Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

While this book is an easy read for a dyslexic and even a child it’s almost too simplified. Half the pages are quotes, it’s very repetitive and it is certainly not a guide.
Most of the knowledge is anecdotal and feels much more a way to boost confidence in someone who is ashamed of being dyslexic, so if you’re self conscious about it then this is the book for you.
What you will not find is a deeper learning about what makes someone dyslexic and deeper insight into their strengths and weaknesses. It is simply a book that gives top level views of strengths and weaknesses in different areas and is extremely repetitive to the point that I just started to skip over sections.
Please be a bit more scientific/academic in your approach as I found this book to be disappointing and almost a bit patronising in how it has been oversimplified. But hey maybe that works better for some people.
Impact the journey and goal
Of achieving the desire I know I cannot wait to share the word and engage and make schools and workplaces aware of this invisible talent of dyslexia
I am happy books like this exist and people who dont have dyslexia and want to understand dyslexia should read it but i am sorry Kate but i just don’t enjoy it.
The author allows her militant passion to get in the way. Presented like a bludgeoning self help manual, the book inevitably defeats its own ends. Sad, because it ought to be a valuable contribution to an increasing awareness of the rich variety of our abilities.
Additionally, it’s frustrating to find a number of typos (which makes my dyslexic brain go wild, as I can’t work out if I’m reading it wrong, or it’s just written wrong!) inconsistencies in capitalisations (maybe I’m missing something here? Just seems unnecessary). This may be an editor problem moreso, just surprised to see this, especially in a dyslexia book!
There certainly are other books available that are arguably better value, such as “the dyslexic advantage”.
