Jamie and Andrew are strangers, but they're two of the last people left alive. They don't know what they'll find on their dangerous journey ... but they may just find each other. A queer romance about courage, hope and humanity for fans of They Both Die at the End, The Hunger Games and Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda.
When the Superflu wipes out most of the population, Jamie finds himself completely alone in a cabin in the woods - until an injured stranger crosses his path.
Life is dangerous now and, armed with a gun, Jamie goes to pull the trigger. But there's something about Andrew ... something that stops Jamie in his tracks. Jamie takes him in, and as Andrew heals and they eventually step out into the strange new world, their relationship starts to feel like more than just friendship ...
But trouble isn't far behind. As the boys make a perilous journey south, they'll come face to face with a world torn apart and society in ruins. And who, or what, will they find waiting for them at the end of it all?
"Tense, exciting, sometimes heartbreaking and always romantic, All That's Left in the World explores what it means to hold onto hope and humanity when the worst case scenario becomes reality. With characters you'll adore, and a fast-paced, mysterious plot that keeps you turning the pages as fast as you can devour them, this book is not to be missed." - Sophie Gonzales, author of ONLY MOSTLY DEVASTATED

Great book :)
I didn't go for the Heartstopper books since I'm not a fan of graphic novels, so, if you are like me, and you like a bit of adventure and a book easy to read, this is for you.
I read it so quick and enjoyed every page of it. Very heart warming and cute and has the action perfectly shared around the whole story.
The whole story was fantastic and well written, the only thing I would say is that the ending seemed quite rushed, with everything just seemingly resolved and wrapped up very quickly. Maybe that was just because I wanted more!
The 'romance' is incredibly lacking. Andrew and Jamie have zero romantic chemistry. I don't even know what these two guys look like - which just proves the complete lack of longing, yearning, checking out (all staples of the romance genre.) It would have honestly worked better if it had been platonic love and the message is that two young men can love each other in a none sexual way.
The plot is pretty dry. They thankfully do have a destination, they're not just wandering around aimlessly, but their destination is not interesting.
The book felt like it didn't realise it would have an audience. It is all telling and very little showing and reads you are only getting part of the story - the missing part being the emotion. Which is why this should not be compared to Heartstopper at all.
The love story element of this story is gentle and happens over time as a friendship grows into something more, something worth fighting for, or maybe even worth killing for.
I don't think I've ever related to a character so much as I related to Andrew in this book! The characters are written in such a heartfelt and realistic way, that you can't help but get incredibly invested in their relationship.
Erik J. Brown is very good at writing suspenseful chapters that kept me thoroughly engaged page after page. A few times I was genuinely upset when I had to stop reading and do actual life things instead. The setting provides a unique set-up for the characters and story, but is written in a way that isn't too heavy or upsetting that it made me want to put the book down or stop reading. Yet, the setting is used so effectively that it made me care even more for the characters, their past experiences and their potentially troubled futures.
I could not recommend this book enough to anyone looking for LGBTQ+ representation, a good post-apocalyptic story or even a slow-burn romance. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of reading it and wish I could read it again for the first time!
Such a heartwarming story with scenes that had me on edge. Past Me would never have been able to finish a sentence let alone a paragraph but this book was something that I could not bring myself to put down until the very end. And there isn’t a lot of Gay Romance stories that takes place in an apocalyptic setting so this was just absolutely stunning!
