow my favourite detective (Ramsay) through this new brutal case. One of my other favourite characters is being killed off, which one I will of course NOT say, only that the police force and you as a reader is in for a ride. Keep them coming Conrad!

I discovered conrads books by accident as I have never been one for novels and certainly not crime thrillers. I have now read all seven in a short few months and just finished three while in spain. Indeed my wife is currently at book four such is conrads attraction in the characters and story lines he lets us share. Already my favourite authour and have loved all the books in thus series. I will certainly be reading the rest of his books and series in the not too distant future. His detail and stiry lines will not allow a long read...you will not be able to put down, as each chapter ends you will be hooked into the next and wont want to wait. Look foward to the next.....thank you Conrad..
